I'm trying to read which ROM the user is using from my app.It seems that this info can be seen in the phone's settings, in the About Phone setting under "Build Number".How can I read this info with code?Couldn't see it with android.os.Build class.

I am looking for an app to do the following things. Change ringer setting when getting a call from a certain number. i.e. Turn the ringer on when I call it from my google voice number in case I loose it.Also, to run a script when connecting to a specific wifi network.I believe Locale can do at least the first one, but I was wondering if there were any cheaper apps to do this as I have no interest in the gps features of locale.

They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). There is something that surprised me:
When I had never changed one of settings, for example LOCK_PATTERN_ENABLED, the method:
getString(ContentResolver resolver, String name) returned null.
By default lock pattern is disabled when i activated it, method returned 1 and then when disabled returned 0.
My question: is true that when you havent changed the value of a setting, the system goes to look for its default value out of settings.db? and is true that this value at settings.db until you change it is null?

I decompiled Settings.apk, SettingsProvider.apk and Phone.apk. There you can find some bools.xml where are stablished default values for some settings I've not found yet every setting I need.
I've been running NovaLauncher on my Nexus for a long time and love it, so when I got my Nook HD+ the first thing I did was load up NovaLauncher. I love it on the tablet, too, but when going into settings the right pane for settings has a tan/gray background with white lettering and I can't read the fine print. How to change the background color?

A nice toolbox docked on the side where I can drag and drop controls to the screen/form and then allow me to set the properties in the prop inspector and then create events, etc. I've got ideas for some business applications and I HATE having to deal with main.xml. Droid Draw is okay, but it is a far cry from having a good UI plugin.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.

Note - assigning to local String variable instead of char[] - fails as well.
I have the same problem with Gesture Builder on the emulator and when I build the app myself and install om my G1.
It does not save the gestures correctly on my sdcard. It does not create a folder called "gestures" but instead creates a file called "gestures" with a size on about 2kb. It does not grow when I create more gestures. Is this really correct, because I thought a folder would be created in which each gesture would be stored in different files.
I look in code for CreateGestureActivity.java and here is where the magic of saving happens:

Basically, i use my personal cell phone for work and personal use, i have multiple exchange accts that keep things sorted and seperated.
recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.
what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).
I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?

I've created an app in Flash Builder "Burrito". When I run the application there are no project warnings or errors. The .apk was compiled successfully. The emulator is running Andorid 2.2. after changing some router settings (like the number of the channel) my SGS2 on 4.0.3 ICS doesn't connect anymore. WiFi itself is working fine, except the AP of the router i changed. Deleting all AP information and reentering all WPA2 data will change nothing. In my eyes the phone is not forgetting AP data completely when you try to delete an AP entry.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons.
The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all.
After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied.
So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?
I am testing my application on an LG Eve phone. I have an application that tries to download something from the web, and when it throws an exception, it is supposed to launch an alertdialog saying that there was an error. When the phone has no wifi signal, the program crashes at builder.create() (see code below). However, when there is wifi signal, and the exception is thrown by something else (for instance, a typo in the url), the dialog launches the way it's supposed to. Any clue as to why this could be?
