View 1 RepliesMy only complaint about the Droid is the seeming lack of options for notifications.
Is there a way, or an app, that would allow you to assign different notifications to emails vs texts vs missed calls?
Also, does anyone know if there's a way to set the phone to re-notify you periodically if you have a notification that has not been looked at? I tend to leave my phone sitting on my desk at work and would like it to let me know if I missed a call or text while I was away from my desk.
Ideally I'd like to silence email notifications, but have text and missed call notifications with unique ring tones for each, and I'd like the phone to renotify me every 10 minutes or so if I have a text or missed call waiting for me.
I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUpdate:I got a app called "GMail Label Notifier"...it serves the same purpose and is really much more flexible since you can assign unique alerts to each trigger You just need to setup filters in Gmail to apply a label. I have been using it a week or so now and it seems to work great.
I have moved from a BB Tour to the HTC Incredible and really like the Android OS.
A few things I really rely on though I can't seem to replicate on Android. The most important is the "Level 1" or high importance message tagging. With BIS I could setup a filter so that any emails with a specific word or words in the subject line or from a specific email address caused a different alert on the BB when received.
Also, I can't find many options for different notifications like a specific one for emails, another for SMS, another for voice mails, etc.
What apps are there for LED notifications that change the color? Also, what colors does the Incredible's LED light support?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you have an app that is due to update/refresh every, lets say, 2 hours.
What if you don't connect to wi-fi or 3G for 5 hours. Does it just check the first time you connect or will the app say - OK, I'm connected now, I'll refresh in 2 hours from now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a research project and I need to write an Android application that is able to intercept SMS's and, according to their content, route them to a web services without showing any alert.
I tried to register a broadcast receiver on the intent SMS_RECEIVED, but the default SMS application is still notifying the SMS in the notification bar. The only way to achieve what is manually disabling the message notification from the default SMS application's menu.
I found that the "SMS Guard" application, available on the market, is able to filter messages out without any notification, without touching any default configuration (I wrote to the developer, no answer yet).
Different notifications for events on my nexus one?
I have only had the phone about a week and I really like it over my old iPhone. HOwever, there is a big YUK about it and that is that there are not any different notifications for different events. I mean, I get the same 'noise' for email, connections, voice mail etc. Because I get so much email, I have learned to sorta ignore the notification. Thing is, i really need to know if I have voice mail or not? So... is there an app, or a way of changing the notification JUST for voice mail?
How do add different custom notifications to k-9 mail?
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday I woke up and discovered I was not getting email notifications on my Droid anymore. If I go to the Gmail app they are in there as unread but I'm not getting any kind of notification that I actually have new email unless I go in and manually check. Is anyone else having this problem or knows of a solution? This is getting to be an annoying problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that I'm not receiving notifications that apps I've downloaded from the Android Market have available updates. The user manual shows a little icon of an Android shopping bag in the 'Status Bar - Notification Icons' section (page 7), so I think something's wrong. For example, just today I went into the Android Market to download a new app and upon checking 'My Downloads', I noticed seven apps that had updates available. At least four of these apps had been opened and used within the last hour, and still nothing was mentioned about the update. Is anyone else noticing the same?

View 12 Replies View Relatedwhen I get notifications from Facebook, it does the usual, notification bar, pull down, take me to the browser deal. Is there a way I can set it to take me to the touch site or the app instead? I prefer the interfaces on those better than the lackluster mobile site.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to set the notifications behavior on the EVO? Specifically with Google Talk? I would like the phone to beep at me only once when someone sends a google talk message, and then not ever again for the following messages until I unlock the phone's screen and reactivate the google talk app. I think it already works this way for email, but not for Gtalk. Can this be done? And, I already know that if I open up the chat session, the sounds shut off on successive messages. However I would like it to stop the beeping without opening the chat window.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Sprint Hero, and I know that GTalk and Gmail do push. But what about all the other apps out there? Mainly IM apps. I realize how difficult it would be for a dev to utilize push, but what about a company like AIM that already has push notifications for the iPhone AIM app? The official AIM app was recently released, and I am dissapointed to see that it has no push notifications. That means, leaving it on in the background keeps the phone awake. I would really like to be able to leave my AIM on in the background without having to worry about my phone battery draining...
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am new to developing apps for android. But I am developing one now. As a part of the app I need to disable some SMS notifications. That is, when the app is running and I receive an SMS it shouldn't be displayed to the user. I need my app to intercept it before it goes to the inbox and handle accordingly. Please tell me how I have to proceed along these lines.
If I cannot intercept an SMS, is there a way to hide the notifications and notify only certain messages after reading their contents.

My MyTouch has several lights i would like to control for status feedback and notifications. What drves me nutz, though, is while my trackball would light up when i got a message or something, this phone would do nothing after the initial notification. My last two phones had a light that would keep flashing until i checked the device. The ones i had before would continue to sound off. What can i use to have something light up every so many seconds until i checked the phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using some home replacement that allow me to hide the notification Bar and that's something I really like.
All the informations can be replaced by some widgets, but I would like to display the notifications too.
As I already developed some applications, I would like to know if there is a command line that allow an application to get all the notifications. I plan to add this to a widget or a toast.
How do I get my facebook notifications go through the app rather than emailing me? On my BB, the notifications would go through the app and not email messages. Is this a possible fix?
I switched over from a Blackberry Tour (speaking of FAIL) to an old used OG Droid. Had it 1 day and already really loving it. Running Android 2.2 (Froyo? - I'm better with #s than names)
Want to keep the user from reading these messages in the inbox or being notified by them. deleting does not seem to be a problem but i cannīt the sms notification cleared.

Is there an app/or way to set different tones for different notifications? Like, a different sound for a text, different sound for a voicemail, different sound for an e-mail, etc.?
On my windows mobile phones this was possible...the EVO being my first android phone, it doesn't seem like it is. That stinks.
