I have a Motorola Moto G 8GB which is running very low on storage (only about 800mb left). This phone does not take Micro SD cards but it comes with 50GB Google Drive storage. However i haven't used this at all. I am wondering whether i could download android apps and games to google drive, dropbox etc. Games like Real Racing take up about 1GB so i cannot download it to my phone. Can i download it to the Cloud? If this is not possible, is there any way that i could save the app data on the cloud. E.g. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is about 37mb to download off the play store, but then you must download the updates etc which are about another 250mb. is there anyway to save this 250mb on the cloud. Or any other games data.

You save the data somewhere. And then, when your app starts set the values to the view. On Thu, Oct 14, 2010 at 10:58 AM, pramod.deore <deore.pramo...@gmail.com>wrote > I am developing one application in that at the first time when user > run application then user add some data to application and it is > displayed in xml file (suppose it is main.xml) and if user closes > application and open it again then I want that main.xml must show the > data which as added by the user at first time. i don't know how to do...

I would need your feedback on an app named iSOS. Basically when you feel you are in danger you press the icon on your phone and it sends texts, sms, fb, twitter to 5 of your contacts (you need to choose them first I guess) + it calls 911 + it says where you are located. I think it's great but I would like to know first if someone has tried it already?

I'm getting pretty crap battery life out of my desire and I've had it over a week now. I'm having to charge twice a day, if not three times a day as I'm canning the hell out of it!) But now as my usage starts to drop, what's the best way to conserve the batttery with quick touches when its not being used? I press and hold the power switch and then select to turn off internet. Does this also prevent stuff going on in the background like sync auto update etc. ? I'm seeing roughly 30 to 40 percent battery being used by the Android system, and about 20 to 30 percent being used by cell standby. There's various settings and ways to stop internet I've found, but is there a way to nip all that energy zapping stuff quickly when the phones not being used, and then activate it again quickly when you wanna have a play. Us there anyway to get those percentages for the Android system down?

I am doing a painting program (KIds Paint - you can find in Android Market) and I have a lot of requests to save the content on disk or to wallpaper. I have been searching around but cannot find solution. My guess is that I probably wanted to get the bitmap from the canvas, but I can't find ways to get it. Then I try to set an empty bitmap into the canvas and draw on the canvas, and save the bitmap... but I got an empty bitmap..........

I'm trying to use my G1 as my GPS device when i go hiking. Since i will hit many spots outside of tower coverage, i am wondering if there is a way to download maps and save them to my phone, so that my GPS location will not be a blue dot amidst a sea of gray boxes. Is there any way for this? Google maps and AndNav both download stuff temporarily, correct? they won't show any maps if they can't locate Edge or 3G network.

I have the Motorola Droid on the Verizon Wireless network. It's doing great however I can't find a decent Email app that I can also use as a widget. So I'm stuck with the default Email app on the phone.
I use it to send pictures to myself. However I can view the attached picture but when I try and save it:
"Sorry! The application Email (processcom.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I try and try and the same. I have not tried using the Gmail app though.

I am working on a function to download an image from a web server, redisplay it on the screen, and if the user wishes to keep the image, save it on the SD card in a certain folder. Is there an easy way to take a bitmap and just save it to the SD card in a folder of my choice? My issue is that I can download the image, display it on screen as a Bitmap. The only way I have been able to find to save an image to a particular folder is to use FileOutputStream, but that requires a byte array. I am not sure how to convert (if this is even the right way) from Bitmap to byte array, so I can use a Fileoutput stream to write the data.

I'm currently developing an app which uses tabs and google map. What I want to do is to get the gps positions, say 3, and store them in sql db (which I'm already doing) and then display them on the map. I already created canvas, added to overlay but those points disappear when I'm changing tabs so I thought if there is a way to somehow store those coords with google map so I can retrieve them and display them nicely whenever I'm clicking the "map tab"? Please can anyone help?

I am trying to find the best way to save files to the phone. Basically I have an XML file on a web server that I would like to be able to save on the phone. Should I create a specific folder in my project to save to and if so how do I save the file. Or should I make it to where when you click the Save button it checks for an SD card and if there is and SD card create a folder (if one isn't already there) and save the file in the new folder or save it to the phone? If someone could explain the most efficient way of saving files for my app and how to save the file from the web server I would greatly appreciate the insight. Any tutorial links would be awesome.

If I save the image with a outputstream, I can save the image but my program and android's gallery can't see the new image. If I save the image with MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage, I can see the saved image but the problem it's that this function save a little image called thumbnails which I don't know what to do.
