View 2 RepliesAccording to what I've read (and the warnings you get during installation), the Google Finance app is supposed to pull your portfolio down from the web version of Google Finance. I have my gmail setup (and it works) and my portfolio is under that same username. Nothing gets pulled down though. Any ideas why? I uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing. I just get a screen under portfolios that lets me add stocks by clicking a button.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone has found a way to add the major world wide indexes to the Google Finance App? As an example, if I try to add the FTSE100 (.FTSE) to my portfolio, it will show up on the website in my mobile portfolio, but will not show up with my other quotes on the Android App. I know its syncing because it says the portfolio was updated every time I open it. I suppose I could add an ADR, but that does me know good because I want to evaluate the markets from my phone before our markets open. Worse case I will just go to the website, but thats besides the point.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor those who applied to get your payout limit removed, Google Finance required personal information (like SSN) with the understanding that they "may" be performing routine credit history verifications. Does this concern you? I understand each credit check run on you by any institution (bank, mortgage, etc) lowers your credit score. I can't understand how (or why) Google finance needs to do this. Also, does anyone know how often they do these credit checks?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to do two things within my Android app: Check if the Google Finance app is installed on the device. Should be pretty straight forward, isn't it ? If yes, launch an intent to Open up Google Finance, displaying a graph on a particular Stock. So I also need to pass the stock ticker to Google Finance in some way... but is this even possible? Any other alternative I could use to display Stock Charts (let's say a 5 days intraday chart) on any stock?
View 2 Replies View RelatedA few months ago Google sent top market developers a feww phone (Droid or Nexus).I was one of them and received a Droid.I just now called in to activate the Droid on my Verizon account and was told that it is not activated. They said that the ESN number is tied to a business account and currently active.Verizon said the only thing I can do is to contact Google, who sent me the phone, and work it out with them. The paperwork with the phone came with no numbers or email addresses.I have tried calling the Nexus support line, they could not direct me anywhere. I have tried emailing the automated robots that sent me emails about the phone. Is there anyone at Google that I can contact that would be able to help with this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been reading the Terms of Service for the Google APIs, both Maps and AJAX APIs. I have questions regarding future consequences of using these APIs in mobile apps that get distributed, hopefully, to many thousands or millions of devices.
Both say that the services must be available for free, so I'm assuming that means you cannot charge a fee for an Android app that uses these services, unless you arrange something special with Google. Which appears to be Google Maps API Premier, an advanced service that uses a page-view-counter-based calculation to determine charges, and is not cheap. Which pretty much says you'd need to charge a subscription fee if you're going to charge at all. If you don't charge now and suddenly get hit with a bill from Google, your free app must remain free (according to Android Terms) so you're out of luck? I suppose it might be possible to include a Terms of Service with the application that says the user assumes all responsibility for any charges related to use of the Google APIs, but that doesn't seem likely to succeed. I think it would be difficult to manage. I also suppose that you could ask Google to block requests that use your API key until you can get a new version out with a fee attached.
Google also says they could charge for the use of the API in the future. This is stated specifically in the AJAX APIs doc, and indirectly in the Maps doc (Google can change the terms at any time). Since the API key that is used when calling APIs belongs to the Android developer, that tells me we could potentially be on the hook for Google charges. The Terms say that we can decide to stop using the APIs. Which is fairly easy when you're running a web site, much different when your application is deployed to thousands or millions of devices. Especially if you've distributed the application for free, and with an expiration date as required of later than October 22, 2033.
I'm nervous now about using Google APIs in Android apps and wondered if anyone else has thought about this. Should Google APIs be avoided? At least until developers have some legal protection?
I'm a new VZ Samsung Fascinate user. I got the phone 4 days ago.
I have noticed that my bars are never full. I even compared it with my friend's Nexus One w/ her T-Mobile service and she had 3 bars when I only had 1.
I constantly get zero or 1 and occasionally 2 if lucky. I thought I was in a bad service area but I'm sitting at home where I had full bars before getting this one - same Verizon.
What could be the cause? Do I need to take it to VZ store (I got the phone from BestBuy) and have them take a look?
My apps - Facebook/Twitter/Google Finance/Etc are all slow and often fail because of low connectivity. It's really annoying and I'm not getting full 3G impact on my phone for $30 that I'm paying!
Is there any certification for android developers provided by Google? please let me know this . I want to do that certification.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a Captivate and I have a Vibrant. She does all the bills and uses mooLa! to keep a running tab on our acct balances since our bank's site is REALLY unreliable. We are looking for an app that is exactly like moola, but syncs between or phones so if I spend money, it will show up in her app and if she spends money, it will show up in mine. Any type of solution would work if we had a way to sync moola, that would be awesome if there's another app like it that syncs, that would work too get creative!

View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently I use the desktop app quicken to track all my expenses. More and more I'm relying on my android phone to do my daily tasks. I have been searching and reading for weeks now trying to find an app that suits my needs and so far I haven't come up with what I need. Many come close but so far none can provide all three of my requirements. So, does any one of you l33t android users know of an app that can meet these three requirements?
(1) Must be stand alone - If it can sync with a desktop app like quicken for example, that's great but it shouldn't rely on that to function.
(2) Supports downloading bank data directly - My bank (USAA) supports just about every connection method. Every app I have tried for every phone that has this feature has been able to connect to USAA and retrieve my transactions without issue. Downloading to a file and importing manually is not an option.
(3) Must support recurring / scheduled transactions - I want to be able to plug in my monthly recurring bills and have some way of viewing my future balance as the bills hit. Quicken does this with a bar graph and a calender. Either one would work. The biggie (Mint.com) is great but doesn't support the third requirement even though hundreds of people have posted, asking for this feature (guess no one is listening or acting on it). Quicken doesn't have a mobile app. Splash money doesn't have an Android version. Ascendo Money doesn't have an android version. Seems like everything I have found is 2 out of 3.. I don't see how my list of 3 is asking that much?
My portfolio on Google Finance has a lot of companies in it (from NYSE to ASX - Australia Stock Exchange). But when viewed on my G1, I don't see all the companies. All are there except the ASX ones are hidden.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my Galaxy Note 2 replaced under insurance. I am trying to get functionality back that I had before.
I used to be able to say something like: "Remind me to call so-and-so tomorrow at 1pm".
And it would work flawlessly and alert me at that time. How I get this functionality back.
Does it have something to do with Samsung's calendar app? It works find for alarms, but it also used to utilize the calendar.
I'm running a Galaxy Note with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, unlocked. I got it three weeks ago, and not once have I managed to get Google Talk to log in... except when I'm using wifi. On wifi, it's totally fine. But try to use it on the data connection, and it just refuses to log in. No errors, no explanations... it just goes grey and nothing will happen. I use Google Talk constantly -- it's really making me regret giving up my old T9 Nokia, because at least that ran Google Talk properly. I'm tearing my hair out over it, and I can't find any support anywhere -- the product forums for Talk have been dead 18 months, the blogs for it even longer, there doesn't appear to be any support email address...
I don't really know what other useful information I can provide. There's no error message to describe. Every other app works perfectly fine over the data connection, including Trillian (connecting to the exact same Google Talk account) and Gmail. Never had a problem with anything else. I have tried removing that Google account from my own and re-adding it. I have tried force-stopping and disabling the Google Talk process and clearing its data (though the option to clear its cache is greyed out). Neither brings any chance. I've tried double-checking my APN settings; the only two I have are the currently-used one and the MMS one. I've called my service provider and asked if they maybe blocked any ports or anything; they haven't. I have made sure that Google Talk wasn't set to 'restrict background data' in the data manager; it wasn't.
What could cause this? What can I check?
Google Now starts itself whenever I connect my headset to my note 3. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
I've tried disabling google now but google voice search comes up instead.
Whenever I try to download any kind of app, as soon as it finishes downloading it says "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped". I have tried restarting but don't really know what to do from here because I just switched back to android after a nearly 5 year hiatus and so much has changed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with Note 3,
I wanted to change my gmail account of my phone, in order to do that I did a factory reset to start over. I was all cool until I wanted to update the apps, but Play Store "My Apps" page is blank taking forever to load.
My theory is, core apps lock themselves to first google account entered to the phone, and doesn't do that again no matter how much you reset the phone.
How do I use Google Maps app to calculate the driving time and distance from Chicago to Los Angeles? *ONLY* Chicago to Los Angeles.... not NYC-Chicago-LA
I can do this very easily using my Macbook Pro by firing up Google Maps in Chrome browser.(or any browser)
However, I just can't figure out how to do this using the Google Maps app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Sure, I can use use a browser to do this, but I want to do it inside the Google Maps app for Android.
I am running a cm10 based Rom on my note 2 and as such can't move apps to the sd card through the usual channels. I was able to get my play music cached songs to store on the external sd and any way to do the same for Google Play magazines as they take up more room.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for some fellow developers to build a few applications that work together to allow the android phone to take advantage of cheap telephony services provided over the internet. These are sms, voip, calling cards and similar such services.I have been investigating this quite a bit and developing an app to work with PennyTel but i have discovered an issue with the Android OS. Android is not designed to let you replace low level systems in your app and there for there is no way to capture out going sms etc. This means that to write an app that sends all out going sms via pennytel is impossible and that the only way around this is to write your own sms client like ChompSMS and i am sure this will apply to other parts of the phone as well. What i am looking to do is make a reusable system that uses intents to do things. A complete sms application that uses an intent to send the sms so that more sms providers can be added later, a dialer and outgoing call system that will fire an event for another app to make the call etc. What I want is sever apps that use intents not just to open their app but also to choose the outgoing their service uses. personally i want to write one of the outgoing paths and i am looking for some developers who would be interested in writing the more front end apps like the dialer and sms applications. If anyone is interested let me know as it is just too much work for one person and i am sure your apps will be used by many people as more and more people could right services they could be hooked into.
View 3 Replies View Relatedon my old phone (palm treo 755) i had a checkbook app that i used daily. i have tried several finance apps on the market, but none seem to do what i want. i have tried the following:
checkbook genius
easymoney
checkbook
dgmoney
with the old program i could create budgets, set up future payments/deposits, show & hide transactions from the transaction list (ie hide cleared items) and display acct balance on a specific day the apps i've tried so far do make decent checkbook registers, but i miss the flexibility of my old app. anyone know of or have experience with another app that could do all this? i have no problem paying for an app that does all this.
Are there any free (after 30day trials) apps for keeping track of bills, etc? Possibly with widget? Just looking for something simple, like 3 columns (name, amount, due).
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way of hiding specific app developers that you don't link on the market?
E.g. if one developer has made thousands of sound board apps or themes for an app that I won't be using - I could hide that developer and wouldn't see his/her apps on the market?
If this is possible, I think it would make the market much less annoying when you have to scroll through hundreds of sound boards and app themes.
This would be some excellent support for the faithful Android developers. I have eight apps but live in Canada so I haven't been permitted to post them on the Market yet. Still I'm hoping Google might take this into account for Canadian developers who can't yet meet the sales criteria. I applied anyway and hope Google will respond so I can begin mobile testing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf i place the Widet that covers up the whole screen called Stocks by Yahoo. Then click it to open it I can add a stock or index. However, right under that text it says *This service may result in additional charges from your wireless provider. It's Yahoo Finance Stocks which comes with the phone. Anyone know if it cost extra money to use? Also if I go into settings/wireless controls/mobile network settings/ data roaming (connect to data services when roaming) and check that does it cost extra money to use 3G when the phone is roaming? Do you guys have "enable always-on mobile" (uses more power on some mobile networks) checked?
