Android :: Gmail Counter That Opens To Message List

Sep 24, 2010

I have been using 'Gmail Unread Count by Alexander Blom' with great success, but after the 2.2 upgrade, it no longer opens to the message list. The new behavior seems to be that it opens the most recent email and I have to go back a screen to get to the message list. I have tried the following Apps: Gmail Unread Counter SMS Unread Counter Although both of them display the unread count beautifully, they both open to the first message and not the messagel list. Any ideas of any other apps that will open to the message list and NOT the first message? Why this isn't a standard widget in android blows my mind.

Android :: Gmail Counter that opens to Message List

HTC Hero :: Gmail Counter - Unread Message

Jan 10, 2010

I opted to use the native Android (HTC?) imap client for my Gmail account simply because the widget shows me an unread message count. That aside however, the dedicated Google Gmail app is much better (it looks nicer imho and also has the "Archive" button - in the imap client I have to "Move to..."/"[Gmail]/All mail"). And the question: is there an way to have an unread email counter while using the Google gmail app? I would like something that will update as soon as the email is synced to my device, and decrement as soon as I archive an email in the google app.

Android :: SMS Text Message Counter?

Jan 6, 2010

Is there an Android app anywhere that will count how many SMS text messages I have used to date in a month? I have found a data counter which tells me the amount of data going through the phone via WiFi and the mobile network, but as these are both unlimited on my plan, it's no use. However I only get 300 minutes and 300 SMS messages each month included in my plan and would like to know where I am with those at any time.

Android :: Opens At The Oldest Thread Message

Aug 4, 2010

Not sure if this is a common problem, but essentially, in the bundled 'Messages' application for the HTC Legend, the text messages are saved as a thread as standard. But today, for some bizarre reason, when I open a message thread, it opens at the oldest message, whereas before, it would open at the most recent message. I've looked around in the settings, turned my phone on and off, cleared the data, but still can't get it to revert, it's quite annoying to scroll through hundreds of messages to get to the most recent SMS.

HTC Desire :: Gmail Unread Counter

Aug 16, 2010

My handset has recently developed a bug whereby my Gmail icon displays unread messages as normal, but even when I read them on the handset, the icon remains displaying them as unread? I click the icon to enter the gmail client, but it still displays all mail as read?If I then log in online to Gmail on a desktop, the same emails that I had read on my Desire are still unread... It seems the android app isn't telling gmail that the messages have been read?

HTC EVO 4G :: Opens Up Text Message Threads That I Didn't Tap

Jul 7, 2010

I've been finding that since the update, my phone opens up text message threads that I didn't tap. This mostly happens when I am going through menus quickly because I'm in a hurry. For example, I'll have one text thread open, hit the "back" button to go back to the list of all the threads, tap the thread at the top of the screen (or anywhere really), and it opens up an entirely different thread. It's not like it's opening the one right above or below it because I didn't tap accurately most of the time it opens up a thread that was so far down that it wasn't even shown on the screen. When I'm in a hurry I've sent texts to people that I didn't mean to send them to.This is really annoying.anyone else having this problem?

Android :: Way To Change Message List Size In K9 Mail?

Jan 9, 2010

I like using K9 Mail, but I was wondering if there was a way to change the size of the messages listed in the in box or any IMAP folder. 10-and-a-half messages (with the subject on one line and sender on another) are displayed on my Moment's screen. While I like seeing all of these messages, it is not very finger-friendly. It is difficult to tap precisely on a given message. Is there any way to increase the size of the message list? Something like the default Gmail or Android e-mail app would be great. I have dug through the preferences of K9, but so far haven't found anything other than being able to change the theme of the app.

Android :: Get My Contact List Working Without A Gmail Account?

Sep 2, 2010

I know this topic has already been discussed but I still need some clarification.I've never used an android but I'm planning to buy an Android device. Everything seemed smooth about it until I walked into a store a couple of weeks ago and started playing with an Expire X10 which was set up for testing...Since one of my major points of interest (actually THE major point of interest) in a phone is PIM and contacts I tried adding a new contact and I was very surprised to see that the phone was asking me to enter my Gmail ID (or something like that...)Now, I don't have a Gmail account and neither am I planning to start one since I'm happy with my private email service; is it just outright impossible to get my contact list working without a gmail account? Or can something be done to use off-the-cloud contacts like a regular phone? The same goes also for the calendar app: can I use it offline without linking it to a google account? I understand that keeping my phone offline and off-the-cloud will make it a crippled phone, but I just can't afford any data plan. Does the majority of apps require a gmail account to work? If not, which ones do? And finally, am I gonna be able to read my emails on my phone even though I don't have a Gmail account?

Android :: Open A Particular Message / Conversation In Gmail App?

Aug 28, 2010

I am trying to programmatically open an individual email in the Gmail app on Android.

I know it can be done because the built-in notifications send you to a message when you click on them and there's an app on the market called Gmail Notifier which does it as well.

What I've tried so far:

-send an ACTION_VIEW intent with the message URI as data (failed - cannot resolve URI)

-send an intent to open HtmlConversationActivity in the Gmail package (failed - "requires permission: null")

Would it help to add flags or a category to the intent? If so, which one(s)?

I know that the Gmail app is not well-documented, but it drives me mad that there is definitely a way to do it and I just can't figure it out!

P.S.: This is the first time I'm posting on stackoverflow, so I apologise in advance if I have ignored any conventions.

Android :: Spam Message Send To Everyone On Google Voice Contact List

Nov 28, 2010

On my new Android phone I setup my Google Voice number and set it as my primary number to use on the phone. I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding
an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM
with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -

Dear, I have tried to purchase some products from a business company, I have attracted by high quality products, low price and enthusiastic services, I think if you are free, you can go to see: styleele.com, picking your interesting <<followed by a link here>>
I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
