View 5 RepliesI am trying to pass location data from my application to the Google Navigation API (No, not the browser). I can pass data to the dialer, and call a phone number successfully, but now wish to use the turn-by-turn navigation as an additional function. I have searched tirelessly through Android documentation, Google Maps API Documentation, and the web without luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction or hint how I can pass the service my data?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't own an Android 4.3 tablet yet but I need to know the following things.I wanted to restrict my device so that a user is unable to change any settings (in particular turn on/off WiFi) and disable all applications except one.How strict is the restriction?
If I disable all apps except one what will the restricted user be able to do?
In an ideal scenario I'd like the restricted user to do only 3 things:
a) turn the tablet on/off
b) turn the application of my choosing on/off
c) all other options would be disabled
d) the restricted user should NOT see any data of the administrator
Is there a location widget to turn location on/off

Let me explain, often when I'm using the phone asks me to turn on the GPS because otherwise the navigator of Location does not work, when I do cancels and then get out, I came back after just 15 seconds and then continues with the same demands indefinitely.
I reset phone and I formatted the memory card , but now after reconfiguring the mobile phone presents itself to me again, what would it be?
I also checked with Kaspersky, but nothing found. That practically stops me using a mobile phone?

Currently I'm having something like this:
CODE:..........
Where _iWifi is a button instant (of course...)
Now, the problem is that it tells me there is a Security Exception occurred, I guess I have no permission to access this.
I'm sure a firmware key is not needed in this case (unlike my previous question regarding reboot action), so what is the proper way of doing this?
Can someone recommend a good app to automatically toggle wifi based on when I leave my house, which is the only place I use WiFi.

I'm looking for an app that'll help me find my phone via GPS without always having to have GPS enabled. I have Wave Secure and it doesn't have an option to turn my GPS on remotely, Lookout Mobile Security is the same way and Where's My Droid app requires GPS to be previously enabled.
The Internet location ability's accuracy within 200-1000ft radius doesn't seem useful if my phones stolen. I don't think walking from door to door, trying to listen in on each house for my alarm would work out too well.
Any app that could turn my GPS on remotely via codeword text or Internet site would be extremely useful.
I want my Android phone to share its internet connection with other wifi enabled devices. Seems so cool to have a laptop and a couple ipods or something sharing the connection.
I know this can be done if the phone is rooted, or whatever you call it, but isn't there an app that I can download and make it work without needing to hack the phone? I know PDA net works pretty well, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. You have to connect the phone to the computer via USB or bluetooth, and it gets on the internet through there. I want to be able to have multiple devices quickly and easily jump on the Androids connection.
Is there an app that can turn off my wifi whenever I put my phone to sleep? To conserve battery, I always have to turn off my wifi before I turn it off, and turn it back on when I unlock it. After a few days of this, it gets pretty annoying. I'm used to the iPod touch where when you sleep it, the wifi automatically turns off to save battery, and when you unlock it, and turns it back on. It would really save me the time.
Also I noticed this Wifi sleep policy thing. I don't really understand, can someone elaborate or explain more. Is it that when your not using your wifi for +15 min, it automatically turns off? Do you turn it on manually, or does it do it auto when you starting using wifi programs like browser.
I've a problem with my stock Galaxy S4 in that since a firmware update (4.2.2.2 to 4.3) I cannot for the life of me get the WiFi to turn on.I've been having this problem for almost a week even though the update occurred quite sometime before that. I've tried puling the battery but it didn't have any effect. Tried putting the phone into Recovery Mode, sadly I can't even get that to work (Vol. up, Home and Power together). All that happens is the tiny tiny blue text of "Recovery Mode" appears, vanishes upon button release, then the phone proceeds to boot normally. No recovery mode at all. Eventually I decided to to a Factory Reset in the vain hope it would reslove the problem. All I've succeeded in doing is losing all my data (yes it was backed up but to restore the backup I need to have WiFi turned on!)
N.B After downloading Kies3 I've been able to update with latest firmware.....and I can now turn on my WiFi!! WOOP!! About bloody time too!
N.B.2 Scrub that last comment. After being able to turn Wifi on and scan for signal, it allowed me to enter the password for my home WiFi then I restarted the device only to find that again the Wifi option on the phone will not turn on.
Why can't I change apps, night, peak, wifi, location? These options are grayed out. I would like to change these settings.
View 22 Replies View RelatedDo you use "Use wireless networks" or "use GPS" for your location setting, with an eye towards preserving battery life? I've heard that using GPS can be better on battery life because it only draws power when an application needs to use the GPS (which shouldn't be too often). I also heard that the wireless network setting uses more power because it is constantly using power.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor those of you trying to squeeze as much time out of the battery as possible, I came across this nifty program which I don't think has been mentioned yet: AppBrain: Y5 - Battery Saver - Android app on AppBrain Official: Y5 Battery Saver: Home. When you connect to a Wi-Fi network, it uses the GSM base tower identifier (CellID) to determine the location of the Wi-Fi network and stores it in memory. It does not use the GPS. I saved my home network earlier this afternoon and went out, Wi-Fi was turned off while I was out, then after I came home and started using my phone, I was connected again, so it seems to be working so far.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWouldn't it be cool if I could tell my phone to switch wifi on and switch 3g reception off when it senses that I am at work or home based on my gps coordinates and then reverse that when I'm on the road i.e. not at those coordinates I set. Is there an app that does this?
