View 2 Replies1) Is there way to find if the Android "unlock pattern screen" is ON/ OFF thru programming? My Aim is to send some messages from my application to a server thru network only when the user had unlocked this password kind of screen (device).
2) Is there any Android/Java class to generically find (query) if certain application window is currently on top like question 1? In other words, any Windows manager class to get some info/enumerate windows that are currently being displayed/being in use.
I can't seem to UNcheck the box to disable the unlock pattern. Please tell me there's a way as I am now sick of having the draw the pattern.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to detect when a user unlocks the phone? I know about ACTION_SCREEN_ON and ACTION_SCREEN_OFF, but these seem to be fired when the screen switches on/off on pressing the power button, but not actually when the phone gets unlocked on pressing the Menu button...
View 2 Replies View Relatedit's easy enough to turn on the unlock pattern security feature and it was fun to give it a try but now I'm just wondering - is there any way to turn it off?? I've tried searching and even in the user guide it says nothing about being able to disable it. If anyone knows how to do this/whether it is possible please let me know - only because I'm finding it kind of annoying now!

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo why can't I use that as a clock widget for my home screen! I mean, it's so nice. The font, the spacing, the size, the position. I'd love that to be my normal home screen clock, so are our free options really limited to either the real estate killing, non-customizable HTC clocks, or the hackney attempts at clock widgets from the market. I know Beautiful Widgets is a pretty popular app to download for this, I guess I'm just looking for a free alternative.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I went to the verizon store today and found out that I can upgrade to the Droid X ( was debating between droid 2 or X and still am confused). But upon checkout my card wouldn't work, it kept getting errors after manually entering and swiping it, so I'm going to head back this week with cash instead. *But anyways, I tried playing around with it a little and searched the phone for different unlock screens, couldn't find any. My questions is - Does the Droid x (even droid 2) have the lock screen where you get the grid and can make your own pattern to unlock? Like the lock screen for the G1 I used to have.

I couldn't find anything to do with lock screens while messing with it in store, but maybe I was looking in the wrong spot.
I read that if you forget your pattern for the unlock screen you're supposed to hit the Forgot Pattern button but I don't have one! I made a really simple pattern so I won't forget it but still, that's a pretty huge feature so I don't need to do a hard reset if anything happens. Does anyone else have this issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst of all this is minor Bug, but still - BUG! There is phone configuration description:
Phone: Xperia X10i
FW: android 2.1
patterns - default slider + unlock pattern
Bug description
1) When phone is locked, press home or power button.
2) move slider, to be able to draw pattern.
3) Start to draw pattern and wait till screen goes black (do not remove your finger). So your pattern is not finished and screen has gone black. Try to remember place of the finger.
4) Press home or power button again.
5) Finish unlock pattern from place you was, when screen turned black.
6) Your phone is unlocked!
So, if you did not finished your pattern and your screen have gone black you might think, that the phone locked, but this is not true. Your Phone can be Quite Easily unlocked in the Pocket.
I have had my Droid for almost a month now and i love it,,, but there are a couple of really annoying things that it does, and i was wondering if it was just me, or if anyone else has these problems too...
I will hit the unlock button on the top and start to do my pattern, and all the sudden, it says that i lifted my finger... and takes two tries out....
I will hit the unlock button and start my pattern and the screen will shut off like there is no activity and i will have to hit the unlock button again, and start over.
Oh and how about this, tried both handcent and stock messaging app, i regularly have periods of long delay from both receiving and sending text messages, i will be sending one text and get a text sending overload message also.... then i will have periods of sending and receiving the exact same text 10-15 times in a row.... this happens all of the time and its extremely annoying....
This is for an EVO but i'm thinking maybe it'll be similar to other android phones. what i'd to set up is to have the phone require the 'dot unlock pattern' after it's been sitting for 5 minutes idle. when i set it up with AutoLock, whenever the screen turns off after 1 minute, it'll rqeuire me to do the slide down to unlock which i don't want.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've entered a wrong pattern too many times. The phone now asks for my gmail username and password. I tried to enter them, but it doesn't accept the credentials. They are certainly valid, I know because I logged in via web browser with the same name/pass and it works.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow many of you guys actually use the pattern lock or password before you can use the phone. I have been debating whether or not its a waste of my time b/c even if I get my phone stolen I'm not getting it back. My friends that use my phone can't go through my personal stuff b/c I have a file locker. Even if I did have the pattern lock did anybody create a way to hack it and unlock it like they did with the iPhone?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI want a countdowntimer to halt on a menu and also when the user goes from that menu to another activity. When the user comes back from that activity or when the menu is closed, the timer should still halt. However when the user went to the home screen and clicks on the icon again, I want the timer to restart. So my question is, is there a way to detect if the user has just opened your application, or if the user comes back from another activity or menu?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wanting to allow Pattern unlock to users with Android devices but not allow users to not set a secure unlock type.
Right now I've enforced password requirements but that only allows pin based unlocks not pattern or face.
Are there any options to enable other types of unlock without removing security requirements at all within Exchange 2010?
I recently got a HTC Hero and when I go to Settings->Security there is no option for Set Unlock Pattern.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSay that TaskA is currently in the foreground and my ActivityA is somewhere within its stack. Is there a way for ActivityA to get notified or detect when the user switches from TaskA to TaskB? As a use scenario, when the user launches my app, my ActivityA will always be the root Activity of the newly created Task. ActivityA will make use of Activities from other Apps, which will be pushed on the same Task. I would like to get notified when the user has switched to another application. In this case, onStop() in MyActivityA does not suffice as that will also get invoked if the user navigates to another screen within my app.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want this same behavior even when the app is in the foreground but user doesn't interact with the app for a long-time say 6-7 mins... View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if the user is using the application for the first time. I am using SharedPreferences, but I am not sure if I have the right logic. How can I set my isFirstLaunched boolean to true when the user first launches, and then immediately set to false after work has been done?
protected void onStart() {
super.onStart();
if(isFirstLaunch()){
populateDefaultQuotes();
//Save the preferences, isFirstLaunch will now be false
SharedPreferences settings = getSharedPreferences(Constants.PREFS_NAME, 0);....................
I would like to know if android has some kind of 'idle time broadcast message'. So for example if the user is currently using one activity of my application but haven't touched the screen or used any keyboard (and doesn't have the autolock at phone level or any screensaver) for a while, I would like to be informed (let's say after 60 seconds). I would like to avoid doing it manually (by tracking each user click, touch, activity changes...)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm writing an application and I have a feedback screen. When the user presses submit button, it takes him to the default email client and prefills the email address, subject etc. ("mailto:") When the user presses Send, my application appears and I thank the user for giving feedback. However, how can I tell if the user has pressed the Discard button and did not send the email?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to detect when a user taps anywhere in a view in my Android application. My code looks like this:
linearLayout = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.linearLayout); // main layout
// ...
linearLayout.setOnTouchListener(this);
// ...
public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
Toast.makeText(this, "Touch!", 1000);
if (event.getAction() == MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN) {
Toast.makeText(this, "Down!", 1000);
return true;
}
return false;
}
but when I click on the view, I don't get Toast! Do touch events work in the emulator -- or have I got something wrong in my code?
I'm currently working on a project which requires the detection of user state (walking, running, driving), I've looked through some of the existing solutions on Android platform such as pedometer or calculating velocity with given acceleration, but I'm still unsure how I can approach this problem. Is there a way to accomplish this without much of data mining/signal processing? How can I solve this with simple logic? Or is this better solved with gps instead of accelerometer? The program will only need to return simple user-state descriptions like walking.
