2- E/MediaPlayer( 2173): stop called in state 2
the above errors i get frequently and i get the below one's randomly, the game freezes and requires a force close when i encounter the below errors.........

View 3 Replies View RelatedInvoked device native player to play audio file, it opens android native player on top of the application but when selecting to back out or return to the application, device automatically stops playing the current media.
Sample code:
Intent intent = new Intent();
intent.setAction(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
intent.setDataAndType(Uri.fromFile(file),"audio/*");
startActivity(intent);
How can I implement so that Device should continue to play audio in the background when selecting to back out or return to the application
The "View" instance currently provides a way to retrieve the saved state using the methods below, but there doesn't seem a way to retrieve the view's saved state in the constructor, or onFinishInflate. The custom view is constructed via XML, so I cannot pass the saved bundle from the Activity to the View's constructor.
Relevant methods: - protected Parcelable onSaveInstanceState() and - protected void onRestoreInstanceState(Parcelable state)
I need this because I make an asynchronous network request in a custom view constructor, and if there is a configuration (orientation) change, the custom view is getting reconstructed, and the request is getting performed again. I want to intercept the second request in the constructor. I can do this in the onRestoreInstanceState, but I need to handle this in the constructor.
It would be nice if there was a method such as getSavedState so that the decision can be made in a constructor or onFinishInflate instead of waiting for the onRestoreInstanceState trigger.
How can I detect if the G1 keyboard is hidden or open at application startup? My app always runs in landscape mode, but I can only find how to detect keyboard configuration *changes* (through onConfigurationChanged()). So how can I retrieve the current keyboard configuration (open or closed) at application startup?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYes, I can get sensor update events with SensorEventListener. But this approach has 2 drwwbacks:
1) For some sensors I have to wait for the state to update. For example, temperature may update after a minute!
2) In some cases I can get incorrect readings. For example, the phone lies on a flat surface and does not move. I receive first orientation update event after listener registration. When only a part of the orientation vector changes, other parts may be 0. And it is no way to determine, is it a true 0 degree azimuth or just an incomplete vector. If I move the phone a little, the correct non-zero azimuth appears.
To solve this problems it's possible to create a separate thread that constantly monitors sensors. After some time it will certainly contain true values. But I think that it is an overhead for such simple task.
Is it any other way to get current sensor data?

I am trying to make a task switcher and i succed in it. My only problem is that when I launch activities, they are relaunched as they were new activities ( for instance, I am writing an email, i press home and go into my activity,launch email, and then the app launch the email bout goes back at the inbox and the email is lost) So that's not true multitasking.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to save some values in the onSaveInstanceState(Bundle) method of my activty by following the example here: How do I save an Android application's state?
But it doesnt seem to load it from the Oncreate(). the bundle object is always null but whenever i call another activity, it does indeed go into the onSaveInstanceState method to save my values.
Now i read that question i just posted and someone noted how they could not get it to work in an emulator? unfortunately that is all im working on. On an emulator and cant test the app on the device as i have no device available to me right now And the web services i am interacting with are in a local VM on my work machine that cannot be accesses remotely at the moment.
My question is, is it true that saved bundles dont work on emulators? I also noticed how when i do dismiss or bring up a new activity , the activity calles onPause and then onStop. when i bring back the same activty, it goes straight to onCreate?
now according to the docs here http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/fundamentals.html#actlife That is correct in terms of what the lifecycle diagram shows but if you read below that diagram on the onStop() section it says the next step it goes into is either onRestart() or onDestroy()? no mention of onCreate? Type on the docs?
Anyways here is my onSaveInstanceState() and onCreate() both in the same activity: code...

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy applications carries on processing when the user presses the home key, and generates status bar notifications if something happens the user requested to be notified about.
If a user holds the home key and then selects the application, it is restored in its correct state with the activity on top that showed when the user left.
However, since the intent that is associated with the status bar notification is FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and I put in the class name of the activity that launched the application (I assume this is what I must do?), the launcher activity is started when the notification is "clicked". I can then switch the application back to the current activity by starting that "active" activity again, but then I seem to have two instances of the activity in memory, since I have to press back twice to leave it. And I suspect my activity stack is then messed up as well.
I have set the launcher activity to be singleTask, but that only helped a bit. From my reading I thought this would just give the task focus if the launcher activity is not on top, but instead it gives the launcher activity the focus.
Is there a way for a notification click to work more like the task switcher provided by long pressing the home button?
I am trying to determine if my current connection state is WIFI or Cell network (3g/2g... etc)

When I do factory reset (which means the same as 'wipe', right?) it does resetting current installed ROM to its original state, right?
So, let's say I am doing factory reset the first time (so currently my phone has store ROM installed) so factory reset will revert all the changes in the installed ROM (such as settings, installed apps, all the data) to its original state - which the phone had since it got ROM installed.
But If I got root (which means I replaced secured kernel with unsecured one) and I installed another customized ROM and for some reason I want to do factory reset again - what's gonna happen?
Will factory reset revert original store ROM back or it will revert manually installed ROM (customized ROM) to its after installation?
And as far as I understood factory reset does nothing with kernel? It only affects ROM? So in the second case , when I use non-store ROM and I am doing factory reset - nothing will happen with my unsecured kernel?
I found that there is difference in class name of the YouTube player between devices: Some call t 'com.google.android.youtube.PlayerActivity' and some 'com.google.android.youtube.YouTubePlayer' My question is: Is there a way to retrieve the class name?
View 5 Replies View RelatedEven registering the broadcast receiver at the highest priority still fails to receive the Bluetooth media button events on the HTC Hero phone. The Bluetooth media button registration code works fine on the other Android phones that I have tested. Apparently this isn't the first time HTC has done something like this, as I also found a report of a similar problem on one of the HTC Microsoft Mobile Devices reported here
It seems extremely short sighted of HTC to code their media player so that it grabs the Bluetooth AVRCP media button events in such a way that other applications are unable to work with the Bluetooth head phone buttons and Bluetooth in car stereo systems.................
I use Windows Media Player to manage all my mp3s and playlists. I want my Samsung Galaxy S to be synchronized with my PC. I can connect my Galaxy S using "Media Player" mode and use the built-in sync with WMP, but there are issues:
1) Some mp3s get "corrupted" - how do I force WMP to "re-sync" them without losing my playlist association (if I manually add it as a file to sync, it is no longer associated with the playlist)
2) If I delete an mp3 from the device, WMP doesn't realize and won't re-sync the file again... is there a way to re-sync?
3) Sometimes WMP will re-sync playlists and each song shows up 3-4+ times when I load up a playlist on my device. I then have to wipe the Music and Playlist folder and re-sync from scratch any way around this?
4) Where are android playlists stored? The Playlists folder on the sd card can be wiped, but the playlists still show up in the music player?
5) If I make a change to a playlist on my PC, WMP will freeze and start skipping random files the playlists get corrupt and I see problem #3 occur. Essentially, if I change a playlist, I have to wipe the Music and Playlist folder and re-sync from scratch.
I wonder if it's possible to get music player state, like which is the current music playing, title, author and so on ? Better, is it possible for an activity (or a service) to be notified on music state changements (start playing, pause, etc.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a application that, while it's running, should be able collect and save information about the music played by the Phones MediaPlayer.
There are not any public API for this at the moment, do you have any plans for this in the future?
It would be nice if my application just could use the default Music player, instead of implement a new player.
So far the only solution I can find is this this link here: http://www.alexc.me/android-music-app-service-currently-playing-song/... ,but this is not a nice way to do it. It will only work with phones that use exactly same version of the interface file IMediaPlaybackService.aidl
Does anyone know where to find a media player that would allow you to play streaming videos on Android Browser?
I want to know if you can play streaming videos on your web browser on your android os phone.
I want to be able to use/view the video's I record with my phone on my computer. (open from an email or use in window's movie maker)I have a new computer with Windows seven at work and a Vista laptop at home. I can send the video to myself and try to open in from my email or tether to the computer and transfer the file manually. Either way I can't open with windows media player. Video's taken with default "Camcorder" app on a myTough 3G running Android 1.6.I know it has something to do with the codec's the phone uses but wonder why they wouldn't use codec's that are compatible with the most commonly used pc's?Is there any way around this? Some kind of converter for the computer or for the phone?Is there another camcorder app that can record video with a different codec or is it phone hardware specific?So far have been able to use these forum's to sort out most of my Android problems but I'm stumped on this one. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to do. Should be more user friendly.

The problem I'm having is that the media player on the HTC desire doesn't work nearly as well as iTunes. I have several issues that would needed to be resolved and wanted to know if anyone had a solution to any of them
1) Audio books, I have many of these on my iTunes and on an iPod they are displayed in a separate folder and are removed from shuffles, not so on the HTC, solution?
2) Podcasts, Again i subscribe to many podcasts on my iTunes and wanted to know if there was any way of adding them to my HTC automatically or having them download automatically (Despite this being very annoying and clogging up my hard drive with duplicated podcasts)
3)Playlists I am currently using iTunes agent to sync from my iTunes but it means that I cannot sync playlists that i can then play on my phone. (I can sync playlists just not then play them on their own once they are on my phone)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a ton of music on my SD card in my phone, approx. 6.5GB worth on an 8GB card. The problem is, the music players in Android (I've used the default, RockOn and MixZing, though I want to stay with MixZing) only recognize about 80% of the music, in their libraries. The thing is, the music is there! If I browse to the folder and launch the file it will play, but there's no artist/title data, even though all the files are properly tagged (mp3s), plus, it opens in a weird verion of the default music player that will stop playing if it loses focus.
This has been a issue ever since I got this phone. It's a brand new SD card (my previous one, in addition to this problem, had major corruption issues; I originally thought it was the card but I guess that's not the case). Also, I've gone through two different ROMs (one when I first got the phone, and a second that I upgraded to about a month ago), so I don't think that's the issue. It seems to affect random folders (albums) at different times, whenever the library is refreshed, but I can't refresh the library manually (that I've found) to see if it's just not scanning those files, or if it's a more underlying issue. I'm stumped
