I have a webview and a table containing 4 buttons. I have set the height of the webview to 400px, so that the buttons are displayed at the bottom of the screen, in portrait mode. My problem is, when changed to landscape mode the buttons are not visible. So I need to change the height of the webview on runtime, when orientation is changed. Do anybody know how to achieve this? I am able to capture the orientation change, using 'onConfigurationChanged' function.

I am aware of this solution Android: Strange out of memory issue but it is too coarse - inSampleSize is an integer and does not allow finer control over the resulting dimensions. That is, I need to scale images to specific h/w dimensions (and keeping aspect ratio). I dont mind having a DIY bicubic/lancoz algorithm in my code but I cant find any examples that would work on Android as they all rely on Java2D (JavaSE). EDIT: Ive attached a quick source. The original is 720x402 HD screen capture. Please ignore the top 2 thumbnails. The top large image is resized automatically by android (as part of layout) to about 130x72. It is nice and crisp. For instance, an 89*80 png displays fine, with the text, on my droid 2....but how should I go about resizing the image to be smaller on a smaller screened droid? Do I manually alter the image and place it in the ldpi folder or will it do that automatically?
My application generates an HTML file which needs to be displayed to the user . For this purpose I'm using the loadData() API provided by Webview. This HTML file is updated every 2 secs & the same is loaded again using loadData() to display the updated values. On reloading the file the Webview starts displaying again from the top of the file causing the user to always scroll down to the location where he previously was. This causes a very bad user experience. To overcome this issue an alternative that I could think of was to split the file to multiple files that can exactly fit in the the screen. For this I need to find the height of the HTML content that can loaded in a web view. From the WebView documentation I found that an API getContentHeight() is provided for this purpose. Although this method returns me 0 on the first attempt. On subsequent attempt it gives me the height of the page that was previously loaded.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone else has noticed this happening. Whenever you zoom in to a picture, the image is never cleaned up. Its like doing a digital zoom when you are already maxed out. The image simply shows up blury as apposed to when you view the image on a computer. There you can zoom in and get details just fine. I've noticed this also when trying to set a different wallpaper that is not from the Samsung collection. The images come out with worse quality then they should. I should also note that as I was cropping the images, the Photos app would force close at times as if it couldn't handle an image that big. I think this is a bug in the photo viewer, where instead of actually zooming in, its just doing crop and re-size of the image when its resolution is that of the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to put a custom boot animation on my moto droid 1. I have root I have done it before and I am using froyo. My big problem now is that I tried putting a different one I downloaded on and it worked. So I need someone to tell me whats wrong with the one I made, because I am out of ideas. I have compared size, resolution, ppi, bit depth but for some reason my images are way bigger files. The sequence was created by using virtualdub to clip a section of an animated short, then exporting an image sequence as png.
But I've fed the images through gimp and an image resizer. The frames are only some of them because I went through deleting every other frame a few times to cut down on the total size. The file is too big to attach here so i put it on my web space at:

I am using the patch that lets me put the files in datalocal and be named bootanimation.zip. it works I've tried with other animations like I said.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a class that extends View. I override the onDraw method and allow the user to draw on the screen. I am at the point where I want to save this view as an image. I Can use buildDrawingCache and getDrawingCache to create a bitmap that I can write to the SD card. However, the image is not good quality at a large size, it has jagged edges. Since I have a View and I use Paths I can transform all by drawing to a bigger size. I just don't know how to make the Canvas bigger so when I call getDrawingCache it doesn't crop all the paths I am just transformed. What is happening is I transform all my paths but when I write the Bitmap to file I am only getting the "viewport" of the actual screen size. I want something much bigger.

layout_height="fill_parent" seems to not do anything if you put them in a scrollview

My app uses a WebView widget to load ads from Google AdManager. AdManager gives you an HTML snippet, which is 90% javascript to call their server for the image to load.
I put their html snippet into a string and use String.format to add in several variables that AdManager requires.
I enable javascript on the WebView (webView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true);)
I load the string into the WebView (webView.loadData(myString, "text/html", "UTF-8");
result: the ad never loads (although the WebViewClient shows serveral .js resources loading).
If I take that exact string and create a file and then use webView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/test.html"), the image loads properly.
Why would loadUrl work but loadData does not?
I've verified that javascript is running. I injected a little script to write out a text string and it works.

The Go button is the same height as the EditText field.I know I could wrap both these views in a parent layout view, and set both of their heights to fill_parent, and that would make them match.However, I would like to do this without having to give the layout a static size.I would rather have the EditText take whatever height it needs based on the font size and then have the button next to it match whatever height that might be.Is this possible with an xml layout?
I want to use a WebView to enable dynamic loading of ads in my app. I'm currently running on a HDPI device, and images width a width of 480px are clipped/scrolled. If I use images with a size of 320px, they are zoomed in and rendered at too low a resolution.The content of the loaded WebView url is a simple web page with just an image tag wrapped in a link, as well a simple head.
