Android :: Seeing Double ListView To Change Properties
Apr 25, 2009
I am wondering if anyone else is encountering this issue (or if its just me). I converted an app I have been working on from using a regular view to using SurfaceView. The app accesses listviews to change properties of the elements I am drawing on a canvas. The listviews called from the SurfaceView version draw over themselves mis-registered when I scroll long lists quickly. If anyone out there has had a similar problem and/or has an idea what might be going on and/or has a suggestion as to how to fix this.

I have an activity with a ListView which is populated through a custom ArrayAdapter. There is an array of objects which have a Boolean property called 'isRead'. Based on the value of this property, I want to set the typeface of one of the TextViews in the row to either 'normal' or 'bold'. I also set the color of the text to either 'gray' or 'black When the Activity initially starts up, everything works as expected. If isRead is true, the text is gray with a normal font. Once I scroll down the list and then scroll up again, the text of an object where isRead is true is colored gray, but the font is bold. Code...

I'm using BaseExpandableListAdapter, and there is a drop-down button (looks like an arrow) on the left side for each parent item to indicate that you can expand that item to view child items. The question is: How can I change the properties of that drop-down button such as its position? I basically want to move it a bit lower in each parent item.

I'm looking for a way to dynamically change an elements properties.
For example I want the user of my app to be able to enter a value within my program that will change android:layout_marginTop="blabla" to whatever I want. It doesn't specifically have to be that property, I want to be able to change any property of any element. Is there a way to do this?

I'm new to android programming and I would like some help. I have the following code:
Object[] list_cities = parsedData.getCityname().toArray();
Object[] list_countries = parsedData.getCountryname().toArray();
// Display the available locations
list_search.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<Object>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_2, android.R.id.text1, list_cities));
list_search.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<Object>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_2, android.R.id.text2, list_countries));
I would like to display double rows for each entry in the list (city and country) but I have no luck. With the above code I only see the countries but not the cities. Is there any way to add both the adapters to the list_search so I can see all the data?

I want when a user clicks a row, that row grows to show more items with an scale animation, but I can't find how can I do that.
First: I don't know how can I change a height row at runtime. I've tried making the items visible, but this didn't work even if I inflate with another XML layout.
Second: If I achieve the first one, I think I could make the scale animation.

I am trying to create a roller so that the user can select the amount of money they'd like to bet. So I created a list view and then put a transparent png over top of it to make it look like a little more fancy. Although it seems when I put the png over top of the listview I can longer see the list. I know this may seem like a far fetched idea, but I'm not sure if there is a better way to go about this.
Anyone know a way that I can create a rolling selector?

Im using a custom listView with a Title and a Subtitle where you can read a brief explanation of the item.
For each item on the list, im displaying an alertDialog to select an option (different for each case). When the option is selected, i want to change the Subtitle for the option selected by the user.
This is what i tried:
CODE:.....................
For the first item on the list it works fine, when i select an option, the subtitle get replaced by that option, but when i make a selection in the alertDialogs of the other 2 items, the option selected replaces the subtitle of the first item!

I have 2 ways of displaying ListView data. I have a class for each type of row. I do not create the rows in an xml layout. (Each row is derived from View and does custom drawing). When I switch from 1 type of row to another how do I get the ListView to layout properly with the correct row heights, and refresh? Is View.forceLayout() on the right track?

I've created a rather complex layout for listview rows where only the first line is visible (the rest use android:visibility="hidden"). When an item is selected, I want all the invisible objects to appear (selected.setVisibility(1)) - checking first if I have to hide again the previous selection.
Here's the (simplified) code..
The problem is that this only retrieves the invisible items in the first Listview row. What's the way to access ListView rows and change 'em?

I have a listview in which there should be different divider height between different rows. So, how can we set the divider height dynamically?
Suppose, I have 10 rows and there should be a divider height of 5 between first 2 rows and then there should be a divider height of 1 between next 5 rows and so on.

Is there any way i can make my listactivity (rather listview) highlight the List Item when it is clicked (pressed) upon? (...and remain highlighted) The default behavior, simply highlights the item for a moment, and it gradually fades to black... Currently, the highlighting only happens when we use the DPad... It'd be ideal if atleast one list item is "highlighted" at all times. Worst case scenario, i may have to keep track of the "last clicked item" (by default the first) and change its background or something...but i was hoping there was an easier way...

I have a couple of list views, one uses TextViews laid out with xml, the other uses a custom class derived from View. The default halloween color scheme is pretty ugly. How can I change the background and selection colors for the list elements. Ideally, I'd like to be able to do this in code not xml, to handle the custom view.

I have a ListView in my android activity. And I populate the ListView by sub-class the BaseAdaptor (which returns a View in getView() method).
What if in my click listener of a button in a list item view, I change the text of the TextView in the List item view or change the dimension of the list item view by adding/removing children of the list item view
What is an efficient to refresh my listView? I don't want the listView to re-trigger a query since there is no data change.

How do I change the original orange highlight color to something else? That is, the color I get when I click in a ListView.
I've tried to set the android:textColorHighlight of the ListView and/or the TextView for the rows, nothing work.
I've manage to remove it by setting android:listSelector="#00000000" of my ListView but I just want to change the color, but it seems impossible.
