Android :: What Event Is Fired After All Views Are Fully Drawn?

Oct 16, 2010

I need to capture the absolute positions of some ImageViews to use as drop targets. I can't seem to find what event I need to put my code in to read the screen and get the Left(), Top() .. positions. I do not want monitor the inflation of each individual view. There must be some sort of onScreenFinsihed type of event, but I can't find it. onMeasure and onDraw seem to fire at the start of their work, I need to know when they are done.

Android :: What event is fired after all views are fully drawn?

Android :: Get Information Of Activity Lifecycle Callbacks In Views Drawn?

I want to get the size of a view that is in my activity but I am not able to get that information in any of the activity lifecycle callbacks (onCreate, onStart, onResume). I'm assuming this is because the views have not been drawn yet. At what point are views drawn and is there a callback I can put my code so I can get the size of the view?

Android :: Push Up Layout In Event That Soft Keyboard Is Drawn

Jul 15, 2010

I am designing an Android app and I'm having a couple of layout issues. I have a screen with 3 EditTexts on it in a row, and I would like for the 'next' key on the soft keyboard to cycle between the EditText fields. As for now, the 'next' key has no effect. Also, when the soft keyboard is displayed, it covers up the third of the EditTexts. Is there any way to push up the layout in the event that the soft keyboard is drawn?

Android : App That Show Differnt Event Filtering Views With Widgets?

Nov 21, 2010

Right - have now got a good reminder snooze app (calendar snooze) - but as mentioned here before it still cant do anything with tasks as android doesnt remind fully for tasks

so - im thinking of creating a calendar called 'tasks' and using this for task-events - and then not showing it in my normal calendar apps. it could mess everything up

one thought is will calendar apps be able to show differnt event filtering views with different widgets etc ?

ie: widget 1 shows normal calendar with 'tasks' filtered out widget 2 shows just 'tasks' calendar.

HTC Incredible :: Are There Any Fully Stable Fully Featured ROMs Out There?

Sep 30, 2010

I rooted my phone back before 2.2 came out. I've played with CWM, made Nandroid and Titanium backups, removed bloat and installed most of the root only apps. What I haven't done yet is flash a ROM. This is mainly because it seems that while there are a crap ton of ROMs being developed out there all of them seem to either not be fully stable or are missing some sort of key feature (camera, videocam, bluetooth, LED, internal storage, etc).
Are there any ROMs that you folks are currently using that's stable and has all the features of the phone working? If not, what's the closest one that you've found?

Android :: Views And Their Child Views - How To Avoid The Ugly - Boxes - When Child Views In A View Has Another Color Than Background

Jan 6, 2010

I have a simple ListView and on that ListView I have placed a number of custom defined Views. The CustomView has ImageView and two TextViews.

The CustomView also has a "stateful drawable" as background, so that the background image (a 9-patch) changes if you press the Row in the ListView. When pressing the Row, the background image changes to a Red-ish thing.

The problem is that when the background changes from the default greyish, all the Views in the CustomView (ImageView and TextViews) still have their greyish background and thus creates very ugly greay boxes on top of the now redish background.

What is the best way to solve that problem? I hoped that such things were handled automatically (as it is done in for example .NET), but I was wrong it seems.

Android :: Activity Being Fired Off Too Many Times

Jul 19, 2010

Our app starts out with a tab activity. But, before the user can get into the tab activity to do work, we have to check to see if they're logged in. This login is required for all activities within the tab activity. So, instead of having this security check within all the activities, we created our own abstract "activity" and have the tab activities extending our custom activity. Our "security check" (just see if they have a login key and login token in Preferences) is put within the onResume() of the Abstract activity. If either of these checks come back false, we fire off the login activity and use dialog's within that screen.

(We're doing this because we don't want the user to be able to see the data on the tabs if they're not logged in, so this login activity is a black background with dialogs for username/password). The issue is, the onResume() of the abstract activity is being called numerous times, and starts the Login Activity multiple times. We've tried setting the "singleInstance" and singleTask flags on the xml for the login activity, but the activity ends up calling onActivityResult before it is even displayed on the screen.

Why is it doing this? I'm really starting to believe it's a platform bug.update: I have filed an issue and removed the LiveFolders feature. I will include it in my app when I'll get a response either here or there that clarifies this thing. If I get the time I think I'll upload a demo app to that issue. Update: I have received a notification that the bounty is expiring in 3 days. No one wants it? Update 04/25/2010: I have updated the issue on the Android project and uploaded a test application. It would be nice if someone could test this application on a device, maybe it's such a subtle problem that it only appears on the emulator.

Android :: How Can Update The All The Views Inside A TabHost When Pressing On A ContextMenu Item From Within One Of The Views

Nov 16, 2010

I am implementing a music player application in Android. My play list selection screen is implemented as a tab selector widget which contains a ListActivity inside each of the tabs: Artist, Albums, Songs.
I want to update the ListView in each of the ListActivity when I delete an item from any of the lists.

i.e. When I long press an item in the Artists list a context menu is drawn with "Delete Artist"
And it should delete all the songs from this artist in the Songs ListView, delete all the albums by this artist in the Albums ListView, and finally delete the entry for the artist in the Artist ListView.

Each of the ListActivity has its own fillData() method, which updates the ListView when the button in the context menu is pressed.

How can I call the fillData() method of the Albums ListActivity after I update the ListView inside of the Artists ListActivity?

Android :: Switching Views With RadioButton And Saving Views In Bundle

Mar 6, 2010

I have the following XML code:.................

The idea is to change the views, whenever I press one of the radio buttons. When I press a button the first time everything works out fine, but the second time I press a button, I get an IllegalStateException, and I can't quite see why I'm getting this.

Also, the Activity seems to set all my global variables to null, which is why I have to create them every time I switch from portrait to landscape or vice versa. So I would like to know if there is a way I can save my views in the Bundle, or any other way in which I can permanently save my views, so I don't have to add or create them every time, I flip the phone. And whenever I flip the phone, it seems that it rereads the main XML file, causing the RadioGroup to be set to 2D even if the 3D button is checked. This is because I've said the 2D button to be checked from when the app is first created, but I would like to also save the state of that RadioGroup.

I am putting my whole code in a while(true) loop and trying to read the stream every 5 seconds and refresh the overlays on the map. But overlay items are not shown until the function (either oncreate, or any onclickeventhandler etc) is completed. For example, test code, I am adding a single test overlay item when ever the user clicks on a button. If I put a wait(2000000) "after" I add overlays and invalidate the map, the overlay is not displayed until the time has elapsed and the function is completed.

Android :: Implement Dynamically Drawn Content?

Feb 2, 2010

Based on the limitations of RemoteViews, it looks to me that the appropriate way to get it actually drawn on the screen is to use an ImageView in the actual layout, then when it is updating, create a ShapeDrawable or two and draw them onto a newly created Bitmap. Then, set that Bitmap as the source of the ImageView. There is Something about that process that I'm just not grokking, though. The following is the code I tried to use to update the widget. I get nothing drawn on the screen at all. The ImageView has a placeholder image just set by its src property. When I don't run the code to update it to my drawing, the placeholder image stays in place. So, I know this code is doing something, just obviously not the right thing.

RemoteViews views = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.widget);
Bitmap bitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(100, 100, Config.ARGB_8888);
Canvas canvas = new Canvas(bitmap);

ShapeDrawable drawable = new ShapeDrawable(new ArcShape(0, 360));
drawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffff0000);
drawable.getPaint().setStrokeWidth(5.0f);
drawable.setIntrinsicWidth(100);
drawable.setIntrinsicHeight(100);
drawable.draw(canvas);

views.setImageViewBitmap(R.id.ImageView01, bitmap);
appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(appWidgetId, views);

I knew it couldn't be that easy. So, am I even heading in the right direction? Update Ok, maybe that was too much information. The question I'm really trying to ask is this: If I want to draw shapes on a widget, should I use an ImageView and create a bitmap from my ShapeDrawable or is there more appropriate way to draw into a widget where it is constrained by RemoteViews?

Android :: GLSurfaceView Swaps 2D Bitmaps Being Drawn / Cause Of This Can Be?

Sep 8, 2010

I have an application that receives information from a database, and is used to visualize 2D bitmaps onto a GLSurfaceView. The information received will determine the x-position of the bitmap, and which bitmap image to use (there are 4 different bitmaps in my res folder to choose from).

Below are the three classes that are being used. The Activity sets the Shapes objects that need to be drawn by passing an ArrayList to the GLLayer class. This ArrayList is passed to the instance of ShapeStorage class via another setList method. This class is responsible for drawing when they are received.

The problem that I'm having is the following. Suppose I receive one object (let's say that it's a square at it's located at x=1). Some time goes by, and I receive another shape (this time, it's a triangle, and it's located at x=-1). However, when this new shape appears on the screen, the old bitmap's appearance changes to a triangle, and the new one becomes a square. In other words, the objects themselves are at the correct position that they are supposed to be at, but the bitmap being associated with them has changed. Does anyone know what the possible cause of this can be? I'm still a newbie to OpenGL-ES, and while this code looks very convoluted, it just involves setting a bunch of various properties for the View. code...
