Is there an app on the market that would allow me to receive and send texts through Google Voice? The layout of Google Voice's app gets annoying when I want to just compose a message to someone but I first have to back out to the inbox.

I live in Sweden and the application is on my phone, but does not work. That is odd because it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to do, especially if Google Maps already gives turn-by-turn directions. I'm guessing it might have to do with the language or pronunciation of the streets. I don't mind using it in English, though.

The last action I did before it worked was to uninstall the 'microsoft outlook app'.
I am using Nexus 4 Bought from US thro my friend.Current Android version id 4.4.2..My Service Provider is Airtel. All my google applications like Gmail, Maps, Play,Google Plus are working fine in WIFI.But when i try to refresh or update these application thro Airtel 3g,i am getting No Connection Error.
All my 3rd party apps like Facebook,Whatsapp are working fine in 3G.
Is Google Latitude available in the UK or not, because it doesn't seem to be working for me? I have received the RC9 update for G1 and have Google Maps 3.0. Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

View 2 Replies View RelatedI really wanted GDE to work but today it made my phone all but useless. It locked up my phone for 5 minutes, so i pulled the battery to reset and for the next 45 minutes the phone app would not work at all, it would open but would not dial any #, and the rest of GDE was so slow i couldnt do anything. I couldnt turn wifi on or off, gps on or off, close open programs or open new ones. I finally had to uninstall it cause it was just too much for the phone. Its a shame cause i liked it, i installed home ++ today and seems to be doing ok.

The display remains stationary when I slowly rotate from North around 360deg.
When I move the phone vertically from the horizon upwards, the constellations change,as expected.
GPS is enabled and gives my correct location when Sky Map starts.

why a picture taking application works on some phones and not on others? The app was tested with the 1.1 emulator and the 1.0 developer phone. Some customers reported that they could not find the resulting pictures using the Picture application after they powered off the phone and powered it back on to cause a new media scan. Others find them just fine (in the dcim/camera directory). Are there any known conflicts for applications taking pictures? The only other thing I can think of is that the developer phone, currently at 1.0, will function differently at 1.1, however, the app works on the 1.1 version of the emulator.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently found out, that my Application developed for Android 1.6 does not work on Android 2.2. I'm quite puzzled about this, because its a very simple Application which almost does nothing. The Expeption I get is like that:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to instantiate application [packagename].AndApp:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: [packagename].AndApp in loader
dalvik.system.PathClassLoader[/data/app-private/[packagename]-1.apk]
The weirdest part is, that the Class it is searching for here does not exist and never has. The app itself does nothing than show some text in a textview. In Android 1.6 I dont get this problem and I cant see a reason, it event works in 2.1. The Manifest looks like that:

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently decided to try out making my app tentatively "GoogleTV ready" by ensuring a user can do everything without ever entering Touch mode. For most stuff it is pretty straight forward, but I'm scratching my head at MapView/ItemizedOverlay: The docs appear to indicate that onTap(index) should do the trick, but it seems not to work the way I expect it to. "onTap ... This could be from a touchscreen tap on an onscreen Item, or from a trackball click on a centered, selected Item..."
Working around it using onTrackballEvent() and perhaps an onFocusChangeListener seems possible, but the documentation appears to indicate that this should not be needed for simple cases, right? I get the circle in the center and can move around with the D-pad/trackball, but when trying to select, hitTest() is not called and onTap(index) appears to be called with stale info. Anyone got a working code snippet? (Mark's NooYawk sadly doesn't work and googling came up with blanks apart from questions without answers).
I noticed I had about 25 duplicate entries for every Google contact and anniversary, synching from my Google Calendar. I unsubscribed from "Contacts & Birthdays and Anniversaries" on my desktop and then did a sync, and as expected it deleted all the birthdays and anniversaries on my HTC Incredible. I then subscribed again to the Google Contacts "Birthdays & Anniversaries" calendar....made sure they were being displayed in the Google Calendar, and then synced the phone again. Nothing. Synced it several times and everything works...even a new test event, but the Birthdays & Anniversaries are not showing up. Any ideas?

I've ready the "Backward Compatibility" tutorial, I'm working for performance - and it suggestions using .invoke is considerably slower than using a wrapper class. But it seems the wrapper class only works for if a class is not available on older devices. I'm compiling with 2.2, but minSDK is 1.5. I'm working with multitouch, I assumed that if I checked against Build.Version.SDK, and didn't call getPointerCount() - then it wouldn't raise an error. View 4 Replies View RelatedSeems to be a big problem with Google Voice starting sometime last night. Outgoing calls from an Android phone are not working. The phone number dialed just rings and rings and is rarely ringing the other end. When it does ring the other end, it's showing the relay number, not the Google Voice number and when the person picks up, no one's there.Relay number is not letting me make calls with the google voice app.Google Mobile Help Current work around is to either call your Google Voice number directly and use it that way. Or use the web interface to call back. Still haven't found any confirmations from Google about this or if a fix is coming.

Notifications are enabled in Google Now settings, sound is turned on. I confirmed that the notification was added, the card shows in the list and has the correct time, but except for one attempt it never makes a sound or adds anything to my notifications. The same goes for alarms added via Google Now.
I have this same problem on Nexus 7 (latest Android) and HTC One (4.1), both with latest version of Google Now.
This is a very important function to me for a smart phone, I don't want to deal with a fiddly UI for this sort of thing when Google's voice recognition works so well. For something so basic to not work is very frustrating, considering how well I know this works on iPhone with Siri.
When i am trying to run the example of Maps as in http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html, the menu button doesn't seem to work. I tried the default Maps app in the emulator and there it was working. Also i intend to add an item when a user presses that button, how can do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I dropped my HTC Hero on the ground from less than a foot above and when it dropped it turned off so I went to turn it back on and after multiple tries finally got it to the hold screen. When I went to pull down the hold screen to go to the home screen it went to the screen when you're turning it on that says "hTc". I immediately hit end and it goes back to the hold screen then when I pull it down it again it says that some of the applications, which I assume by their name is part of the phone processing, isn't working so I have to force it close. The weird thing is I still get my emails and texts and when a phone call comes in it says the Android application isn't working. Anybody know what is going on here?

I have gotten count less errors both on the gmail and email app. Typical errors include "invalid credentials", "rejected", or something of that nature. I have also tried setting my username to "anon@usc.edu" , "anon@gmail.com", or simply "anon". These are the settings I use:

I won't bother including outgoing email settings because I have yet to even make it past the incoming settings page.
I asked the Qik question the other day, but did not get a large response. Is anyone using the Qik application that came with the phone and does it work? Did anyone download the "EVO Qik app" from Android Market? Second, I have input numbers on my cell two ways. One is by saving after a person has called and the next is by adding through "people". My question is when I have incoming calls it doesn't always come with the callers name.
