Android : Getting the Contents of a Specific Directory on the SDCard

Connected Android Phone To PC Via USB - Getting Directory Contents

Dec 3, 2011

I connected my android phone to my PC via USB cable and created a folder and file at "F:/Android/mymusic/so_happy.mp3". What I am trying to with my program on the phone is to list the contents of "F:/Android/mymusic/" (however that is represented on the device, I think it is something like /mnt/sdcard/Android/mymusic/ but that is not working). So far I am not getting anywhere. A listing of my code is posted below. Basically what it does is checks the directory for file contents, stores it in an arraylist of strings, and then is added to a spinner. So far, files is always null and "song0" and "song1" just get added to the spinner. What I want is to see "so_happy.mp3" there instead.

Code:
public class AndroidSimpleMusicPlayerActivity extends Activity
{
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState)

[Code] ......

Android :: Possible To Encrypt Sdcard And Its Contents?

Jul 13, 2010

Security is top priority for me, i realise there are apps out there that can remote wipe lock etc, but if the thief is quick enough to take out the sdcard and put it in another phone the sdcards contents can still be accessed can't it?
So i would like to know if there is anyway to encrypt or protect the sdcard and the contents within it?

HTC Desire :: Phone Or Reader To View And Access Contents Of Sdcard?

Aug 6, 2010

I know there are already alot of apps to protect the phones and its contents BUT is there anything stopping a thief from simply taking out the sdcard and putting it in another phone or reader to view and access the contents of the sdcard? If you plan on storing personal info on the card, whether it'd be photos / files etc It would be really good to know that even if the sdcard is taken they still cannot access the info. I would've thought this is a pretty common request. something like trycrypt or storage crypt for the microsd card would be really good.

Then tried to look into my sdcard directory, and it says "empty."

Android :: Mkdirs Returns False For Directory On Sd Card While The Parent Directory Is Writable

Oct 31, 2010

At some points while running my android application, I need to create a directory on the sd card, for a small number of users this fails and I can't figure out the reason for it... (I've found similar problems caused by the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission missing, it's there and it works for almost all users so I don't think this is reason) When mkdirs returns false I crash the program and log the following java.io.File properties, starting at the directory I want to create, then recursive printing properties of the parent directory and so on...

/sdcard/MyDirectory/Dir1/Dir2 (exists: false, canWrite: false, isDirectory: false, isFile: false);
/sdcard/MyDirectory/Dir1 (exists: true, canWrite: true, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
/sdcard/MyDirectory (exists: true, canWrite: true, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
/sdcard (exists: true, canWrite: true, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
/ (exists: true, canWrite: false, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);

The strange thing is that the parent directory is writable (canWrite=true), I can't print the execute file permission but from what I've read, write is what you need when creating directories... What I've looked at so far is the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission, if the sd card is full and if the sdcard is mounted read only:...........................

Android :: Why Doesn't Droid Directory Match To Computer Directory

Dec 23, 2009

I have an app that instructed me to copy some data from my computer to the SDCard. So I plugged the Droid into the computer, mounted my Droid SDCard, looked at the directory, and copied the file. There are a bunch of files and folders listed (e.g. backups for apps, album artwork, etc.) as being on the SDCard. But when I go into Astro on the Droid and select "SDCARD" it shows "directory is empty." I don't get it. Why can't I see the folders and files on the SDCard that I can see on the computer screen?

I was wondering if I just backed up all my stuff from my sdcard to my iMac and then just reformatted my sdcard via the phone, would that solve my problems?
