I Just installed a new theme (Live Wire) for my Lithium Mod Rom. Don't know if there is a connection, but when I need to update an app, I get the message something like "process android media process stopped unexpectedly" and it will not allow the update. Everything else works well. I have turned it off for awhile, and have done a battery pull.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: 2.1 Update Details ?

Sep 16, 2010

I am from India where we guys don't have branded phones and all. one of my good friends working at Sony Ericsson India told me last night that on 23rd Sep India and UK generic will see the update most probably . update will be ota. about 206 mb and no multi touch no 16m colours , you will be able to store apps to SD card. better timescape widget , live wallpapers,hd recording , no flash light for camera , 5 home screens. another update in Dec which is internally known as 2.1.3 will give single fingers zoom , 16m colors and flash for the browser! x10 will see 2.2 in Feb after the release of eclario also known as x12"

Not sure how much of this is really true as I've already read that the 2.1 update has got 16m colours from an internet source that claims to have had a hands on.

At least it's good to see that SE have implemented the apps to SD card and flash for browser from Froyo to 2.1.

Not really sure what to believe until we have it on our beloved X10's so best take everything you read on the internet concerning the X10 2.1 update with a pinch of salt .

HTC Desire :: Android Process Acore Force Close After Update

Oct 5, 2010

I'm on orange, and I've just updated from 1.15.61.10 1.22.61.1 then to 2.17.61.2 (2.2 - froyo). After updating I've been getting quite a few process.android.acore force close messages. This error message was coming up during anything and everything I was doing. So I've done a factory reset, but after that, I'm still getting the messages. Maybe not so frequently but still getting them.

Motorola Droid :: How OTA Update Process Begins?

Feb 10, 2010

This isn't a "when will the OTA Update come?" or "will I lose root?" I am wondering how the OTA update process begins? We've just about all read that Motorola has posted info on Facebook stating that 2.1 will be available this week (or next'when' is actually irrelevant). So is it Motorola who is responsible for making the 2.1 update suitable for our Droids? Meaning...are they the ones who have tested/tweaked Google's 2.1 update and made sure it works okay with the phone, added/removed features etc.? And not Verizon? Or does Verizon have the final 'say' as to whether or not the update is ready to go to our phones. Or do they even have any input at all? IIRC, the last update to 2.0.1 (at least the forced method) everybody was downloading the file from Google servers. Maybe that was just coincidental as somebody leaked the info/link...I can't remember back that far. I used the force update method so I'm not sure how the OTA worked (I know how it works..just saying). Kinda rambling here.Basically, I want to know does Motorola push the update? Or do they send the files to Verizon and then they push it to us? And regardless of who does the pushing of the update, how will we know where the file came from? I saw an Admin asking in another thread for someone to PM him about the link/file/whatever. How would I, rooted or not, know exactly how to get the update.zip from the phone? Is there a link associated with the file that can be seen by a normal user?

Android :: Remote Service Process Persists - I.e. Won't Disappear From Process Table

Feb 21, 2009

At a certain point in my program, when I'm completely done with my service, my activity executes unbindService() and stopService() -- yet the process persists. I can tell that it persists because I run "ps" in "adb -e shell":

CODE:.............

"adb logcat", I can show you the sequence of events:

ACTIVITY: context.unbindService(serviceConnection);

SERVICE: onUnbind();

ACTIVITY: stopService(serviceIntent); & returns true!

SERVICE: onDestroy();

First, my activity calls unbindService(serviceConnection). According to the documentation, unbindService() will "Disconnect from an application service. You will no longer receive calls as the service is restarted, and the service is now allowed to stop at any time." So that is fine, and it is happening.

Appropriately, we see the onUnbind() call happen on the service side. According to the documentation, onUnbind() is called when "all clients have disconnected from a particular interface published by the service." So this confirms the correct service connection is being passed, and that the service is responding accordingly.

Next, my activity calls stopService(serviceIntent), and returns true. According to the documentation, stopService() does the following: "If there is a service matching the given Intent that is already running, then it is stopped and true is returned; else false is returned." Again, this is happening and returning true.

In response, the service's onDestroy() method is called. According to the documentation, onDestroy() is "Called by the system to notify a Service that it is no longer used and is being removed. The service should clean up any resources it holds (threads, registered receivers, etc) at this point. Upon return, there will be no more calls in to this Service object and it is effectively dead."

At this point I expect the process to disappear from the process table. Yet it remains indefinitely. But why?

Also, the process is so persistent that I can bind to it again, and I see that it is the same exact process responding because the PID (process ID) is the same!

Samsung Fascinate :: Random Process Com.google.process.gapps Has Stopped Unexpectedly

Sep 11, 2010

So since I got the phone on Thursday, at random, I'll get these popup crash messages, that say "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly" it has a "Force Close" button, which doesn't seem to change anything other than to acknowlege the message.It will happen at random, sometimes while I'm on the home screen, or sending a text message, but more recently, as I was trying to manage & link contacts. When I searched for this message it seemed to be related to people using Gmail, but I always get this message when I'm doing other things and not even touching my Gmail account.

Samsung Moment :: Getting Process Com.google.process.gapps Stoped Unexpectedly

Apr 17, 2010

I've searched around the forums (here and SDX forums) and although it seems the few people that had this issue were able to solve it, my case seems a bit different.

It's different because of the people I've read solving the issue, it was a problem with something they changed / removed with gmail / gmail storage or talk / talk storage. And when they cleared the cache or re-installed the problem went away. Also, it seemed that the same people had a problem with downloading from the market...

Neither of the above apply to me, but yet I'm still getting this FC error all the time!

I was helping a friend with their CL14 Moment out of the box...and went from stock 1.5 CL14 to 2.1 DD03 w/Joey recovery to EclairDD10 and v5 root. I then did the streaming media fix, and then the private app (build.prop) fix (all previously done with my phone no problems). I did all of these update right in a row, and after my last re-boot the FC error (process com.google.process.gapps has stoped unexpectedly) started showing up and won't go away.

The only .apk / odex files I removed were the preloaded Sprint apps

Does anybody have any other ideas on how I can get this FC error to stop? I've tried clearing the cache / data for all the mail / talk apps, rebooted, cleared dalvik cache...

Android :: Need Details Of Operate A Service?

May 5, 2009

I have a question about service, take a music player for example. While I am playing the music in background as a service. And then a phone call happens, what should the service do? Will the OS (android) pause the service, or will the developer who develop the service write code to detect things like this and define the operations? I did not find any material about this question, so I raise a new post here to find if anyone who is clear about this? Or can introduce me some material to read. Thanks very much!

Android :: Market Details Not Working

Mar 30, 2009

Apparently, I supposed to be able to open the Market page of my app by querying an intent with an URL like: market://details?id=<app_id> where <app_id> seems to be the package name: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=5c850. However, while this seems to indeed open the Market app with the details activity, it always gives me "A Server error occured". I'm trying both launching the intent through code, as well as on an adb shell as, say: am start "market://details? id =com.NamcoNetworks.PacMan". Neither works.

Android :: ListView Details Indicator

Aug 19, 2009

Anybody knows how to get the ">" sign in the listview? Like for example is done in the gocart app (now shopsavvy), see screenshots here: http://code.google.com/intl/nl/android/adc/adc_gallery/app.html?id=17 The idea of the ">" sign is to show the user there's more information available (when clicking on the entry).

I know how to do it by making my own custom items in a ListView. Is that how they probably did it? Thus with their own drawable on the right? I'm kindof hoping I don't need to do it this way, that there's already something in existence for it :)

Is there a theme or something else that does it for you? Or at least an existing drawable (I did not find it here [url]

Android : Need Soft Keyboard / IME Details

May 27, 2009

I was wondering if anyone could help. Here is my situation: I have a game with a portion that up to now we have been using the G1's hardware keyboard to implement. With the advent of 1.5 and because of the desire for more device compatibility, we've shifted requirements to implementing using a soft keyboard. I've been researching google groups and the android SoftKeyboard sample for a while, and what I've found can only get me part of the way. I have made a very simple custom soft keyboard (only capital letters and a backspace key / no candidate view) and it seems to function properly, but I had to activate it in the "Locale & Text" section of the settings, and long press an EditText box to force the selection of my custom keyboard. Is there a way to force the use of the soft keyboard I built in my application (they are in the same AndroidManifest.xml) without having the user "activate" the keyboard in "Locale & Text"? Alternatively, I want to use the default Android keyboard to do input, but I want to deactivate the candidate view and capture KeyEvents directly from it instead of using an EditText. Basically, is there a way to get the same exact functionality as the hardware keyboard on the G1 from this IME stuff?
