Using Android 2.0 SDK. Is it possible to direct the TTS engine's output to a connected BT headset? I've tried with KEY_PARAM_STREAM set to all of the available stream types but the speech is still output by the speaker on the phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI didn't find an API to detect if a Bluetooth A2DP is connected. Can somebody point me out how to check? It looks like if I route audio to Bluetooth A2DP without check, the sound will be routed anyway, and the speaker is turned off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere has been one thread talking about Bluetooth headsets and it did not receive many replies. There have been a zillion threads about the Moment's difficulty in connecting via Bluetooth ("Paired but not connected").
If your Bluetooth headset works great with the Moment (e.g. connects consistently, good sound quality, etc.) Please post the manufacturer and model in this thread. Likewise, if your headset stinks, that is probably good information also, so post that too.
Lately, I have had a lot of issues with my bluetooth headphones (won't start on the countless other issues). Out of no where it will stop working; so I go into my bluetooth settings and the headset says it is still connected.... (not the issue)
The issue is when I try disconnecting then re-connecting, the message "Headset is disconnected" appears and will not go away under any circumstance. It stays there when going back to the home page, putting the phone to sleep and back on, everywhere, even when reconnected!
The only way to get the message to go away is powering off the phone. I have repeated this several times with the same results 100% of the time.
I have 9xxBackBeat headset. I connect my headphones to phone, but still the sound comes from the phone speakers. Why?

View 27 Replies View RelatedWhen I had my Voyager, I could use my bluetooth earpiece to talk on the phone, and also get the audio from the Navigation to come through the earpiece. I was surprised tonight that when I was using my GPS on the Droid it didn't come through my earpiece which resulted in me turning my radio down significantly so I could hear the phone.
I also have a stereo bluetooth headphones that I already paired and see the icon on the screen, but when I play a video or some music, it doesn't come through the headphones. Its still coming out of the Droid's phone speakers. Its showing that it is connected in my notifications bar too.
Gonna get a headset soon. Can u still use your phone for say playing games whilst talking.

But how can it determine whether or not it's plugged in when it starts running? The closest thing I can find is AudioManager.isWiredHeadsetOn() which "checks whether audio routing to the wired headset is on or off" - but the headset can still be connected without audio being routed to it.

If I plug in my headphones it switches to headphone mode, but as soon as I disconnect them it switches back to headset mode. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a serious problem with my HTC Hero. Basically, all of a sudden I got this icon of a pair of headphones in the notification area. I checked what it meant on the manual and it means: Wired Headset Connected.There were no headset connected when it appeared and never before because I have never put any headset in the phone. I thought that by restarting the mobile I'll have it solved..but no..the icon remains there. The major problem is not the icon in itself but the phonecalls. When I call someone or someone calls me, there is no sound in the ear speaker because the sound output is basically going into a headset that does not exist. I tried putting the factory headset in and out to refresh the icon however this does not sort out the problem neither. There is no setting to switch this thing on or off and I have no idea how it came up. I tried all settings even during an incoming call or so but nothing..there's this flag that keeps indicating a wired headset. I don't feel like formatting the phone because it's not fair!! (and i dont have the damn time to play around..it costs good money so i pretend it works fine he only way I can have a phone conversation is either by putting the call on speakerphone (obviously losing privacy) or by carrying a headset around with me all the time.

no headset plugged in just act as normal. Hopefully I am just missing something obvious as I can see the option to enable auto answer but this seems to be regardless of weather or not there is a headset plugged in. If this is not possible is there a a way to shortcut the enable and disabling of auto answer rather than having to go through all the menus?
Google Now starts itself whenever I connect my headset to my note 3. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
I've tried disabling google now but google voice search comes up instead.
My Xperia X10 play the ringing sound in external speakers and headphones when I have the headset connected. The same happens when I use headphones and car navigation, the sound coming out of the external speaker and headset simultaneously. If I use Bluetooth or regular headphones, the experience is the same.
View 6 Replies View RelatedGoogle's free navigation used to be a selling point for the OS, but it currently has some issues. Prior to Android 2.3, there used to be separate volume levels for media and navigation. However, these got combined into media so you can no longer tweak your navigation volume independent of your music. The end result is that the only way to make navigation audible in the car is to have the stereo volume at a level that would cause the music volume to bother many people (I usually drive with two toddlers in my car).
But there's another thing that I noticed. Switching between Bluetooth output to line output (the car's AUX input) has an effect on volume, but not one that makes sense. Music played through Google Music (and other media players, including PowerAMP) is louder over Bluetooth. I have to have the volume at 2 bars in my Fusion on Bluetooth to match the music volume set at 4 bars on line out. But here's the weird thing, navigation volume is not effected. It sounds the same on both, meaning that it suddenly becomes audible on line out.
Android is doing something weird where it amplifies music over Bluetooth, but not other sounds. As it stands, Bluetooth is more convenient, but it makes turn-by-turn navigation more difficult.
I have just purchased the Jawbone Jambox. Very nice bit of kit and the sound is great.When I pair with my laptop, it works no problem outputting the sound from Spotify or Movies etc.
When I try and play music from my handset, it just comes out the handsets speakers even though it is paired. The same for games and video.I have an HTC Desire with Cyanogen 7 installed.
The Jambox has a built in mic and works fine when paired as a hands free setup. I hear the phone ringing from the speakers so that proves it is working.I have done a bit of reading and have found some posts talking about on the iPhone, you can set what the phone outputs the sound to. ie. The Jambox rather than the builtin speaker.
I have not been able to find anything like that for the ROM I am using or even mention of it for other Android handsets.

found an app that will allow me to send audio to a bluetooth receiver / speaker AND allow me to use headphones / wired speaker at the same time??
I'm not rooted. If this could be done via rooting, I might just consider doing it.
AND, while I'm asking, can the audio signal be sent to and received by two different bluetooth receivers at the same time? I currently only have one bluetooth audio receiver, so I can't try it.
I have a Motorola bluetooth headset and with my old Storm I could push the button on the headset and it would say "Say a command" from here I could say "Call John Doe mobile" and it would call him up. Haven't figured out how to make this work on the Droid in the same manner natively. Is it possible or is there an application. Purpose of bluetooth is to be hands free. Its not very hands free if I have to pull my phone out my pocket to dial the number first to be able to use the headset.

I found BluetoothDevice in android sources which can control bluetooth. However it is not contained in android.jar. So I used AudioManager.setBluetoothScoOn(true)

I am facing a problem with Bluetooth Headset and KeyCharacter Mapping. When I press play/pause button from Samsung sbh-, its not getting reflected in Phone. I traced and came to know that, normally scan code of 164, keycode of 85 is formed when i press Headset play/pause. And PhoneWindow manager will intercept this and send ACTION_MEDIA_BUTTON if keycode =85 (KeyEvent.KEYCODE_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE). But keycode that I'm getting is 0 even when i press headset play/pause in PhoneWindow Manager. Even in KeyInputQueue, the keycode that is obtained is 0. Does anybody when keycode gets generated?

When recording sound I use:

This works well when using the phone in a normal fashion. However, it does not detect the presence of a bluetooth headset and still uses the phone's own microphone even when the headset is plugged in.
I also tried using MediaRecorder.AudioSource.DEFAULT, hoping it would automatically choose the correct source, but then no sound was recorded at all.
How can I a) detect if a bluetooth headset is plugged in and/or b) use a bluetooth headset as audio source for the media recorder?
On my phone, a dev phone, the bluetooth headset service is always running even though bluetooth connectivity is disable in the Settings app. Is this normal?
The ear speaker is not emitting any sound for maybe two weeks now, even if the on-call sound level is at max (5), so I'm checking a few things before I try to send back the phone for repair or exchange.
