I find that several apps save pics in different directories. I would like to be able to consolidate all these images into a single directory that will be opened by the standard Gallery app. I have used a file manager to move .jpg and other files into the /DCIM/Camera directory, but the Gallery app does not show them. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a simple weather widget that will display the current temperature on my home screen in a small size, like the size of a single icon? Something like what's on the Multimedia screen would be great. I don't want future weather, radar or maps... just the current temperature.

I want to have multiple listviews in single activity. But only one listview should be displayed at one time. The listviews will be loaded dynamically. So, how can I fill all the four listviews at the same time and display only one.
If anyone knows the solution then please share it over here. I hope to get a quick response.

I would like to animate a view I have to appear like it was sliding off the screen to the left, and then sliding back to the screen from the right. I've set the duration of the first and the start Off set of the second as 1000, so the second should start right after the first ends. Instead I get their order reversed and I see my view sliding from right into the screen, and then sliding off the screen to the left. Reversing the animations order didn't do anything. Anyone got a clue why is this happening, and how can I do what I want?

Were looking into Android for writing a tablet based system. Part of the design is for the system to be as modular as possible. One aspect of this is to display any "STATUS" activities in a side view on the screen. It looks like I can use PackageManager queryIntentActivities() to find the activities that show status information. But, can I display these in a single view all at the same time (via a linear layout)? The activities would be installed in separate apk's (features). Can this be accomplished using ActivityGroup? Is this even allowed in Android? Everything I've read implies that Activities take the whole screen or float on top. This implies only one activity can be active at a time where as the design I'm thinking of uses the activities more like widgets.

Is it possible to style a single, say, TextView in Android with multiple alternating styles, colors, and sizes? Think inline HTML or CSS but in the Android world. As an extreme, to demonstrate the point, let's say I wanted to have a word "CIRCUS" with each letter a being different color. Do I have to create 6 TextViews for this or can this be done in one?

I was using for sometime now OpenGL initialization code from Api demos and it was quite hard to exchange events between View and Renderer. So, I read pieces of documentation from GLES, EGL from jsr239 and finally made the single threaded GL initialization code which is much simpler than in ApiDemos. Here it is:
import javax.microedition.khronos.egl.EGL10; import javax.microedition.khronos.egl.EGLConfig; import javax.microedition.khronos.egl.EGLContext; import javax.microedition.khronos.egl.EGLDisplay; import javax.microedition.khronos.egl.EGLSurface; import javax.microedition.khronos.opengles.GL10;
import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.os.Handler; import.................

I have a question regarding 9 patch images. Is it possible to download 9 patch png files from a webserver then display it as a background of a layout while keeping the information inside the file like the stretchable pixel? I have tried using a 9 patch image coming from the resource drawable directory of my project and it displays correctly...stretching only those pixels marked as stretchable but when I tried to download a 9 patch image from my web server then the application will use the downloaded 9 patch image the stretchable pixels does not take effect..i mean instead of stretching only those pixels that where marked as stretchable it stretched the whole image.

I want to write code to display the images only from a particular folder in sd card. e.g a folder named b'day(/sdcard/pictures/b'day). I have the following code, but it displays all the images in the sd card. What should I add/change in the following code to accomplish my objective.
private void displayGallery() { Uri uri = MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI;
String[] projection = { MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns._ID,
// The columns we want
MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.IMAGE_ID, MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.KIND };
String selection = MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.KIND + "=" + // Select only mini's MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.MINI_KIND;
mCursor = this.managedQuery(uri, projection, selection, null, null);
if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst();
ImageAdapter adapter = new ImageAdapter (mCursor, this);
Log.i(TAG, "displayGallery(), adapter = " + adapter.getCount());
mGallery.setAdapter(adapter); mGallery.setOnItemClickListener(this);
} }

I would be retrieving values from SQLite database and have to display it in a list view. So how should I pass the images out from the database into the list view (in fact, I only save the image uri in db). I am able to save and retrieve images individually and display it on the screen. But how do I pass a bitmap and display it in a list view.
