I am streaming an MP3 audio and instead making this MP3 audio to play, I want it to be converted to PCM format and pass this PCM audio to AudioTrack(as it takes PCM data as input.) instead of passing my MP3 stream to MediaPlayer. Can anyone please help me to convert the MP3 to PCM stream?

If so, which API should I use? I understand this may not be possible at an application level for security reasons.I'm trying to see if this is possible with native code linking to public or private API of Android.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAndroid provides a use-friendly API for playing and handling media (audio/video).However, I have the following requirements which i wish to realize with this framework: My requirement is to have knowledge of the ports that the android media framework opens and uses for sending/receiving media streams. I use this information for signaling on the Session Description Protocol (SDP) that i add as a payload to SIP.Is it possible for me to get this information in the form of a RTP session from the framework ? (ports and address combination).*Use Case for this requirement:*If I initiate a multimedia call towards a peer, I will need to open my audio and video ports and start streaming media once the signaling is complete and successful. For successful streaming, the remote end needs to have knowledge of the ports I have opened for media as the streams are bi-directional and I will also need to receive media from the remote end.(sendrecv in SDP) . This is for the outgoing call.

First of all, sorry for my bad english. I'm new into Android application development, just experimenting with the emulator and the SDK. I have searched with some keywords on the developer group, but i didn't find what i need. I'm searching for classes which with i can do simple audio DSP on locally stored audio files. e.g. i like to do crossfade/overlap on MP3 files, and an overall automatic gain control/ equalization on the realtime mix . As i see i can use the AudioTrack class to send raw PCM data to the audio hardware, so i could implement the DSP in java, but i don't see any way to use the internal decoders to grab decoded PCM frames from encoded audio files (like MP3, OGG, AAC). I thought about using Java decoder implementations like JLayer to do the decoding but that's a very CPU intensive approach which is not good for e.g. a media player application which runs in the background. Is there any classes for using the platforms builtin decoders, or should i "port" some available decoders with NDK to my application?

At any point in time I want to know how much data is buffered with the device. I want to use this so that if the data with the device go below a level, I want to go into a buffering mode where I will buffer 2-3 seconds of data before continuing playback again. Can someone please tell me how to do this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to understand how to get data about all the audio files in the device using MediaAudio but unfortunately the documentation is far from clear. Also, thereīs almost nothing about it on the forum right now and I couldnīt find good resources over the internet.
Iīve seen pretty quick and objective examples on how to access the main information from the containers but I couldnīt find in any place how I could get the names of the tracks (MediaStore.Audio.AudioColumns doesnīt have an specific constant for it) and the most important, how I could retrieve the path for the media (audio file in this case) Iīve found using the info on MusicStore.Audio.
am I missing something here? It seems it should be so easy but I canīt find the info! Also if I change any data on the container, will this data be also changed in the real file as well?

I'm very much interested in being able to send my music/audio from my phone to a DLNA renderer on my home network. There are plenty of individual apps out there to do this, such as BubbleUPnP, Twonky, etc, or even indeed the music app built in to my HTC One X. However what I'm wondering is if there's a way to have all music/audio re-directed over WiFi to a DLNA renderer?
What I'm looking for would be something similar to when you plug in headphones or connect a Bluetooth audio device: any application that plays media has the audio directed to the headphones or bluetooth connection, instead of the internal phone speaker - that's exactly what I want, but with the audio being directed over WiFi to a DLNA renderer. I'd configure the app/service/whatever to send all audio over DLNA, and then it doesn't matter whether I'm using Dogcatcher, Spotify, the built-in Music app or Google Music - all audio automatically gets directed to the DLNA renderer.
Having to use yet another app on top of the various media applications I already use is a real pain; plus I highly doubt any of the existing applications will support Spotify streams (Twonky and BubbleUPnP don't), and I had little success when experimenting with Twonky yesterday. As mentioned my built-in music app already does this so I'm already part of the way there, but I'd like it to be system-wide rather than app specific.
The DLNA renderer I'll be using will either be a standard PC running XBMC, or a headless Raspberry Pi embedded Linux computer; either way they'll both be fully UPnP/DLNA compliant.
Today we can make calls connecting through Bluetooth on car, and have the sound on car's loudspeakers.
Is it possible to send music, or a podcast, the same way?
I have an application where there are two screens(activities.) When I make changes in the second screen those values should get reflected in the first screen. For that I have to pass the values of second screen to the first one.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a TabActivity, and the tabs point to sub activities. Is there a way I can send a 'message' to those child activities? I just want to pass a string across, not sure if this is possible.
I have some data being fetched by the parent TabActivity, and the child tabs can't do anything useful until the parent is done fetching. When fetching is complete, I'd like to pass that data to the child activities so they can do something useful with it.
Normally I'd set the data to be passed in the Intent when first creating the activity, but in this case I can't do that.
I use Android sdk 1.5 on ubuntu 8.0.4. In my application I want to use a data sms on a special port to inform my application about new available information. Then a background thread should be started to process this information. Currently i have an application sending data sms to port 12345 to an application to another emulator. Both emulators can send and receive sms. However there is no difference between a data sms and a text sms in the incoming intent.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to control which application send audio to Bluetooth and which sent to system speaker?
I have a Bluetooth car kit that is paired with my Samsung Galaxy SII phone (ICS 4.0.3) and any audio that is played on the phone (messages, phone calls, media, etc) it's sent to the car kit.
This is very annoying, because if I listen to the car radio and the phone receive a message, the sound is sent to the car kit, resulting in a interruption of around 10 seconds, only for transmitting the ring of the message.
I want to have only the phone calls and the media player audio passed to the car kit through the Bluetooth and to block any other audio notifications (and to let them play through the phone speaker).
Is there is any way to control what is sent to Bluetooth, or what application can send audio to the Bluetooth?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a widget that will change the data it is displaying when a user taps on it. This would normally be easy to deal with, but my app widget provider is handling multiple widget instances that have different sets of data. With that being said, when a user taps on the widget, a PendingIntent is launched that calls the changeData() method. Inside the intent that is launched is where I store the widget ID so changeData() knows which data set to use. At first I was storing widget IDs in the intent's extras, but I found out that there is a bug in how Android widgets handled widget intent extras so now I am trying to store the widget by passing a URL using the setData() method(formatted like content:widgetId I.E. content:24, etc.).
This is how I am setting the data for the PendingIntent:
Intent changeData = new Intent("com.tonycosentini.mintdroid.CHANGE_DATA");
changeData.setData(Uri.parse("content:" + currentWidgetId));
PendingIntent changeDataPendingIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 0, changeData, 0);
However once I try to test this, the onRecieve() method that is usually called when a widget is tapped is no longer called. Is there something I need to setup in my Android Manifest file for this work properly or is there something I'm doing completely wrong?
