Nov 7, 2009Let's share info on how we who have poor eyesight can better use our Android phones, what do you say?
1. A program called Spare Parts would allow you to increase font size for many apps. Does not work for the HTC Hero (OS 1.5). Unknown if it woks for any other OS or phone that is currently in existence.
2. A program called Bettercut allows you to create a Display shortcut and use that to enlarge text on some apps. Does not work on the HTC Hero (1.5). Developer says it may be because of the special Home screen the Hero has. Unknown if it works for any other OS or phone.
3. Browser allows you to zoom in out of the box (unless you searched google!)
4. Do OS versions 1.6 and 2.0 allow one to enlarge text out of the box?

Nov 20, 2009A user of my Android App reported that he was seeing tiny text. How is this possible? More importantly, how can I use the emulator to be sure that my changes will fix it?This user has a Motorola DROID phone, which has a different screen resolution and maybe other slight differences.I assume that the problem was I didn't test using the right screen size. However, I followed the instructions here and tested a larger screen and the text was fine. I know my app has fixed pixel heights like this: android:layout_height="64px" and I use text side parameters like: android:textSize="14sp" or android:textSize="12pt"

Sep 2, 2010I'm very happy with my new smartphone, the Galaxy S from Samsung . I don't use any protection for the screen, so i wipe out the "fingerprints" with something to make it nice and shiny! However i did use, several times, paper tissues. Big mistake. If i hold down the phone in bright light, i see tiny scratches on the surface .
So only use cloth and nothing less if you don't use protection, but NEVER use paper tissues!

HTC Hero :: Eyesight Cannot Cope With Tiny Text
Feb 9, 2010before my 14 day change your mind period is up. Simple reason is because my eyesight cannot cope with the tiny text. Even with wearing my reading glasses i still felt strained. Such a great phone let down by something so easily fixable. I tried the Spare Parts app but it only works with some functions. I know countless other people have had this problem.

What I have accomplished so far
1) I have the tiny wings charactor heading downward angeled left when screen starts
2) When the tiny wings charactor lands on the ground , he bounces upward at angle
3) When you press the screen the tiny wings charactor will make a quick dive down.
4) I have a score thats triggered when the bird collides with the ground
5) Reset button to reposition the tiny wings bird.
Need to :
1) Making the screen scroll to the right
2) Making platforms appear as screen goes to the right
3) Who to contact so I can make a larger file size game, so that I can add the music

I was just wondering is it possible to make the icons more distinguishable, like the espn or cnn icon on the moment? Sep 18, 2010all in my application I want to read data from web page. if data at web page is upto 800kb then I am able to read it succesfully, but if data is larger then I get OutofMemoryException.I think it is because I am using condition as while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null) and in phone there is not much memory to read such a long string. I think I must have to read some part of string then write that part into some file in phone and read another part of string and write into phone but I don't know how to do that? Please help me solve this issue.

Nov 10, 2010I am just starting developing first app and not sure which way is the best fit for my needs.The key is to download a page source, get small part of it and display it using Android UI, with possibility to submit it later as a form action.The simplest way would be probably to ditch UI and go with WebView however I decided to parse it into UI, so no WebView for me.Currently I am trying to download page source using org.apache packages (from SDK Wiktionary simplified sample) and parse it using some regex (this will give me known incompatibilities when website changes layout but I am willing to go this way). Question is: is there a better/faster/easier way to pull the source of webpage (or part of it)? Or I will have to stick to org.apache due to the fact I want to submit a form based on user selection)? Maybe someone got a hold to more source code examples of similar app ?

This is being loaded into an activity that has just the WebView and a Button below the WebView inside a RelativeLayout. It works fine in the emulator on Android 1.6, 2.1, and 2.2. However, it does not show the webpage in Android 1.5. To strip things down to a bare minimum,
