View 3 RepliesI have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
I'm looking for a widget that switches mobile network on and off. but i cant use the htc widget because m using launcherpro.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just discovered there is a widget for turning mobile network on and off which is fantastic as I've been looking for one in the market, cos I'm sick of doing it the long winded way. The only thing is, it doesn't work..... If you long press the home screen its under htc widgets, then settings. Has anyone else got one and does it work for them?
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust last night my mobile networking widet stopped working. If I remove it from my home screen it will start working again but only for a little while. I recently installed task panel and turned on the auto kill feature...I'm wondering if there is something I'm killing that is doing it but i dont see anything obvious.

Have tried the one from Curvefish but its a shortcut and doesn't bring to the correct page.
1. I just got an exchange evo this morning and the hardware version is three. Does any one know if this is the latest?
2. I had a widget to toggle me mobile network on the phone I just exchanged. I can't find out how get it back. I tried going to widgets-settings-etc., but it wasn't there. I don't remember if I got it from the market or what.
As we all know, we need to toggle the Mobile Network connection off from time to time to save battery power. I am trying to get into Launcher Pro, but the ONLY thing that is keeping me from using it full time is that I can find a mobile network widget that works like the HTC one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
View 28 Replies View RelatedI seem to be seeing an issue with the data network access on the EVO. When it happens none of my applications get internet aceess and my mobile network status says "turning on". The only way I've found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any one else seeing this? If so is there a better fix than pulling the battery?

I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...
I love my aria, i got it 9/29/10, for free from best buy because my contract expired... but ive already used 20MB and i only bought a 200MB plan... i might go to 2 gigs, but for an alternate, since my billing cycle ends the 28th of every month... if i disable application syncing, and mobile network from the hold menu... can i connect to my home wifi network, and go on the internet from there without that using any of my data plan?

Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
I am developing an Android application and I would like to setup a tcp/ip type of connection between two Android phones using the 3G/Edge network. My test version will establish a connection if I have both phones on a lan using wifi but when I use T-Mobile's network a connection is not established. Could this issue be a port or ip address?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am writing a UDP client/server application. The android phone (client) can send and receive UDP packets if connected to wi-fi. When using mobile network (2G), however, it can send packets to the server, but cannot receive packets. The server does receive and send back packets in all cases. The client side code is as follows: byte[] buf = new byte[4096];DatagramPacket packet = new DatagramPacket(buf, buf.length);while (true) {packet.setData(buf); socket.receive(packet);

If not I ask the user if he would establish an Internet Connection, and what type (wifi oder mobile). The wifi connection i can establish with the following code WifiManager wifiManager = (WifiManager) getSystemService(Context.WIFI_SERVICE);
wifiManager.setWifiEnabled(true); But how do i establish a mobile connection? Couldn't find a single code snippet at Google.
Trying out a vibrant. The T-Mo rep told me it used the hspa plus network. Now i read the the first hspa plus phone for T-Mo will the HTC vision/vibrant. Was i lied to? It is a bit of a moot point, if the vision/vanguard has a bigger screen and real keyboard i will be re boxing the vibrant and limping the G1 into September.

Is there any way for an application to force a network request to go over the mobile network if it's available in preference to WiFi? I'm looking at ConnectivityManager#setNetworkPreference, but there's no documentation, and looking at the source seems to suggest it's setting a global preference somewhere which isn't what's required here - I just need to force certain requests that need to go over the mobile network to ignore WiFi.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis happens only when my G1 phone is on T-Mobile network: I found that when I try to go to the browser, and type the address:
http://i0.sinaimg.cn/
The browser tries to load the page, but no progress is shown for more than 2 minutes. (I have full 3G signal; all other addresses work just fine). Eventually when I tried to access this URL in my Java code, I found a similar long delay when I try to open the HttpUrlConnection, and eventually I get this exception:
I/InetAddress( 1940): Unknown host i0.sinaimg.cn, throwing UnknownHostException W/System.err( 1940): java.net.UnknownHostException: Host is unresolved: i0.sinaimg.cn:80 W/System.err( 1940): at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:1002)
Why would DNS take so long? Also, if my program tries to issue the same HTTP request again, the same 2+ minute blocking happened. Is this an Android bug or a T-Mobile infrastructure bug? It seems the Android API should try to time-out faster, especially on the second attempt.
I have a HTC Hero for the last few weeks and really happy with it. I friend recently got the Lg Eve and was looking at it. She wanted to turn off the Wireless Network to cut down on when it accesses the 3G network, but unlike the Hero, I wasn't able to find the Mobile Network setting under Wireless Controls.We took it back to the Rogers store to ask if he sorta blew it off saying she didn't need to turn it off and help her installed a counter to track her data usage.So is there a way to turn it off when it's not in use?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs part of my battery saving techniques i often use a widget which turns off the APN. This has direct effect on disabling 3g as it no longer flashes in the task bar, but can someone explain the difference between turning off the APN or turning off the whole 'mobile network' (holding the power button and selecting mobile network off)Also, do both ways save the same battery?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust a quick question for anyone interested: Earlier today, I was running low on battery. I decided to toggle Internet access (mobile network) in order to save battery. However, I'm quite reliant on Google Voice. Throughout the day, I turned the mobile network back on briefly to receive messages. Is this constant on/off bad for the 1x/EV radio?
