View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of a problem with a custom button style. I have the button states (9-patch drawables) set up in a <selector> drawable. The style I'm going for is a button that looks like it gets pushed down, i.e., you can see the front edge of the button until you press it. It works fine for the button itself, but the contents of the Button (or ImageButton) don't move when pressed, even though I have the 9-patch areas set up to move the content area for the depressed button states. It seems like it's keeping the same 9-patch areas no matter which image it's showing.
Here's an animated GIF to help make the problem a little clearer, since I'm awful at explaining things: http://www.crappytools.net/button_problem.gif The button moves when pressed, but the icon inside stays still. I played with the Draw 9-Patch utility, and it shows that the content area in the depressed image should be shifting downwards like intended.
I have a webview in my program. I loaded a string into this webview that contains javascript function. When i loaded it in the emulator it's not working i.e if I write a simple alert the webView won't display the alert. I have enabled the javascript. But then also its not working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy employer is having me work on an android application with very specific UI requirements. Specifically, we need an interface that looks exactly like a TabWidget interface. However, having the tabs on the left hand side is an absolute must. We aren't going to be deploying this application to any android phones, its for an in house device, and as such don't have any problem violating any design considerations that the android platform might have.
We already have a working prototype that hacks together the functionality we need using a combination of focus listeners and list views. It isn't pretty, and we aren't very confident in it just yet, but it works for the time being.
What we'd really like is to throw all of our prototype UI code away in exchange for using the built in TabWidget. However, since TabWidget is hardcoded to only work with the tabs on top, this isn't really an option.
So, we are hoping that someone out there has a patch, or set of patches, or perhaps a custom class, that handles the TabWidget functionality with the tabs on the side instead?
The relevant code for the TabWidget is here: http://www.google.com/codesearch/p?hl=en#uX1GffpyOZk/core/java/android/widget/TabWidget.java&q=android%20package:git://android.git.kernel.org%20lang:java%20tabwidget&sa=N&cd=1&ct=rc
And the specific function that is hardcoded for being tabs on top is

Is it possible to pass a JavaScript object from JavaScript to Java using addJavascriptInterface()? Something along these lines: var javaScriptObject = {"field1":"string1", "field2":"string2"}; JavaScriptInterface.passObject(javaScriptObject); How would such a call be captured on the Java side? I have no problem setting up the interface to send a string, but when I send an object, I receive null on the Java end.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been following a discussion on the apparent lack of JavaScript and Java on Android browsers. One of my hot button applications requires either JavaScript or at least the ability to run a .jar file in order to save data. No one in the other discussion has been able to find a Android browser capable of supporting this application (TiddlyWiki)..
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm making an Javascript web app and I can't for the life of me get the touchstart event to fire. I get the touchmove and touchend events no problem. This is a problem because as I see it the best way to distinguish between a tap and a scrolling motion is to zero a counter on the touchstart event, update it at touchmove and then compare it at touchend. I'm doing this so I can do some action at the end of tap but not a scroll. For instance, it would be very confusing if a page opened for an item in a listed after you finished scrolling down that list, but it would be nice to be able to tap on an item to open its page.
This is what I have..
I never see the touchstart alert. If I scroll the touchend will fire and app__touchMoving will have some sort of decent value. On a side note, I've noticed that sometimes the touchend will seem to fire multiple times.
Am I missing something basic here? Plenty of people say that this should work just fine on Android (and iPhone) yet the first listener never seems to fire.
Update: I should mention that I've been testing on a Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.1.
I am trying to set the value of a global variable from Android code..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am forced to open a new topic, as one of the SE member stated to open it to get it answered. Sounds funky, right? I am reading every post that is getting flooded here in the SE Community Talk, and believe me, 95% is about Problems. 4% are expecting to get it fixed sooner or later. 1% are satisfied. With this we can figure out how much customers SE has collected by selling his product. This discussion is only to list the Problem in points and not in summary or paragraph styles. Let SE and other XDA developers look into this and make appropriate patches or upgrades to get it all fixed. We can number the problem in series in Red (spoon feeding SE), so that SE knows what to handle in priority. [once the problem listed is over, let us also list the benefits of SE in Green to make ourselves and SE happy too]
Having said this, let me begin the list I am facing:
1. Low Call Volume
2. Feeble Sound output
3. Poor indoor camera
4. Camera outputs blurs
5. Video outputs blurs
6. No live wallpapers (animating)
7. Latest apps/games not supporting 1.6
8. Picking the call 'always' by swiping is awkard
9. Dialing a number from Contact has become a long process
10. When ear-phone is plugged, ringtone does not ring in earphone
11. Not supporting Java apps (mchek, ICICI Bank)
12. Not supporting paid apps in Market (india)
13. Cant use 'enter' in default messaging (sends it). Using other apps (chomp/ handcent/...) has the option to line break SMS
14. Email signature not possible in default Email app. (need to rely on K9 Mail)
15. Moxier mail lies idle (those who do not have exchange server). Can't even uninstall it.
16. Apps gets installed in phone memory
17. Name gets wrongly geo-tagged
1. Love Timescape
2. Love Mediascape
3. Love big screen
4. Love plenty of apps
5. Fast performance
6. Good browser
7. Good capacitive touch
