So in my contact list I have no duplicates however when I go to select a contact to add to my favorites list there are dupes and even triplicates....any idea on how to fix? where are these dupes and triples at cause when i just go into contacts they dont show up

I think this is a Handcent issue because I'm not really seeing it in the default app. For some reason I get multiple numbers for a contact when sending a SMS- the same number! I have one contact that when I select to send an SMS to, I get 7 options to choose to send to, and guess what, all 7 are the same phone number. And its not a format issue, it still duplicates if the number has brackets over the area code or just dashes. Not sure what to do and when I go into the individual contact (using People) the number is only listed once.

I have tried to sync my contacts and FB together (not all of my FB contacts as I have 500+) but just the main people I talk to on a regular basis and it has created duplicate entries in my contact list. I know this not an operating hinderance to the phone but it is just annoying.
What is the point of syncing when it just created more entries? It also has duplicates in the drop down to: part when I create a new text message. Should I take all of my contacts off my SIM and copy them to the phone? Is there a way to have one entry for my contacts including the FB pic? I am importing my contacts from hotmail to gmail now and hoping this might help.
I was wondering if the X10 can do the same as my last android Hero, which basically link the facebook info contact to my related phone contact, including the picture. I guess this wont need any hardware, but software. Has this improvement being asked or is it planned for future updates?

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

There is no contact list, am I wrong? Because I have spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out where the contacts are on this thing and its just not there. By contacts I don't mean something complicated, I mean literally a button on or in the phone that will take me to a window which will allow me to enter a name and a number, and then will show me in alphabetical order, simple as that. Everything seemed smooth about it until I walked into a store a couple of weeks ago and started playing with an Expire X10 which was set up for testing...Since one of my major points of interest (actually THE major point of interest) in a phone is PIM and contacts I tried adding a new contact and I was very surprised to see that the phone was asking me to enter my Gmail ID (or something like that...)Now, I don't have a Gmail account and neither am I planning to start one since I'm happy with my private email service; is it just outright impossible to get my contact list working without a gmail account? Or can something be done to use off-the-cloud contacts like a regular phone? The same goes also for the calendar app: can I use it offline without linking it to a google account? I understand that keeping my phone offline and off-the-cloud will make it a crippled phone, but I just can't afford any data plan. Does the majority of apps require a gmail account to work? If not, which ones do? And finally, am I gonna be able to read my emails on my phone even though I don't have a Gmail account?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed Handcent on my Droid and am having two problems. I checked the settings and can't figure out why these things aren't working properly.
1. The pictures from my contact list do not show up next to the texts. Every one of my contacts has a silhouette and question mark in place of the picture - which shows up fine in the default messaging app.
2. When a new text comes in, the new text notification pops up on the taskbar. I do not receive a handcent notification icon, and if I open the text with Handcent, the default message notification does not disappear.

I have 500 plus names and numbers that have been transferred from outlook to the hero and they have come over in the same groups as in outlook but I need more than that. On my windows based palm top (that I am hoping to replace with the hero) I can search for either a persons name or the name of the company they work for.
About 400 of my contacts are work related and I might only use them once or twice a year and without being able to search for a company name I can not find them. It is further complicated because in a lot of cases a company name might have 3 or 4 different people under it. Does anyone know of a contacts app or upgrade that would give me the functionality that I am looking for?
When using the smart search function of the dialer or searching in contacts my Magic only searches numbers and names, not company names.I have hundreds of contacts that are just companies (airlines, couriers, etc. etc.) with no specific contacts at that company.Those contacts are effectively inaccessible on my phone now as the only way to find them is to scroll through the hundreds of blank contacts to find what I am looking for.When I synchronized contacts with my HTC magic, any contact with a company name, but nothing in the 'Name' field had the word 'unnamed' added to the name field.The only work around I can see is to use Outlook to manually add the company name to each of these contacts and then change the 'File As' field to read the company name.

I recently got the G1 and used my Gmail account online (via computer) to setup my contact list and then sync it to my G1. Now when I compose an SMS message, and begin typing the name of the person in my contact list, only some of the names that match will appear in the drop down auto-complete list but others that match don't show up at all. To compose SMS to them I have to use the Contacts>Scroll to contact>Select text to mobile method. Any ideas why some of the contacts do not show up in the auto-complete list when composing an SMS and typing in a partial name in the To field?

I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
My contacts are all sorted by first name. i cant seem to find how to change the sort order so the complete contact list is sorted by last name?
