I created a custom map in Google Maps "My Maps". Now i want to show that map on an android device, but not just opening it as a web page but showing it using MapView or smth similar. I want to be able to center on a place I have marked on the map etc. My custom map is a map containing the location of all gas stations in a city.

I can't figure out how to tell my Map to redraw its overlays once I've updated them. Currently the user has to touch the screen before the map is redrawn.

When I try to connect to the Market, it says "A network error has occured." In the notifications bar it has the 3G icon, and I'm able to use the browser without any troubles. Also, in the Google Maps app that comes with the phone, I don't see any map. I just see a grid with a blue circle with "Your Location" in the center. I'm was at the Verizon store yesterday because whenever I tried to call someone it said that my phone wasn't authenticated, and when I mentioned these two particular problems, he said that once my phone was authenticated everything should work.

I would like to use My Desire with offline maps and GPs like a satnav eg TomTom. As I understand it Google maps requires the data connection up to load relevant map. This can be expensive when roaming in Europe. So is it possible to obtain maps for memory and use the GPS to show location just like a TomTom.

Since I've had the phone now for a little over a month, about half the time that I start up Maps, it shows "My Position" as being at a house I lived at about a year ago, which is about an hour drive from where I live now. Back then, I was not with Verizon, but with ATT.
After a minute or so on Maps, it brings up my correct position. That changed about 4 days ago when I received a signal extender that was ordered from Verizon. Now, Maps starts up showing that I'm near a golf course in Canyon Lake, California. About 3 minutes later, it corrects itself.

I ask because I began using My Tracks a couple of weeks ago...very cool. I logged onto Google Maps from my office and there were the "tracks" I had saved. I never took action to upload them, they were just there I suppose as a function of allowing Google to sync. BUT I created and saved a map on the PC expecting to be able to see it on my phone, but it didn't happen.

I know I'm not the only person that gets emails with embedded html or inlined images via google mail. When I get emails like this, I have to click on "Show HTML" or "Show Picture" every single time an email comes in if I actually want to see the email the way it was intended to be shown. I know for a fact that iphones and other email readers dont have any issues with this. Is there a setting to automatically display the email the way it was meant to be shown instead of having to click these buttons each time I want to view the email correctly? Or, perhaps there's already a market app that forces the android email client to display emails correctly?

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something because I'm having trouble making this work for some reason. If I use a map, do I need to setup the LocationManager and GPS criteria and all?
I just need a map to paint on. I'm building an activity that displays location data collected and stored in SQLite...basically showing the user where they were (it's more complicated than that, but that is the essence). I can do this without needing to start up the whole GPS thing right?

I'm going to be visiting London in April. Presently I'm planning on buying a UK sim card for my MyTouch 3G to use while I'm there.
However, I think my biggest need for data will be for finding my way around London. Does Google Maps work over there (I've somehow gotten the impression that it doesn't), or is there another map app that works with the GPS?

I've got a new HTC Desire and I'm loving finally having GPS functionality on my phone and use a few apps regularly which are very useful. Can you recommend any other ones that make good use out of GPS and mapping functions. The ones I use are..
Google Maps - Needs no introduction. Just amazing. Google My Tracks - Another amazing one. Records your runs, bike rides, car journeys, etc. Plots them on a map and gives you things like average speed, top speed, altitude. This one has made me actually want to go out for a jog or bike ride.

I have several Android devices and each of them has different version of Google Maps: 3.0 in HTC G1, 3.1.1 in HTC Dream and 3.4 in Nexus one and Motorola Droid. When i use the following code: Intent myIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW,Uri.parse("geo:0,0? q=Starbucks"); I get different behavior on the devices: On the latest versions of Google Maps application I see a map the term centered around my current location with a reasonable zoom radius while in Google Maps 3.0 I see list of results and button to the map. Is there a way to get the same behavior on all devices? of course i prefer the behavior of the latest versions

Incorporating the Maps API into your application is free as long as the app is also free. Otherwise, you need a commercial license. A commercial license for $10K is a heck of a lot of $1.99 apps. Does anyone have any insight on alternative payment structures for the Maps API. Excerpt from terms.html: 9.1 Free, Public Accessibility to Your Maps API Implementation. Your Maps API Implementation must be generally accessible to users without charge. You may require users to log in to your Maps API Implementation if you do not require users to pay a fee. Unless you have entered into a separate written agreement with Google or obtained Google's written permission, your Maps API Implementation must not:
(a) require a fee-based subscription or other fee-based restricted access; or (b) operate only behind a firewall or only on an internal network (except during the development and testing phase).
