I have tried other methods to download info from a URL, but needed a faster one. I need to download and parse about 250 separate pages, and would like the app to not appear ridiculously slow. This is the code I am currently using to retrieve a single page, any insight would be great.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWondering if this is possible. I am trying to go to paperless flight check in for my airline. Continental sends me email with url link to my boarding pass. (I have HTC Incredible). Problem is, I cant download or save the boarding pass to by phone. Instead I need to rely on connecting to that link from email when I go thru security. This is very risky if link is down or 3G signal is weak. Wondering if theres anyway to download/save the web page in advance?

I have the localized strings file that is used in the Iphone app that I work on to port to Android. Are there any tools that go through the file taken from the xcode project and build the xml needed to use the strings in android? Sorting by date doesn't work because they're strings (unless I'm doing it wrong.I've googled this issue for ~5 days, and it looks like there should be a way to capture the date from the date picker, convert it to a Long, store it in sqlite as a Long, select and sort on the Long date value, then convert the Long back to a "mm/dd/yyyy" string for display. I've tried various combinations of parse statements, Date, FormatDate, etc. with no luck at all.On activity start, get today's date and display it in button which calls the datepicker.Capture new date from datepicker (if one is entered), save it as a long to sqlite.On opening an activity showing a listview of records, select from sqlite with orderby on date (Long), convert Long to "mm/dd/yyyy" string for display in ListView.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have preferences where you can enable/disable what items will show up on the menu. There are 17 items. I made a string array in values/arrays.xml with titles for each of these 17 items.
I have preferences.xml which has the layout for my preferences file, and I would like to reference a single item from the string array to use as the title.
In the Android developer reference, I see how I can reference a single string with XML, but now how I can reference a string from an array resource in XML.
Can anybody give me some clue that how to convert binary string into a string(english). I have tried and googled so much but couldn't find an answer.

However, it never does. I logged the results and it should match up but it does not. Can anyone please enlighten me as to why this doesn't work?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the tronsmart CX-919 mini pc running 4.2 and there is an issue with the browser reverting back to the home page or the previous page. When I try to display a webpage on our intranet it reverts back to the homepage or previous page after about 3 hours. I need it to display constantly. I read somewhere that it was a Download Manager issue and disabling it would work but I can't find where to disable it. Also it was stated that Flash was an issue but i tried uninstalling it and it just reinstalled itself and the problem kept occurring. I just want to display a page in a browser and for it to stay on the screen (full screen) until I manually navigate away from it. I plan to leave it on for weeks at a time.

Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?
I use Eclipse for my development. The problem with it is, I find it incredibly memory hungry... it often takes ages to load up, when I save a file it hangs for a while (saying "Building workspace" in the bottom right hand corner), and is just generally slow.I wondered if anyone had any tips for streamlining it for Android. I don't use it for anything else (if necessary, I will install a separate instance for general Java stuff) so I can't help thinking there are lots of modules and stuff I could get rid of which may help it run more smoothly.
View 14 Replies View RelatedBuddy of mine rooted his EVO 4G and added tethering app. He showed me how I could connect my Samsung Captivate to his EVO via Wifi and surf using his cell (3G) connection. To my knowledge, he was connected using only 3G (no 4G signal there). However, page loads were MUCH faster on my phone when tethered to his phone than when I use my own AT&T 3G connection.
