I am interested in integrating Scala (or some other non-Java JVM-language) into the android platform. I am not referring to writing an android application with Scala, that I did early early on, but actually hooking into the build process that builds the android platform source tree. I imagine this will be a matter of hooking into the makefiles and such. Does anyone have insight into this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to write a free mobile app that would make payments merchant-agnostic for the customer. Context: Most web-apps are merchant centric and allow for multiple payment types from the customer. But the problem I'm trying to additionally solve is to have, say, a mobile app that is capable of paying as many merchants as possible using your debit, credit or PayPal account. It shouldn't rely on per-merchant technical partnerships to work. It should just be able to talk to any merchant after writing the upfront code. There are a few solutions that come to mind: Integrate with VISA, Mastercard, or PayPal. However, my goal is to integrate with stores that sometimes only take debit, sometimes only VISA, sometimes only PayPal, etc, while re-inventing the wheel as little as possible. I'm wondering if anybody has already solved a problem like this before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNow that checkout will be supporting more countries, is it possible to integrate google checkout directly into my app. My business model is not based around a paid/demo app model, but on a add-on model. I would like to be able to make sales directly from the app itself using the market account if possible. I could reposition to a free/paid model, but I'd prefer a in-app model using google checkout and a streamlined process. Is this even possible at the moment?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a new app and this is my first ever app I have attemped to make with the android os. I am using eclipse 3.6 and using android 1.5 version as the base to make the app as compatible as I can with all android phones. I am a newbie to java and I read a few tutorials which helped me get the app up and working but I am using webview using iframes and have the html document hosted online but I would like to have it intergrated into the app itself so that I will not have to worry if a lot of people use the app will not bring down the website.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat are the best practices people have used to integrate help/tips in their application? One way I can think of is having html snippets in resources or assets - perhaps as html files - maybe as formatted strings. However, I think it would break down once an html file linked to another html file or an image or icon. I'm sure some of you have apps that are so wonderfully intuitive that they don't need any help. And I admire that. But I'm not making that assumption for my app.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's about the Gallery application. I've registered my application as a target for the "Share" option where the selected picture is being sent to another Activity in order to share it. The default application in the emulator was Messaging, and the image is attached using this option. Well, now I've got my application and Android asks me which application should it use to complete the action. I select my application and it opens the correct Activity, but... how can I get the image?
My code (that doesn't work) is as follows:
CODE:.........
While debugging, the intent and the bundle .toString() methods give the following results:
CODE:............
But with this, uri is null. I've tried myriads of combinations, but none works.
I download android's codes and build it for simulator. The simulator can be launched successfully, but it always popup "SORRY! Application Messaging (in process com.android.Message)...", or similar popup information. Do u know how to resolve it? By the way, how can I integrate it with eclipse? When I use eclipse, it reports many errors as following:

It might sound a little odd but I am in the final phases of finishing up my app that would pay users. There is an activity in the app where as and when the users use the app, money keeps accruing. I have a button in that activity called Cash Out which when the user reaches a certain amount can be clicked and is supposed to let the users take the money accrued from the app. I have contacted Google Checkout and Paypal so far and Paypal suggested personal payments can be integrated in my case and sent me the Paypal for Android API doc. The doc itself is very useful but does not describe this kind of a scenario that I am looking for. Any clues how to integrate such a functionality.
