Android :: Digital Clock Widget

Jun 21, 2010

All I'm looking for is a widget that looks like the clock that comes standard on the sense UI, but without the weather info. Anything like that out there? Date and Location i'd still like to have, the large time still there, but no weather information.

Android :: Digital Clock Widget V1.8.5

Sep 11, 2010

I'm desperately looking for Digital Clock Widget v1.8.5 by Maize, link to AppBrain page: Digital Clock Widget - Android app on AppBrain

I can't get it off the Market (it's not there) and I can't find the .apk anywhere on the web...

Since it is a free app, I hope it's okay to post here to ask if anyone has the .apk file and would be willing to share it? It's a great widget and I deleted it by mistake!

Android :: Digital World Clock?

Apr 6, 2010

I'm looking for a small world clock digital clock widget that I can put on my home screen that would take 1-2 icon slots. In particular, it needs to be a world clock (ie: not the normal time on your phone, configurable to some other time), it needs to be a digital clock, and it would help if it supported military time format. I'd also like it to be smallish, in that it takes no more than 2 icon slots on my screen. I have a Milestone and for some ungodly reason we have all this empty space around icons in a 4x4 screen. Any help would be appreciated. The world clock on my phone is a regular dial-style analog clock, looks like it takes 2x2 icon slots, and is difficult to read. Plus, being analog, there's no way to tell AM/PM.

Android :: Better Keyboard - Switch From T9 Keyboard To Regular Qwerty Keyboard

Apr 18, 2010

For those of you that are familiar with better keyboard. I was wondering about an easy way to switch from the t9 keyboard to the regular qwerty keyboard. I was under the impression that swiping left would toggle between the 2 but all that does is bring me to the numbers and symbols keyboard. I've been changing back and forth to the android keyboard because its faster than going into the better keyboard settings.

Android :: Xml Widget Reference?

Mar 1, 2009

To be plain, the android / xml widget reference material is poor at best.Rather than approaching the controls from an xml point of view, its all driven from a class point of view, which is clunky when you want to figure out how to build a good xml UI.Is there any decent documentation with design in mind (tag names, attribute names, etc) or is it just figure it out and struggle through the best you can? I'm on my 2nd android app and losing patience with hunting and pecking for the correct attributes / tags.

Android :: How To Get Reference Book?

Jul 15, 2010

Is there one? I have "Professional Android 2 Application Development" by Meier and "Teach Yourself Android Application Development in 24 Hours" by Darcy/Conder. Both are mediocre at best. Neither is a decent REFERENCE, but rather they are basically structured as tutorials, without nothing in the way of reasonably comprehensive API documentation (which also, BTW, is woefully inadequate on the android.com site). And no sort of in-depth discussion of the structure of the system, so one could perhaps understand it rather than simply using the (inadequate) cookbooks.

Android :: Sort Of Xml Reference?

Aug 31, 2009

Is there any sort of xml reference?

I found this which turned out to be invaluable for me http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/msg/d334017d72909c79

but I can't figure out how I was supposed to know how to do that, had I not found that post.

I know that the api reference has xml attributes listed for many of the classes... but what about xml tags? Where is it documented that I could build a shape using <padding>, <corners>, <solid> tags?

I'd really like to know where I can find such documentation.

Motorola Droid X :: APP - ROOT - Keyboard - Keyboard Manager - Dual Keyboard - Portrait - Landscape Switch

Nov 10, 2010

I tried it and it works so far.

Dev = ne0fhyk from XDA.

From the XDA forum: Link to app page = [APP][ROOT/Keyboard] Keyboard Manager - Dual keyboard: Portrait/landscape switch - xda-developers

Verbage:

Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.

Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.

To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer

The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'

Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon
-' start on boot' feature is disabled because it's not yet complete and tested... Sorry for the confusion

Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.

The app is still in development.

I have a custom view that needs a reference to the activity that created it.Dianne Hackborn said in another thread: >Give your view a reference to the activity (or a Java interface it implements) and call back through that. >Much much MUCH more efficient than sending a broadcast. >See all of the standard view and view subclass callbacks for examples.

Android :: Invalid Reference During Callback?

Jul 29, 2010

I have an object that is used for calling callback functions ----- static jobject o;

I have assigned the callback function to that object through a pointer, env -----

o=env->NewGlobalRef(callback);

The same pointer, env, points towards the function CallVoidMethod( ) that uses JNI to reach to the java code.

env->CallVoidMethod(o, methodId, pDeviceId, deviceStatus, statusReason, connectionProgressInfo);

However on calling this function, the system is getting crashed, and VM says that it's an invalid reference to static jobject o and then it crashes.

My code is as follows :

Android :: How To Reference Adk Resource In A Different Project

Jun 25, 2010

I am developing a study project using the mosembro (mobile semantic browser) project inside my Android project. I am using Eclipse and I created my project, downloaded / imported mosembro and included in my project's build path.

So now my code needs to refer to a resource in the mosembro's project. I want to do something like this: String commonJS = getScript(R.raw.common);

In this snippet, I want to load a javascript file from mosembro's project: res -> raw -> common.js so I need the java syntax to get "R" (precompiled resource-class) of Mosembro from my HelloGoogle project.

What is the syntax to replace the R-class of this with the included project's R-class.

Android :: Recommended Encryption Combination For Digital Signatures

Jul 3, 2010

I have finally - after days and days of agony - figured out that I need two forms of encryption for my Digital Signatures Project. The first will will be symmetric (AES) and will encrypt the license data and the second will be a asymmetric (RSA) an will encrypt the symmetric key. Can someone give me pointers on the best methods to use for Android.

For the public/private keys I am using: "RSA/ECB/PKCS1Padding"(I head ECB is bad so what should I use?, what about the PKCS1Padding - shoudl I be using PKCS5Padding?)

For the symetric keys I will probably use: "AES/?/?" (What mode and padding should I use?)

The provider: "BC"

RSA Keysize: 1024 (I tried 2048 but it didn't work for some reason)

AES Keysize: ?
