I'm trying to develop an application which display the locations of contacts on a map (a Msn-like but for geo-localisation). I search to display a route between my own location and a contact location I want to join but I find yet no solution to do this. In the Android API and Maps add-on API I just find classes to display and listen Location, Distance, GeoPoint, etc., but no possibility to display a route between two points. Is it possible or not provided by the API?

I use the ndk to get faster processing performance of the math/physics section of the game, so I need to use OpenGL to get the fastest performance. Right now, I make a texture every frame out of an array that holds the colors of every pixel. I am only able to get ~10 frames per second with this method. Is there anyway I could speed this up? ...

I am writing a application that needs to draw a "route" comprised of lots of GPS points (long+lat). The points are close together and don't follow roads, simply drawing a line between each point is ideal.
The current implementation I have is very slow as I am looping over all the GPS coordinates and creating a new Point and overlayitem in an itemized overlay. This takes around 20 seconds for it to load all of these points and draw them to the mapview. Is there a way in which I can construct a series of lines or point from the GPS coordinates and draw them onto the mapview?
Example of current implementation:
CODE:...................
I'm working on a project to display a route in a MapView based on current location from GPS Provider. I'm able to draw the path between two points but the problem starts when the location changes to a new point causing the draw path to erase. Basically my Location Listener saves the current Geopoint and sets the new Geopoint location and after that it starts the overlay to draw a path based on those two points. I think an option could be saving the coordinates to a database and then pulling the information from there to draw the path.
private class MyLocationListener implements LocationListener {
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Tracking device..",
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
[code]....
All new to this forum and just got my first android phone over the weekend which I'm really excited about and so far love every minute of it. The reason for this posting is because I'm looking for a certain application. I know there are many flight tracker apps out there but I seem to remember hearing about on app which you could just point your phone at a specific airplane it would give you information about where it originated and where it was headed, it was great because you didn't have to enter any information and you could track random flights that you saw going overhead.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just migrated from a BB Bold to an HTC Desire, and this is my question:
In the BB Bold, one of the functions it had was that you could switch your phone to the 'Bedside mode', which would put the phone into a 'Sleep' mode and it would not allow any calls or messages to be delivered until the phone was taken out of the Bedside mode, and then you could see your messages that have been queued and waiting to be delivered.
In the Desire, does the 'Flight' mode carry out the same function or not? If not, is there another function that can put the Desire into sleep mode, keep the Alarm function active, and queue the messages for delivery when the phone is taken out of the Flight or Sleep mode?
I just got my desire and was downloading/syncing etc., and wanted to make sure I did it over WiFi rather than 3G but couldn't seem to get that to work or wasn't sure if I had. I tried flight mode like iphone but that seem to turn off WiFi too - so then tried normal mode and mobile network set to off - this seemed to leave the signal bars showing, so phone not actually off - so does that mean that data is off?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI use ant to do release builds, and eclipse to do all my debug builds. With the new 1.5 sdk, my build.xml overides the resource-src target in order to perform some additional tasks, and it then depends on android_rules.resource-src to get the proper toolchain behaviour.This works well for ant, but eclipse doesn't seem to know where android_rules comes from (not surprising since it is dynamically imported via code), and thus says there is an error in the file. This in turn stops the entire android project from building. So I need to either somehow get eclipse to parse the build.xml properly, or better still, get eclipse to ignore the build.xml altogether since build.xml takes no part in the eclipse build.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a nice looking, functional SMS widget. I'm currently using the one from Beautiful Widgets, but as much as I like the other widgets in that package, I think the SMS one is painfully ugly and doesn't fit with anything else on my home screen. I know I could have Handcent do popup notifications, but I would prefer to have a widget like the one I currently use that sits on the home screen.
Something skinnable would be preferable, but if nothing like that exists, then perhaps a simple, minimalistic or universal design.
Anybody know of anything that I might like? I'm willing to pay for a good one, it doesn't have to be a freebie.

I have an imageview which has a photo taken with the camera as its background and a frame as it's foreground (src). In that way the photo is positioned behind the frame so the photo get's a nice border.
The imageview is a square (265x265dip). Now the problem is that photos taken are rectangular and thuse they are squeezed into the imageview making them look akward.
So how can I crop the bitmap of the photo so it is fitted as a square so I can then put it as a background for the imageview?
If you go into settings/date and time the first option is a check box that says Automatic (use network-provided values). If you uncheck that it does not stick through a reboot. Upon restarting your phone this box will be checked once again. Now for the interesting part. If I put the phone into flight mode, uncheck the automatic box and then change the time and/or date. The instant I re-check automatic the time is reset correctly. How is this possible? I thought that flight mode actually turned the radio off. If it does indeed turn the radio off then how is the phone able to instantly set the time to the correct value?

After the last change of hour ( i say it, but i don't know if there any coinsidence), my smartphone who was on automatique date/hour, was always bloqued in flight mode. If i change the mode, it will be good during seconds, and back in flight mode.
I have changed it, in manual mode, i put the time and date, and now it stay in Gsm mode, all is correct.
But when i put on my smartphone, it run under flight mode, i must change it, put in gsm mode, and it stay like that.
But the problem, is at each power up, i must begin this operation.
