Android :: Is It Possible To Edit History?

Most annoying thing in Android.. You have an item in your search history, that's misspelled by one character, or you want to modify it slightly to form a new search. Unfortunately, you can only do that saved search OVER AGAIN, with no changes! So, if I typed in "Univeral enormous elephanr keyboard" only to have it fail because I mis-typed "elephant", my only option now is to enter the whole thing again.
Wanted: When you tap and hold an item from search (or dialing) history, you get 3 choices:
1. Use again. (Does the current default action)
2. EDIT Pops the text back into the entry line, so you can edit it.
3. Delete. (So you can delete entries without clearing them all.)

In editText I set text as $ . I dont want to edit before $ symbol . i.e edit text doesnt want take any value before $ . ex: $adfdfd correctad$dsdff wrong .like this . how to restrict this one .

I am doing a custom edit box class. It starts something like: public class Amount Field extends Edit Text and has over riden the constructor to implement the Edit Text widget style However when I implement this on my XML I get an editable Text View instead of the Edit Text (there is only text but not the surrounding white box) and also when I click on it nothing happens, only text color changes. Are there any ideas on why this happens? I've done list components the same way and style is not altered.

I am trying to create an App that has a similar layout as the view you get when you edit a contact. The main functionality I need is the ability to click a "+" or "-" button in the row and add/remove another row where the user can input another line of data. I have looked into the expandable lists but I am not sure if this is what I should be using or if it is just a list with a custom adapter.

I am trying to search for a particular contact number in call log and in contact book of the android phone. But I found that the contact number are stored in different way in contact book and call log. For e.g. I have a contact number 9889880912 to search in the call log and contact book. To do this, I do the following: add a contact in the android emulator. When i write the contact number for the contact as 9889880912 , it automaticlly gets changed to 988-988-0912 The dash sign (-) are automatically inserted in the contact number. I saved the number. Make a call to this number from the emulator. Now, using my code, when I am searching for a contact number in contact list by 9889880912,it shows no result when I am trying to search by contact number 988-988-0912 , the contact information from contact book is displayed. However, when I am trying to search for 988-988-0912 in call log history, it is displayed. but when I am trying to search for 9889880912 in call history , I get no result. How can I get the contact search by 9889880912 in contact book.

I'm trying to write a mediaplayer activity launched from browser. But I found if I launch mediaplayer activity from browser, it won't be shown in the task history window(long press home key). And if I launch mediaplayer activity launched from home, it can be shown in the task history window. Is there any way to make mediaplayer activity to be shown in the task history window when launching it from the browser activity?

I have an application that runs only once. But after finishing (finish()), it remains in the history of applications (last opened) and can be opened again. (Long press on the Home button). How do I remove my application from this history? I ask because everything I found, it's a flag in the manifest - 'noHistory'. But it works with Activiti history, not last opened Application history.

to ensure that nothing is left in the history and back button behaves as usual.Unfortunately, this code doesn't work for me and the _articleView.canGoBack() still returns true. Implementation of clearHistory method is quite complex and uses asynchronous mechanism, which may not work immediately, but no matter how much time I wait the history is still there.

I have 3 activities, I want to allow only one of each of the activities to be on the history stack at one time.A>B>C>[GO TO B] gives me A>C>B using FLAG_ACTIVITY_REORDER_TO_FRONT flag.Now the problem is that when I call B from C I want B to be restarted not just brought to the front.how can I do that?

I have total 3 activities.
First activity(A) starts second activity(B). From Activity B, 3rd activity(C) is called.
Activity B, shows list with checkbox to select items and single OK button. On clicking OK button Activity C is called with selection.
When user clicks BACK button in Activity C, by default Activity B is displayed (with selected checkbox).
I want to display Activity A when BACK button is clicked in Activity C.
How to achieve that?
I have handled OnKeyDown() in Activity C to startactivity(A). it is working. But when user clicks BACK button on Activity A, again Activity C is displayed. while application should end.
In this direction how to skip Activity B is ever called?

is there any way I could view history of the notification log file. I tried using andriod sdk ( db shell logcat > log.txt ) but does not get the log i wanted.
For example, if a contact join viber. You will receive a notification of the contact joining viber. Im trying to get the history of this log.

I'm using a Motorola Backflip running Android 2.1. Every contact in my phone has a History tab which shows recent history such as recent texts, calls, and facebook messages for that person (facebook is linked through motoblur). My questions are:
1) Is the history tab on every Android Device or is it only from Motoblur?
2) If it is an Android entity, is it possible to query this information using the new ContactsContract and SQLite calls, if so, how?
If it's only a motoblur entity, how does motoblur query that information to provide? (ie. how would you pull all contact history from calls, texts, and facebook because a linear search would be far inefficient.

When debugging I've sometimes wanted a tool that would list running tasks and show which activities are on the history stack for each task. I can get a list of tasks by calling ActivityManager.getRunningTasks(). Each ActivityManager.RunningTaskInfo object in the list gives me interesting information such as the base activity, top activity, and number of activities in the task. I haven't found a way to actually enumerate all the activities in the task's history stack. Is there a way to get at such information?

The third column of the page noted in the subject line is labeled "previous month sales". The question is simple whether this is the total of sales price or total after Google takes 30%, i.e., the total deposited in our bank account? I assume we only pay tax on the latter, correct? I realize this is the wrong go forum for this, but like I said, the Market forum almost always leaves all questions on the floor unanswered and this is important information that people need to know.

My app shows a signup activity the first time the user runs the app, looks like:
ActivitySplashScreen (welcome to game, sign up for an account?)
ActivitySplashScreenSignUp (great, fill in this info)
ActivityGameMain (main game screen)
so the activities launch each other in exactly that order, when the user clicks through a button on each screen.
When the user goes from activity #2 to #3, is it possible to wipe #1 and #2 off the history stack completely? I'd like it so that if the user is at #3, and hits the back button, they just go to the homescreen, instead of back to the splash screen.
I think I can accomplish this with tasks (ie. start a new task on #3) but wanted to see if there was simpler method.

I want to programmatically clear the history of the android maps (and navigation) application.
I know there is a way to clear the browser history via Browser.clearSearches(getContentResolver());
And the corresponding permission: com.android.browser.permission.WRITE_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS
and this works fine (2.2.).
I couldn't find any way to clear the Maps-History though. Clearing the google/history online doesn't help either.
There are some apps in the market that promote to do that, so there must be an API for it, but i really couldn't find it yet.
I also messed around a bit with CLEAR_APP_CACHE and CLEAR_APP_USER_DATA but seems like they are signed/root-only permissions and delte too much anyways.

I have 3 Activities that my user continuously is looping through. When user is back to the main screen I need to terminate previous history so user cannot hit back button and end up on screen #2, what would be a good way to do something like that? To reiterate - say I don't know or predict the path which leads me to the original view. But once I load it I want to clear history that led user to that view. In 2.0 it's possible with overwriting Activity#onBackPressed but I need something like that in 1.6

I'm creating a notification with something similar to the following:

The key here is the extra data on the Intent for the notification. Once I click on the notification and it brings up SomeActivity, it brings up the activity and the extra data is available.
However, if I exit the app, hold the home button until the recent activities list comes up, and choose to open the app again, the extra data is still passed. Is there a way I can make this data get passed only if the app is opened via the Notification, and not from the recent activities list?

During my activity I'm sending an intent to the browser in order to display a webpage :
Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("http://ww.mywebpage.com"); startActivity(i);
I need to make sure that before sending the intent the browser cache and history are cleared so that the page get loaded from server directly and not from phone.
So far I've found the 2 following but I'm not sure they are used correctly :
Browser.clearHistory(getContentResolver());
Browser.clearSearches(getContentResolver());
Also with that cache is not cleared.
