Is there any way to send an email to a mailing list i made on my gmail account on my PC? i have sync enabled and everything, but when i type in the group name nothing comes up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this topic has already been discussed but I still need some clarification.I've never used an android but I'm planning to buy an Android device. Everything seemed smooth about it until I walked into a store a couple of weeks ago and started playing with an Expire X10 which was set up for testing...Since one of my major points of interest (actually THE major point of interest) in a phone is PIM and contacts I tried adding a new contact and I was very surprised to see that the phone was asking me to enter my Gmail ID (or something like that...)Now, I don't have a Gmail account and neither am I planning to start one since I'm happy with my private email service; is it just outright impossible to get my contact list working without a gmail account? Or can something be done to use off-the-cloud contacts like a regular phone? The same goes also for the calendar app: can I use it offline without linking it to a google account? I understand that keeping my phone offline and off-the-cloud will make it a crippled phone, but I just can't afford any data plan. Does the majority of apps require a gmail account to work? If not, which ones do? And finally, am I gonna be able to read my emails on my phone even though I don't have a Gmail account?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI have been using 'Gmail Unread Count by Alexander Blom' with great success, but after the 2.2 upgrade, it no longer opens to the message list. The new behavior seems to be that it opens the most recent email and I have to go back a screen to get to the message list. I have tried the following Apps: Gmail Unread Counter SMS Unread Counter Although both of them display the unread count beautifully, they both open to the first message and not the messagel list. Any ideas of any other apps that will open to the message list and NOT the first message?Why this isn't a standard widget in android blows my mind.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently if I add/modify a contact in gmail it will sync without issue to my phone But if I happen to add a contact onto my phone or change something on my phone, that contact is not being synced to my gmail contacts (it stays on the phone, just doesn't go into gmail as well). Thoughts? I currently only sync 'My Contacts' from gmail to my phone not sure if this matters or not. I don't see an option to sync the other way as I did when using Google Sync on my blackberry.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhy my S4 is deleting all my contacts from it. I have my contacts synced with my gmail contacts and this has been the case for years. I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a multiple selection list where the selection is represented graphically rather than with checkboxes.My list has checkboxes, but I want them to serve a different purpose. I'm using a cursor to hold my data and created a custom view binder for the SimpleCursorAdapter. I did this for the checkboxes and general flexibility.So far I haven't even been able to show one line as being selected. I've enabled multiple selection on the list and denied the children of the list item focusability. I've tried manually changing background color with the position fed in through the list item click listener. But the wrong items get changed and they don't even change to the right color. I've enabled touch focusability with no improvement either.Ideally, I'd like the trackball highlight focus bar to appear in multiple places. But I don't think this is possible unless you use the drawable directly. But I don't know how to find or apply it. My next idea was to have a slim view bar that changes color. But I had the same problem with the wrong item being selected so I never finished trying to guess the index position to see if this would work. My most recent idea is to completely swap out the view for another one if it's selected. But I have no idea how to do this either. I'm thinking of using an array list to store the _id s of the items that need a different view to get around the wierd selection problem. I'm also thinking of passing in the ID field as my from and the selection view as the to for my adapter. Then I'd intercept it with my binder and change the view accordingly. But once again, I'm not sure how to do this successfuly.

You have a big description, a list of a few lazily loaded comments, and then some individual items that do different things, like visit the developer's web page, call them, etc. And then in between them all, are nice section headers.Emulating this approach seems to be extremely hard. I've read enough SO answers and mailing list posts to know not to put a ListView inside of a ScrollView, but I want the same effect without using addHeader() and addFooter() with very complex header and footer views. I've tried using a LinearLayout that I stock with views myself, but I can't get the pleasant click effects that default list items have (the orange background, white for long-click, etc.).

I'm noticing some weird behavior when I override isEnabled in my list's adapter and then try to use the D-pad to move up and down through the list and to my tabs.If the 0th item of the list is enabled, then everything works as expected - I can move down through the list, and then up again and once I reach the top of the list, pressing up moves focus to my tab.However, if the 0th item is DISABLED (isEnabled in my adapter returns false), then when I press up while position 1 is focused, the focus gets stuck. It doesn't move up to the tab as I would have expected and instead stays on position 1 of the list.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that Gmail is taking a little bit longer to sync, if it syncs at all. I have had to use the manual refresh in my Gmail app to populate mail most of the day today.I have run some tests, and it appears that Gmail will sync in random amounts of time. Sometimes 5-10 minutes, sometimes more than 15 minutes. Up until yesterday, it was almost instantaneous.When I send mail, or change labels, or delete mail on my Droid, the changes are noticed on my Gmail account within a minute or just like normal. It appears to only be a problem with fetching new mails.I have cleared the Gmail app cache, I have turned off sync - rebooted my phone - turned sync on again everything I can think of.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've got a Sprint Hero and when I try to send a 1MB photo, it basically freezes up my Gmail on my smartphone. Is that normal? I've tried to do it a few times, but it just says "sending" for longer than 10 minutes. It even sort of crashes my phone by hogging all the data and not letting me surf the internet or sync with Remember the Milk and other data reliant apps.I hate this Sprint Hero, by the way (unrooted, running OS 2.1). It's a genuine POS.It's so laggy (takes literally 10 F'n seconds to call someone after I dial the number).I've honestly almost smashed it on the ground twice it's so laggy.When I'm in a hurry, I can't stand it's lagginess.It's amazing to me this phone was released to the public with such an egregious lag time on almost everything I do (most noticeably the phone, which is simple compared to other apps).

This has been so frustrating since I purchased the Droid, and a quick google search showed that this is a problem many have but google was not exactly rushing to fix!
Issue 4190 - android - Gmail Notifications Bug?Project Hosting on Google Code.I stumbled upon Gmail Notifier (free) in the android market a couple of days ago, and it fixes the problem! Plus, it has has multi-account support and custom options regarding LED color, vibration length, etc. And it does not run in the background, so no decreased battery life, etc.The original version did not have support for multiple accounts, but I sent a quick email to the Dev and he fixed it in the new update that came today!I'm using it in conjunction with Gmail Unread Count widgets, and finally the email on my Droid is up to par with (well, actually better than) my old blackberry!

I already installed the drivers of my phone to my computer, when i plugged the cable i enable USB DEBUGGING.
After that i checked device manager and my phone is listed under Android Phone
After that i go the console and type adb devices it starts the server and returns an empty list
I tried everything. I also try kill-server and start-server still the same.
I am on Android 2.1 and I have one multi column Custom listview Using BaseAdapter with an editable edittext at the end of the listview. If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).

With Android, that seems to have changed; - Corporate Exchange - no problem, invites come in, i can accept - Personal domain (.com) w.email, i cannot accept invites/requests to be registered to the phone calendar - Gmail email - also, no go. not even to the gmail calendar. Is the any app, eventually free app, that lets me accept invites/requests sent to my personal .com email? And, if anyone knows...how does Gmail handle the invites via gmail calendar?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAn application I'm developing requires that the app main a local list of things, let's say books, in a local "library." Users can access their local library of books and search for books using a remote web service. The app will be aware of other users of the app through this web service, and users can browse other users' lists of books in their library. Each book is identified by a unique bookId (represented as an int). When viewing books returned through a search result or when viewing another user's book library, the individual list row cells need to visually represent if the book is in the user's local library or not. A user can have at most 5,000 books in the library, stored in SQLite on the device (and synchronized with the remote web service). My question is, to determine if the book shown in the list row is in the user's library, would it be better to directly ask SQLite (via SELECT COUNT(*)...) or to maintain, in-memory, a List or int[] array of some sort containing the unique bookIds.
So, on each row display do I query SQLite or check if the List or int[] array contains the unique bookId? Because the user can have at most 5,000 books, each bookId occupies 4 bytes so at most this would use ~ 20kB. In thinking about this, and in typing this out, it seems obvious to me that it would be far better for performance if I maintained a list or int[] array of in-library bookIds vs. querying SQLite (the only caveat to maintaining an int[] array is that if books are added or removed I'll need to grow or shrink the array by hand, so with this option I'll most likely use an ArrayList or Vector, though I'm not sure of the additional memory overhead of using Integer objects as opposed to primitives).
I'm just wondering whether anyone knows whether the gmail app included on the phone is going to be upgraded any time soon. It seems a little weird that the app is missing features that gmail mobile has (like colors for the labels, or the ability to select and manipulate multiple emails at the same time). Am I missing something, or is the gmail app as bad as I think it is?
