I was developing an app which need to open serversocket.
But, when i open one on poet 80, this throw a BindException :/ iven with the INTERNET permission. Open on other port work (ex: 8080).
Does this mean android not allow me to use this socket?
How can I open a specific port in android? I have a server socket but the connection is rejected because the port is closed.

Problem is that I get org.apache.http.client.ClientProtocolException
It's something with the host:port/url, beacause it works with urls without ports. I also get this same error with another Httphelper class than fluent-builder. Firewall is off.

Using application connectbot (for SSH connnection), is it possible to change default ssh port 22 when connecting to the server ?
The SSH server I need to connect simply use another port.

After all the work, studies and sleepless nights that I've been through, I've decided to share all that with the community opening the source of Phonebook Sharing. We have been chosen by the Android powered users as well as by Google as one of the ADC's Top 20 Social Networking applications. This application explores and makes use of many many features available by the platform (Android 1.5 / 1.6) as well as custom components/features that the platform does not provide yet, such as ListView pagination. Not just the Android client but also the J2EE server, I've made available quite a few interessting things such as Video Streaming and EJB3 stuff. I've also built a fake server that responds to all the request events made by the android client therefore you will be able to run client/ server and see how the communication goes. I'm still wrapping up the project building some documentation on our Wiki section.

(1) I anticipate all going well that I will need to migrate the server between hosts from time to time to handle load. I'd like to be able to do this without service disruption.
(2) I also anticipate that all going well I will want to improve scalability by seperating website hosting and wcf/web service hosting requiring an addressing change on the client. Until the app proves to get traction the server deployment will be shared on the same domain.
Rereleasing the client for this purpose at a glance seems complicated as you can't force updates on consumers and it's non trivial to distinguish between no data connection/server down and a server that's moved.I was thinking this would be a solved problem, so thought to bounce it off the community for better ideas.
