Android :: Running Tutorial Tab Widget Under SDK 1.5
Feb 1, 2010Does not compile. Indeed: even in 1.5, this api, getIntent(), is already listed as deprecated. The error message I get complains that getIntent() does not return a String, but setCurrentTab() expects a string. If I guess and change the line to read: tabHost.setCurrentTab(1); // was setCurrentTab(getIntent())", then it compiles, builds, but does not run. I get the "stopped unexpectedly" error message from the emulator. I cannot even get Log.d to output, so it seems that it stops 'unexpectedly' very early. So the first and main question is: what is the correct fix to "tabHost.setCurrentTab(getIntent())" in the final line of On Create() in http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html? The second and simpler question is: did I guess right in replacing 'mTabHost' with tabHost in the one place where that occurs?

Sep 3, 2010I have copied and pasted the code from the Form stuff example on this website. I am getting an error when i try and run the project, the project has a little red square with a white cross on it but when drilling down into the elements of the project (using eclipse) there is element with an error. In the problems tab of eclipse I have the following text

Unparsed aapt error(s)! Check the console for output. HelloFormStuff2 Unknown Android Packaging Problem
But there is nothing in the console!!

Apr 16, 2009I'm running Leopard. I create an avd without problem, but when I run it I get a bus error. I've tried to run the emulator both with and without adb running first. Eclipse (w/ ADT) is not yet running. Any ideas?

I run my tests from an extra project. And it seems there are some problems with loading the classes from the other project. I have run the tests before but now they are failing. The project under tests runs without problems.
Line 14 of the Helper Class is:
this.httpHelper = new HttpHelper(userProfile);
I start a HttpHelper class that is responsible for executing httpqueries. I think somehow this helper class is not available anymore, but I have no clue why.

HTC EVO 4G :: Activesync Error Occurred On Computer Running Exchange Server 2007
Jun 11, 2010Yesterday I noticed that my corporate email (i.e., Activesync) were no longer being synced to my HTC Evo (running Android 2.1). A little troubleshooting revealed the following: I could still send emails from the Evo via the synced account. My synced calendar and contacts continued to updated without error. I believe my company is running Exchange 2007, but I am not sure (and since the help desk does not officially support syncing to non-Blackberry phones, I doubt they will help me details or troubleshoot). In any case, a little Googling revealed that: This error is not specific to the HTC Evo (it happens on other Android phones).
A few folks reported that the error occurred seven days after Activesync was initially configured on their Android phone, and would reoccur approximately every seven days. In my situation, the only unusual item to note was that my mailbox had reached capacity on the Exchange server sometime during the period when my phone stopped syncing. However, freeing up space in my mailbox did not resolve the problem. In the end, I resolved the problem by deleting the Activesync account on the Evo and re-creating it. After doing that, all emails synced successfully.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Error Occurred On Computer Running Exchange Server
Oct 15, 2009I am having the following issue with Exchange. When I setup the phone initially, I was able to synch my email, contacts, and calendar just fine. However, I started noticing that my emails had a delayed vs my computer. My Hero was syncing only every 5 minutes or so (I do have selected the option to get emails as they arrive). Eventually, I went to settings, data synchronization, exchange activesync, and there is an error message that says 'Error occurred on the computer running the exchange server'.
It also seems that it hasn't synced the contacts and calendar in a while, apparently it stops after failing to sync email. The funny thing is that I am actually do getting new emails just not as they arrive, but as I said before, every 5 mins or so. Another thing is that If I click on Synch now. I do not get that error message and it syncs mail, contacts and calendar just fine, but again when it tries to do it on its own, the error message comes up again.

When I first created the Android application, I saw this error in the Eclipse console:

I commented out this line to fill in the few lines from the tutorial:

When I ran the app, it launched my emulator but all I saw was a vertical screen on the left that said "ANDROID" and phone buttons on the right. I did not see the "Hello, Android" text from the tutorial.

Android :: Map View Tutorial App On Emulator
Dec 23, 2009I'm trying to run the Android Hello Map View tutorial app on the Android emulator. The Google Map view displays, but the tiles are blank.
Judging by the errors below (taken from LogCat) the app is unable to connect to the internet. The web browser on the emulator connects without problems. I've also double-checked the API key.I'm using the 1.5 Google APIs SDK, from Eclipse Galileo, on Windows XP SP3, behind a corporate firewall. I've tried two methods to add proxy information:Add -http-proxy http://www.foo.co.uk:80 to Additional Emulator Command Line Options in the Target Page in Debug Configurations.
Remove settings in 1. and add proxy information at Home > Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
Neither seems to help. Any other ideas? Should I be adding proxy information within the app? If so, how? Sam Dutton, AMENDMENT: internet permission has been added to the manifest application element:

Apr 5, 2010I would like to make an navigation application, but I don't want to use an openSource, because I want my to be payable. I have some question, what would be great if you can give me some answers or tips where can I check them :
- If I set my Target marker on the map How can the application know what is the way ? Why not set the route across buildings, park,etc... how are the other navigation application knows where are the streets, corners ? So How can link the graph nodes to corners and How can the graph ways to be streets ?
- I would like to use OpenStreetMaps or Google Maps for the mapping. Are these know the Traffic rules ? For example One Way streets ?

When i run a 2.1 emulator and choose a live wallpaper it says: "No live wallpapers"

Feb 23, 2010I've been trying to implement the tab UI described in this tutorial: http://developer.android.com/intl/de/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html I follow all the steps described in the process but I keep getting a runtime exception which I believe has something to do with the fact that nowhere in the tutorial I added the extra activities (songs, artists and albums) related to the content of each tab into the android manifest file. Am I correct? is this tutorial (like many others) faulty or incomplete?
