Android :: Accurate Weather Forecast Application?
Dec 28, 2009I hope this is the right section to post this, I have an HTC / G2 on a T-Mobile UK contract. I'm after a good weather forecast app that works well for the UK and Europe. I also use WeatherPro on my iPOD Touch (when I can link up to my home WiFi) and it is great - it picks up small towns, gives 5 day forecasts, 24 hour forecasts broken down into 3 hour time slots, shows satellite and radar, temperatures in 'F and 'C, windspeed and direction. It is very accurate too! I can't find it on the Android Market though.

Android :: Weather Widgets - Innacurate And Gets A Lot Of Forecast Error Messages
Dec 9, 2009I have found that most of the weather Widgets either look very pretty or are functional and accurate. Never both! I have yet to find one that does both well. I really like the weather apparently and have tri ed a bunch of them.but have yet to find one u really really like. Weather bug is accurratr but the widget is kind of boring. The weather Widgets widget looks great on my desktop but is innacurate and gets a lot of forecast error messages.

I have found that it is not very accurate; my friend's app on his iphone (Yahoo, I believe) is better. Can you change the standard one on the HD? Also the standard app does not support many towns in the UK.

May 18, 2010Ex-Blackberry user here. I had and Loved Berry Weather by Bellshare. I cannot for the life of me find something comparable. I love the HTC weather widget, but want to be able to see other weather related items like % chance of rain, hourly etc. I have weather.com's install as a supplement to HTC's, but I'd rather have something all inclusive. I do not mind paying money for this. Any help on a Good weather app?

Oct 2, 2009I'm the happy owner of an Hero since one week but I have an "issue" with the Weather widget, the widget itself and the info under the clock in the home page. I live in France but I work in another country, I've not enabled auto data roaming as it costs a lot. Problem is that at 6:30am for instance the forecasts are updated, then I cross the border, data mode becomes disable and then 6h after, the logo still shows a moon and the 7C based on 6:30 update. And it stays in this useless state until 6pm when I leave the roaming mode returning to France.
How can I make the 2 widgets showing estimated forecast (looks like 3 days are available) even if no update is possible ? Before the Hero I was using a Winphone with SBP Mobile Shell and the weather widget was taking care of the time of the day to change the logo/forecast even not connected. If not possible with the HTC, could you point me to a weather widget more "clever" than this one?
Motorola Droid X :: Auto Weather Refresh When Forecast Opened
Aug 11, 2010Just curious if this has been discussed or suggested to the developers? What I mean is, when I tap the weather icon to open up the forecast, it would be nice if that triggered a refresh of the weather data, regardless of what my refresh intervals are. I know that I can go to menu and click refresh, but it seems like this would be a nice toggle option. I went to the BW website but didn't see an email option or some way to suggest this. Anyone know how to contact them? Twitter?

Nov 2, 2010I have a ListActivity and a MapActivity. I would like to launch either one of these activities on application startup that has been chosen by the user in a preferences window.
So far the only way I see to launch an activity on application startup is to specify it in the application manifest file using...code...
I am thinking I might have to start an activity that does nothing but looks at the user preferences and then launches either the ListActivity or MapActivity. Seems like a waste to have an activity do nothing but launch another activity. In my research I have not found any solution to this problem.

Jun 10, 2010I have an Eris and running 2.1 (not rooted) Just started using Launcher Pro. One problem to resolve. I installed Beautiful Widgets - Home as I thought it acted the same as it does on HTC Sense. The location is good, the time is good but when I touch the weather part of the widget, it stays static. I expected to get to see the "forecast" for the next few days.
Also I expected it to be somewhat animated when it is invoked (fog, rain drops, sun throbbing, windshield wipers) as that's the way it is on HTC. I thinks some of you are using this app here on LP. Can you tell me what settings to use to get these features (animated weather and weather forecast) to work? Do I have to download and use a skin other than the default one? If this is a Beautiful Widgets developer question. Does someone have the developer's email as it's not provided in the site (in France I believe).

And so on. Every root tag is different. Now I know that I could branch the parser to trigger a different event on every root tag but I'm not quite sure I know how exactly do achieve this.
How would I tell my SAX handler that he should parse for AnotherInnerTag with its attributes based on the root tag?

Aug 22, 2010I am looking for an app, that say when I go to bed at 2300, it auto silences. It goes back to loud at 0600. When I get to work at 0800, it silences again. Yet, when my GF calls, I want it to always override and ring no matter what time it is.Are there any programs like this that will work for what I want?

If you forget to silence your ringer and the phone rings, the judge takes the phone and you have to travel back to the courthouse at the end of the day to recover it. The judge also gets really really mad and gives lots of grief. So I need a failsafe way to automatically turn off the ringer while in the courthouse. I read this thread Set profile by GPS location about a program named Locale, but it indicated that if the phone loses the GPS signal, Locale will automatically revert the phone to the default profile or some other profile. I come from a Symbian phone where the phone would "learn" every cell tower ID in a given area and then set the phone's profile upon getting a signal from one of those towers. The profile would stick, regardless of losing the signal, unless and until it got a signal from a different tower which was not on the list it had "learned" from the location area. That is failsafe. Is there anything for an Android based phone which will silence the ring on a failsafe basis?

When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch.
Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place.
MyApplication is my application.

Sep 14, 2010I have been playing around with Timeriffic (great app!) and wondered if anyone knows if there is a way to have Auto Rotate of screen to not be enabled say, from 23:00 until 7:00?Even a separate (freeware) app would be okay as I don't see Timeriffic doing this? Maybe I'm missing something, but surely if the first statement is true then the 2nd statement must also be true, and so the first download link could be removed all together? Could a user rooting from 0.75 - 1.15 use the 2nd download link?
I've already rooted, but this has annoyed me since I saw it and just wondered if the 2nd download wording is correct or if it should be reworded somewhat.

One that can compile and run on a 1.5 phone (SDK3) and then one that works on 2.0(SDK5) So for this example i'll call the 1.5 file ExampleOld and the new one Example. I was wondering if i just made activity like this if it would work sort of like a "portal" and pick the activity to load depending on the SDK so there is no crash or compile errors. Are there any changes I should make to my code? Maybe anyone out there that's had to do this before.

HTC EVO 4G :: Weird Battery Life Depending On How It's Charged / USB
Jul 18, 2010We charge our EVO's (2 of them) each night using the wall plug and, of course, the light is green when we wake up. However, when we unplug them from the wall the battery charge percentage drops from 100% to about 92% within a few minutes without doing a thing. Now, at that time if I put it back on the charger but this time plugged into the USB on my computer it charges back to the 100% and then takes a long time to trickle down to the 92% (seriously, like 90 minutes including some usage in there). I know there's some differences in the 2 charging methods. The wall charger charges much faster. But, it appears to be giving a false sense of a complete charge. The USB takes much longer (almost like a trickle charge) but seems to last longer.Anyone else experiencing this? Have an answer? Solution?

Apr 21, 2010Can you set the scenes to automatically switch depending on time of day on the phone? I'd definitely use them if at 8am Mon-Fri the scene switched to Work. At 6pm Mon-Thur it would be nice for it to switch to the default home screen. 6pm Fri I'd like it to switch to the Play scene. Is this a capability or do you have to change them manually via menu system?
