I am attempting to have a new view appear on top of my main view. Here is the XML for the new view:

When I comment out setContentView(boardView); in my Game.java my custom view in BoardView works fine and displays everything nicely... but onSizeChanged never gets called in BoardView.java... so I can't read the device width and height at runtime. If I leave setContentView uncommented onSizeChanged works... but the screen is blank! I want to be able to read the screen width and height at runtime and set the sizes of my ImageViews at creation so they are the optimal size.

I am trying to set up a ViewFlipper that changes a SlidingDrawers content each time a button is pressed. So far every view I set up worked fine, but now I am trying to create a ListView (including single_choice_mode) within a child view of the ViewFlipper, but my attempt only let to a NullPointerException. As I only discovered ViewFlipper today, I am not yet familiar with it and may not have understood it completely. if someone could give me a hand and help me find out what I have done wrong, that would be great. Here is what I have done:

When this displays the first two rows of the listview appear under the tabs, the Mercury, and Venus planets. How do I get the tabs to occupy the top and the listview rows to start after the tabs?

I have created a release keystore using the Eclipse IDE. I signed it using keytool and registered on Google Maps. I plugged in the key but my map doesn't show up. Maps show up properly when I use the key associated with my debug keystore. How can I diagnose this? I followed the same steps as i did with debug, for release.

When running on droid X my app does not show buttons that are written in xml. I only found this after releasing my app and users reported it. This XML code does not appear on Droid X.

I have several subscribe-to podcast feeds in Google Reader. When hit 'refresh' in Listen, no feeds or podcasts ever appear. Is there a setting I need to change? I realize this is part of 'Labs', but seeing there are many who use this app, it must be something I'm overlooking.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn Android, I have some code to check whether the user has GPS switched on, and launch the Settings for them to turn it on if they don't.However, I'm finding that if the user opens the Settings, turns GPS on, then carries on using the app as normal, there is an odd problem. Often, when the user reopens the app, the Settings are at the front. How can I set them so they don't keep reappearing?I wonder if I should be using the CLEAR_TOP flag or something similar.I've tried looking at the docs for the Activity flags but find them a bit confusing.

My Manifest file looks like this: I recently got an email from a user saying the application doesn't show up in the Market on an HTC Wildfire. I looked it up and the Wildfire is a QVGA (LDPI, 240x320) device running Android 2.1. The app does appear for MDPI and HDPI devices. Also, I can start up a QVGA 2.1 emulator and install the application without any problems.

I am experiencing a problem with my app. The 1st screen that appears is a map that displays pins that are located based on an XML file that is loaded from our server.
Sometimes the app loads as expected. Other times, the map loads but none of the pins appear until you touch the screen.
I am having a problem whereby when i open my app from the main screen, whether for the first time or not, when i click one of the buttons to show a toast message, the first time i click the button the toast message doesnt appear but it does appear for the 2nd and every subsequent click. if i then go home and launch my app again i have to wait for the 2 click to see a toast. does anyone know why this may be?

When I take pictures using android.hardware.camera and I save them to the following location /SD card/dcim/camera/ they don't appear when I launch the gallery. Is there a process for getting them to show up in the gallery that I missed?I can see my images using a file explorer and know they have been saved.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen your intent kicks knocked on the head by the OS and then restored / recreated (for example when you slide out the keyboard on the G1) if you have a ListView populated with items in an activity they appear after the recreate. However, if you have a dialog box full of list items and do the same steps, the ListView comes back up empty when the window is redrawn after the slide.
Is this an Android bug? My list is a pain in the neck to pack into a bundle, it consists of Address objects, and there might be ten of them. Am I doing something "un-android?" I'm thinking of just dimissing the dialog when this happens. But calling dismiss in onRestore (for the dialog) doesn't seem to work.
Is there any way to prevent the soft keyboard from appearing through out my application? I have implemented my custom keyboard and do not want the soft keyboard from appearing on focus of the EditText. is there any way or is setting the input type for each EditText as TYPE_NULL the only way.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI made each image a different color so I can tell if it is loading the right image. When I test my program on different density screens it only chooses the mdpi images. It scales them to match the correct dpi but doesn't choose the right folder. It just defaults to mdpi. In the manifest I have, android:normalScreens="true" android:anyDensity="false"
Anyone have a similar problem? I'm sure it is something simple that I am overlooking but I can't figure it out. From what I read on the Android Support Multiple Screens guide is that you should just have to put the different density images in their correct folders and Android will do the rest.
I am using the AVD manager in eclipse. Is there a setting that I can use to stop the on screen keyboard appearing when an input field has focus? I tried has hardware keyboard = true, but then the emulator doesn't seem to start at all :-S
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy family has got three android phones, an HTC Hero, a Samsung Galaxy, and a T-Mobile Pulse, all are running android 1.5 with the latest manufacturer firmware. On the T-Mobile Pulse, when searching for a couple of apps (ones that I have installed on the other two devices), I get returned 'no matches'. For example, if I search for 'BrightAI', which is a developer who has around 8 apps on the market, I get no matches. If I search for individual apps, I get 'no matches'. Searching for the same on either the Hero or Galaxy returns the expected results. Does anyone have any ideas why certain apps are accessible on one device, but not the other?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that the zoom controls don't appear on the mapview after one click, i.e the first click after the application loads. (I am using the deprecated version.)
In my application, on a click I position a pushpin on the touched location and also generate a toast with the co-ordinates. After I click the map, the pin is re-loacated and the toast are generated (albeit a bit late, I guess because of the time for which they have to say on screen)
What is happening wrong? What gives? Are the two activities (pin and toast) stealing the touch event?
