View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 7 tablet. After I "View" and then "Save" photos received as attachments from Gmail, the thumbnail icons appear in Gallery but I can't thereafter open them. When I go into Gallery and touch the photo thumbnail, all I get is a black screen. The file's thumbnail icon in the Gallery is a generic icon and not the usual small thumbnail of the photo itself.
How do I view photos downloaded or saved to the Gallery? I haven't changed any Settings which may or may not affect viewing.
I tried searching for this information but could not find anything about it. I am considering an Android device (one of the ones on the Rogers network in Canada - and yes I am aware of the "they're all on 1.5 with a chance that they will never be updated" issue) but have some uncertainties. From what I have read, I can use the HTC Sync app bundled with the Magic/Dream to get my Outlook (pst) contacts into a Gmail account (which is the primary repository for all PIM info in Android, right?) and then the Google Calendar sync to get my Outlook (again, pst) calendar events. Super. Completely understand that (assuming what I said was right).I've also read (repeatedly) about how you can only have one gmail account in the mail application. I can tolerate that (don't like it, but can live with it). However, if my understanding is correct, Android comes with a Mozilla HTML browser, right? If I opened that and went to http://mail.google.com/ would it open the primary gmail account (the one the phone is linked to) or would it prompt for user/password? Further, if it does autologin, what if I clicked the sign out link and logged in as a different user? Would the phone go "kerpluey"? To be clear, I'm not expecting Android to sync ANYTHING from this other account; just wondering if I could access (read/respond) the gmail via the web browser. (Example: we're out and my wife wants to look up something in her gmail account using my Android smartphone is that possible?)Also, I read about some people discussing the installation of a second instance of the gmail app to get multiple account support. Is that even possible on 1.5? What would it do to things like contacts?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have several gmail mail calendars and unfortunately, the Android phone (HTC Magic OS 1.5 in my case) only allows for one account for the calendar. The same goes for the gmail app, which also only allows for one account.I can get around the email situation by using the mail app... but thus far, I have not had any success finding an app that supports more than one calendar. Every non-Android phone I had in the past could handle more than one calendar! Can anyone suggest the appropriate app that will solve this issue?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs this possible? Seems like a simple matter of just clicking on each picture, for example, but it only says "Choose one" at a time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I get my activity chooser for my ACTION_GET_CONTENT Intent there is applications I don't want to be there, like the ones who will first create content and then pass the URI to me, like the Voice Recorder. When you use Gmail and try to attach a file you will only see the applications/activities that picks data from your SDCard like Gallery, and in my case Astro (file manager application).
So my question is, what kind of Intent does Gmail use for their Attach? Here is my code, something must be missing since I get applications like Voice Recorder and so on.
Intent action = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT);
action = action.setType("*/*").addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_OPENABLE);
startActivityForResult(Intent.createChooser(action, "Upload file from..."), 1);
Not sure if I am being an idiot but is there anyway of saving attachments from the gmail app? I can open them but cannot see an option anywhere to save it? Also if forwarding an email is there anyway of not including the quoted text?

Is it possible with this app to view PDF mail attachments?
When I click preview it opens an empty window ..
I use gmail. I get attachments. I am trying to find a means to be able to save these attachments directly to SD card. For example,
jpgs/png/gif, not a problem. docs/xls/txt, I can peview, but not save them. problem is if I get a 3g2 file, I cannot preview or save the file. Sometimes I get videos from client's phones and I can nor longer view them remotely. With my winmo phone, I was able to at least detach them to the SD card. Bottom line, is there ANY way, app or otherwise, to just simply have a "download" button?
Is there a way to open attachments in either gmail or the imap email with out having to have ms office?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using my Droid for about a week now and would like some suggestions or help with three frustrations I have with the default Gmail app in 2.0:
1. The Reply/Forward buttons are all the way at the bottom of the message - which is very frustrating when you're trying to respond to a long email thread that has a billion embedded replies. How are you dealing with that, other than scrolling all the way to the bottom? Shouldn't reply/forward buttons be available on-screen at all times? (The hardware option button doesn't present "reply" or "forward" among the popup choices, either).
2. When I forward mail with attachments, I can't predict whether the attachments will forward or not. So far, it seems like they don't go through more often than not. Is there a setting somewhere I need to throw to make attachments work reliably?
Is there any way to download attachments from the Gmail app rather than going to the browser version? This is kinda annoying as I have to either login to my gmail through the browser or forward the mail to my other email account.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out why some of the thumbnails of attached pictures don't automatically show up when I open the message. It seems like when I open an older message that has 5 or more pictures in it, it will not show the thumbnails, so I have to go through and click preview to see them. And then it will only keep the thumbnails visible for the first 5 that I previewed. And sometimes it won't show any of of the thumbnails when I open a message, even if its only 1 or 2 pictures.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have read a few threads about getting a message that they can't download them but i'm getting a "preview" button.i press it and am able to view the attachment but can't(don't know how) to download it to my sd.?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever someone sends me a pic or any other kind of file, my Evo's gmail just sits there swirling and swirling. Takes minutes to download anything. Is there some setting I'm missing or is this a broader issue?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi cant download attachments from gmail on my phone. when i see an attachment, i click to install.. but all i see is that it says'fetching' but nothing is downloaded.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI sent myself an attachement - sent to my gmail account. I can see the email, can see the attached file's name. Can't do a damn thing with it! Can't even SAVE to phone... wtf? Am I missing something? I mean - it's about as stupid as having segregated "Gmail" and "Email" apps on a single phone.
View 5 Replies View Relatedall the customization Android allows Google didn't create a Gmail App that makes it impossible to save attachments to your SD card/internal memory. I have tried searching around here and it seems the EVO folks are stuck as well. Would Google really stop us from doing something so essential? And I know you can in HTC Mail, but I have notification issues with HTC Mail that I can't deal with (like the notification sound continuing perpetually when a new email arrives).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded the palm doc reader (yay!) I attached them and sent them to my gmail. gmail wont even allow me to click on the attachments in gmail. I really want to be able to read my books (I have TONS)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a non-rooted 2.2 Inc with the 2.3 version G mail app. Since updating to 2.3, I can no longer preview/download attachments. The app gets stuck on "Fetching Attachment" and eventually force closes. I've sought help from Google but there's no official answer to this issue. Does anyone here have any advice? I've even gone so far as to do a factory reset, but to no avail. Like many of you, the Incredible is my workhorse on the road and I desperately need the ability to open attachments.

When I receive an email with attachment, gmail gives me three options, one is to save them. I would like to know if i press save, in which folder do they get saved so that i can then view them or use the files to send/upload somewhere else?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen receiving pictures through gmail (I simply use the gmail app) they don't automatically appear in the email, like it does on my girlfriends Captivate through the gmail app. She didn't do anything special, just set up email and when she receives pics when she opens the email they're just there. Now there is the download and preview button next to the attachments but when I hit those my phone just says "fetching attachment, please wait". I've left my phone for at least 5 minutes and it will just sit on that screen. On one pic I did let it sit for a few minutes, gave up waiting, but noticed the pic later in my dowloaded folder. But this is the only pic it's done that with. So I would a way to get the pics to just show up in my email when I open the email, or not have to wait minutes on end for a pic to maybe get downloaded. I feel like there should be some solution without me having to download some app, since my girl's phone can do it.
