View 1 RepliesIn my program it adds a shortcut to the screen. I get the icon on the screen fine, but when I tap it, I get:

I can't add a shortcut to a Phone app (it's the app where you enter dial numbers, call someone). Need it on my home screen, but there wasn't it when flashed the rom, in drawer too. And no options which can add it. I'm using CM 10.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is going to sound odd, but I am trying to make a shortcut on my homescreen to email myself. This seems simple, but it looks like whenever I put a contact in my address book with ANY of my email addresses, it isn't available to be used for a shortcut. Try this and tell me that I'm not going crazy. ...but please TRY it before you post the instructions. I say this because I got my boss to try it and he thought I was being a smartass until he tried to do it. A shortcut to email to myself is really helpful for tracking things and is like a to do list for me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis question might be specific to HTC phones, but I'm not sure. I have various bookmarks for sites with decent webapps that I'd like to have as icons on my homescreen. What I would like is for their icons to be specific to the site (like iOS or BlackBerry), but instead what happens is I get the ugly red HTC Sense bookmark icon for each of them. Any way to get the site-specific icons to appear (or if it's even possible)?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIssue with a custom ROM I've been playing around with in an attempt at customizing it to meet my personal needs.
Basically, the custom ROM installation removes old, unwanted .apk's from the stock image it is replacing. This is done by a script/command in the META-INF->com->google->android->updater-script file. Here's an excerpt as an example:
Code:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
show_progress(1, 100);
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");delete("/system/app/Launcher2.apk");
However, while the script works perfectly to remove the actual apk's/apps from the device, once the custom ROM is loaded, the old shortcuts (to some of the apps that were uninstalled) remain on the homescreen (these shortcuts are placed there by default by the stock ROM). If you try to tap the shortcut, it simply states something to the effect of "this application is not installed on your device". While these "dead" shortcuts can be moved to the trash bin and deleted from the homescreen, it'd be nice if I could make it so the custom ROM installation automatically does this.
I've tried modifying the Launcher2.apk to reflect the changes I am looking for; but to no avail. In the Launcher2 /res/xml/default_workspace.xml file, I am easily able to specify which apps I do want shortcuts placed on the homescreen for during the installation. But - there doesn't seem to be a way for me to issue a command to remove the old, unwanted shortcuts and these "dead" shortcuts are present nonetheless, despite whatever changes I make to the default_workspace.xml (it does add my "new" shortcuts, though).
Any way that this could be done during the actual custom ROM installation process? And where would I add it to (default_workspace.xml, Android Manifest.xml, framework-res.apk, boot.img...
I am looking for a way to make a homescreen shortcut to start the ics built in recent apps dialog.
How to start it via activity or intent?
I am using cm9 on a galaxy s2 with apex launcher
do i need to close/delete the widgets/icons on my original homescreen? do these still run and take up resources or does it not matter? logic tells me yes, but im not familiar with linux and how it runs.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've asked "how to detect home screen" before. I'm still searching. I noticed when I press "home" button on Android emulator, I got this statement in catalog so I went to ActivityManager to see if I can find a clue there. Here is my findings: 1. I can not instantiate ActivityManager because it's constructor is not public, and it's not a singleton 2. it has a function called: getRunningAppProcesses sounds promising -- would it give me all the running processes? 3. since I can not instantiate ActivityManager I tried to use one of the derived class: RunningAppProcesseInfo to see if I can use it's parent methods: getRunningAppProcesses. Nope.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working on an app that has a homescreen. This homescreen should behave like the android homescreen where you can switch between several views by flinging your finger over the touch screen.
The solution is easy. I have 3 view instances, right, left and current view. I get this instances from the viewflipper that I initialized earlier. Since I have a HTC G1 my sreen is 320 px in width and 480 px in height.
Imagine you capture the down value of a action down motion event when you touch the screen. Then you move your finger and the screen should move in exactly the same way so you have to recalculate the view's position. It works for me so far but I am facing a strange problem. When you touch the right view without moving you finger but keeping it on the screen for less then a second the view disappears and shows the left view.
Here is my code:..........................
I think such a Homescreen for your own app could be a interestion UI element.
How do i remove a app from the home screen without deleating it ? or does that just remove it from home screen?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhomescreen 3D - Android program launcher on Vimeo. with a few more updates, this could be awesome. it removes the ability to use widgets and stuff, but it's very smooth scrolling and on my vibrant it looks so cool. i'm not the dev or the maker of the video. just someone wanting to mention this cool app.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have App Monster, which is GREAT to redownload all apps after a hard reset or device switch, but setting up all my icons and widgets etc. on the various homescreen is a tedious task.
Any homescreen savers out there? I'm imaging a scenario where I could manually redownload the apps (using App Monster this is a piece of cake), and then activate the homescreen saver app to instantly populate my homescreens just as they were prior to a hard reset.
It would interesting to see how people are organizing their desktop/home screen. I have read a few people's random forum posts but this might help some of us learn a new trick or tip.

I am sick of dealing with only 3 panels on my DROID! I have searched around the internet and have found no results. I was told to use a home screen replacement, which I tried, and that did not work. Does anyone know of a simple app that has JUST the functionality to add more home screen panels to stock Android (2.0), and if not is there a developer out there that could make this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use a ViewFlipper and make it act like the home screen(The layout will move with your finger). Check out this for an example. I want to do this with a ViewFlipper that only contains two children so the opposite view should be shown on either side of the current view depending on which way the user moves their finger. This code works but only for 1 direction at a time. This is in onTouchEvent.

Which ever of the bottom two lines I put last that direction will work correctly but the other will not.
Here is how I set the leftView and rightView:

I know a lot of websites now use an "apple-touch-icon" file to allow iPhone users to put a logo'd bookmark onto their homescreen. Is there a way to do similar on Android (specifically HTC Sense).
Whenever I try I just get the Sense bookmark icon, with a tiny favicon image in the bottom corner of it.
Are there any guides on how to use activity shortcuts on the home screen? eg. Hold down finger -> Add Shortcut -> Activities -> ...
Specifically I want the vlingo app icon to open vlingo and start speaking right away. Similar to the vlingo widget, but I need to do this with an icon shortcut.
I've searched for quite some time over this forum and also using Google, so I hope I'm not duplicating a thread.
Does anyone know if there is any way of returning to the homescreen after sending an SMS? I have a Desire Z and whilst it's only a case of pressing the home key, it's a small gripe as I have to flip the keyboard back in and press home.
I'm using the default SMS application and I'm not too fussed on external SMS apps as I don't like the graphics (I've tried Handcent and the default Android skin still isn't quite the same), plus the only real reason I wanted them was to change the LED colour, but that doesn't work either. Anyways, if anyone has some ideas please feel free to let me know.
Looking for a tweak or an App that is basically a shortcut tool I have long e-mail addresses and passwords, if there was a shortcut app that would be great.
