Android :: Unable To Select Children (textview) Of TableRow Programmatically / Fix It?

Nov 2, 2010

I'm trying to access the textviews (for starters, eventually replace with imageviews etc) which are stored in the tablerows in the code below.

The line beginning 'log.d' was the part I was working on, trying to get it to print out the contents of the 2nd text view in the first row, but I can only get as far as selecting the tablerow using "getChildAt(i)".

Trying "getChildAt(0).getChildAt(1)" doesn't select the textview as I would have expected it to; says that it's a View and as such, doesn't have this method - though unless I'm mistaken, aren't tablerows ViewGroups, which do have this method? code...

Android :: How To Make Children Of Selectable TableRow

Sep 23, 2010

I'm making a image gallery with infinite vertical and horizontal scrolling. I put images inside a ListView to make a column, and put the ListViews inside a TableRow. However, it seems that child views of TableRow is not selectable and as a result I can't select the images in my ListView (easily). Is there a way to pass the events down to child views of TableRow so they can be selectable?

Android :: GetHeight() Of TextView In TableRow

Nov 27, 2009

I have an Activity in which I have a TableLayout. I fill the table with TableRows in which I display TextViews. Imagine this as a classical table with text content. After the loop is finished I want to read all the heights in pixels of all the TextView in this table. I do this with getHeight(). The problem I have now is that ALL the values are 0 (zero) pixels. Even though I have text in the TextViews. The odd thing about this is, if I read the height of the exact same TextViews in an OnClickListener () then I do get the real height of the elements. Why is that so? I mean, nothing has changed in the height of those elements in the time between filling the table and firing the OnClickListener(). I really need to be able to get the height of the TextViews right after I filled the table. To get the heights upon a click is too late already for what I want to do.

Android :: Using Tablerow - TextView In Tablelayout?

Apr 21, 2010

I am using Tablerow+TextView to make a simple view for blog posts and their replies. In each TableRow I put a TextView in. Now I have two issues:

The text which is longer than the screen won't automatically wrap up to be multi-line. Is it by design of TableRow? I've already set tr_content.setSingleLine(false); [update]

This has been addressed, I think I should change Fill_parent to be Wrap_content in

CODE:............

The Table won't scroll like ListView. My rows are more than the screen size. I expect the table could be scrolled down for viewing just like ListView. Is that possible?

Here is my code:

I have a LinearLayout with two views in it, an ImageView and a TextView. The ImageView resource is actually pulled from an xml selector in res/drawable so that it shows one of two drawables, call them selected.png and unselected.png. When I call LinearLayout.setSelect(false) the unselected.png drawable appears and the text is drawn in white. When I call LinearLayout.setSelect(true) the selected.png drawable appears and the text is drawn in black. How can I change this behavior of the TextView so that it always draws in white?

This will show three fields, but when you uncomment the five commented line, then NOTHING will appear. Why is that so? Why does setting layout parameters cause my TextView's to not appear? I'm stuck! What am I missing?

Android :: Manually Type Email Address - Unable To Select Contacts

Oct 24, 2010

Anywho, I want to go into Gmail, compose a new email, and be able to select contacts (or even have the app provide a look-ahead list based on what I type). This is exactly how the Gmail app for my Blackberry 8830 worked so I don't understand why there seems to be less functionality no an Android phone. In any case, it seems that no matter what, all I can do is manually type in email addresses. Also, I know I can go into Contacts (People) and select a person's email. This brings up a menu option to email using Gmail or my Exchange email account. This in't good enough because all I can do is open a new email to one person this way. What if I want to email 10 people!?

HTC EVO 4G :: Web Broser Unable To Locate GPS / Way To Select Program To Use

Sep 24, 2010

So everyone hates the Sprint Navigation because it constantly runs and drains your battery... agreed... but I don't really feel like rooting my phone if I don't have to so here's the dilemma and question.

Dilemma: Sprint GPS seems to be the default GPS to for the web broswer to use. Because of this an app like Zombie Run's Multiplayer, cannot communicate with GPS satellite's it's set up for because the phone is connecting with Telenav (hypothesis, but Verizon phones locate gps and sprint does not)

"Aboutebug" in a web browser only gives the option to use gps or not.

Is there anyway to select which GPS program you want the web browser (or phone in general) to use?

Android :: SetContentView : Unable To Set TextView From Xml File / Fix It?

Sep 26, 2009

I see a strange problem when I try to set a TextView, instead of a layout file via setContentView.

Case 1: i.e. if I do the following, it works fine...

TextView tv = new TextView(this); tv.setText("Hello World"); setContentView(tv);

Everything is OK.

Case 2: But suppose I have a main.xml file with a TextView in it and I try the following:

=========== View tv = findViewById(R.id.textview); setContentView(tv); =========== I get a Force Close with the below error

Am I missing something here ?

Android :: How To Get All Children Views Of Layout?

Jul 9, 2010

Is there a way to get all the children views of a layout, from the Java code so that I can loop through them and set an attribute? Specifically, I'd like to set the "layout_width" based on the screen size. Since this "layout_width" would be the same for all the views, I'd prefer to loop through instead of calling each individual View separately by their id. The following is my main.xml:
