Android : Change Text When Scanning Barcodes With Zxing Via Intent In Droid?
Aug 10, 2010Is it possible to change prompt text that says "place the barcode inside the viewfinder..." when launching Barcode scanner (zxing) via intent (Intent intent = new Intent("com.google.zxing.client.android.SCAN")) ?
I want to have prompt in my language, how should i do that?
Android :: ZXing Doesn't Read 1D Barcode In Droid App / Fix For This?
Oct 2, 2010I am developing a new application which hopefully will use a barcode reader to scan and find books. I will then use the ISBN information to get more information.
The intents work and I can scan 2d barcodes OK but not the 1d barcodes of books which I know scan fine using the full application.
This is my code. I have tried it without putting the intent extras and it doesn't change anything. code...
Is there something obvious I am missing? The settings in the app also are selected on 1d scanning only.
HTC Incredible :: Barcode Scanning App Unable To Focus On Barcode
Apr 29, 2010Just got my droid incredible tonight and when trying to use the barcode scanner app it keeps trying to focus and just as it is about to lock in on the bar code, it goes out of focus and back in focus again... and repeats over and over.I tried cleaning the glass but it is pretty darn clean. Anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts?

Jul 15, 2010I send backup tapes offsite each day, and every day I have to write down the barcode numbers and print them off so the driver can sign for them to say he has taken them.I know there is a 101 apps to scan, but they are all for shopping, is there a free app that will simply let me scan more than 1 item at a time, then show the scanned items in a report so I can email it myself from my phone?Just a text file that list barcodes in a row would be nice.

May 11, 2010Alright, so I'm trying to write a program for Android for a project for school, I figured out how to use Intents to scan, but once I find a product, how do I get that info into my app? For example, say I'm getting info from upcdatabase.com, I would just add the barcode number to the end of the url, but then how to I draw that data in? The same with Google search, how would I draw the data and the image of the item into the app?

Jan 10, 2010I seem to be the only one having this problem. I got my Hero about a week ago and stumbled upon this thread, so I figured I'd try some of these apps out. Well, when I scan the barcode, three options come up, two of which are to share the URL, the other, to open the browser. Naturally, I pick the first to open the browser only to receive an error message "There are no matches in android market for the search: XXXX". What am I doing wrong? Also, I wanted to make sure my build number was correct as it suggests at the top of the thread, but I couldn't find anything like that on the HTC website.

May 21, 2010I just a update to rom manager and now I can scan a QR code and pow. Well I have not seen to many codes to scan. Neat I wonder if it will backup and wipe auto if needed if it knows changing rom. Has anybody tried?

The IntentIntegrator allows me to use addExtra to the intent. My plan was to read whatever "extra" I added to the intent in the onActivityResult call after the barcode has been read. The problem is that the Barcode scanner application doesn`t return the extras to me after it reads the barcode.
This is my call to invoke the intent:

Nov 12, 2010I have a question concerning threads, handlers, loopers, etc. in android: In my application i have to take pictures from the camera preview (not pictures from the camera but rather just a preview frame) every time when the camera gets autofocus. So i want to implement some kind of "scanner". The app continues requesting autofocus and preview frames until the app detects a valid barcode in the picture. To achieve a continuous scanning process the app schould repeatedly request autofocus of the camera. At the moment when the camera got autofocus the next autofocus request should be fired immediately. Do you have any tips for implementig this?

Ideally, this information should be sortable using various keys. The bizarre thing is that after trying two or three, I haven't yet found one that will sort by author's last name! Honestly, who would want to sort by author's first name? (Is whatever is wrong with the People app catching or something? )
