Android :: Change Button Color On Focus And On Click
Oct 16, 2009
I am developing an application that has a button whose color should change green color on focusing on the button and the color of button should change to red on clicking the button. I am using setBackgroundResource() in the onClick and onLongClick listeners. Though it changes the button color, it also changes the button shape by making it look like a rectangle.
How can this be solved?
I have used the below code to do the same:
CODE:..............
How can i achieve the functionality with out changing the shape of the button? how this functionality can be achieved?

I loved the camera on the Eris and the Incredible, not only did they have a whole lot more of a crisp high-res detail, the auto-focus absolutely rocked. With my droid x, I can be getting a little artsy and focus on an object with the crosshair but it'll take me 20 tries to get it to lock on, its insane, I know I'm not getting too close to my subject because it will definitely eventually focus on that object if I try over and over and over again. It's not just close ups that I find myself and my buddy with this issue either. macro shooting mode does not help. My buddie's droid X has the same exact behaviors. Eris and incredible just LOCKED ON first try with even very low contrast / detail subjects, on top of that, have a ton better camera GUI when it comes to "click to focus". I know this thing ain't no SLR but, blows me away of how terrible the camera performance is vs. the HTC android based devices. Ihink motorola will fix this? I know this thing ain't no SLR but it just blows me away how the HTC android devices camera performance (except for video) blows the Droid X away.

I have been reading a lot of comments on how it is more lightweight to use views instead of intents in setContent when using tabs.
Since I will be creating an app with tabs, I am trying to implement this instead of having intents inside setContent. However, I am having a difficult time looking for examples or straightforward tutorials on swapping the current view with another one.
Say I have TAB_A, with some entry fields and a button. When the user clicks on the button, a TextView will display "Hello, user!" in the same TAB_A. Of course this is an oversimplified example, but it will surely point me in the right direction.
EDIT: I have a tab called TAB_A with a button in it. If the user clicks on that button, TAB_A will now display "Hello, user!" instead of the button.
Here is a sample of my TabSpec.
CODE:..............
Where ShowButton and ShowHello are classes both extending LinearLayout. Both are initialized in onCreate like this:
CODE:.............
When the app first starts, the user sees the view showButton. When the user clicks on the button, I want the tab to change its contents to showHello.
The question then is: Is there any way to update the contents of the tabspec without using startActivity?

I'm working on an android form with a radio group containing a set of radio buttons. From what I can tell there is no way to set the color a radio button highlights when you select it. It seems to always default to some bright green color. Is this something that is editable or no?

Why is this button changing color to orange when clicked: <Button android:background="@android:drawable/btn_plus" ...>
But this one is not? <Button android:background="@drawable/ic_btn_round_plus" ...>
Found another type of button (text and image) that changes color to orange when clicked
without having to create a selector: <Button android:text="List" android:drawableTop="@drawable/list" ...>

I have just started my career as an android programmer, and am currently relying heavily on the sample code and api examples. I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView). In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

I was wondering if its possible to block the onclick events on a layout and all the children inside the layout.
for example, I have a LinearLayout and inside that I have buttons and an editText. At a certain point I don't want the user to click on the buttons or edit the text. Is there a way to block that? Do I have to do it for each view? or I can do it for a Layout? What is the best way to do this?

I'm trying to detect the focus/pressed color for button and other elements. This is needed because I'm developing new components and it's important that those look as part of platform. Those colors are ORANGE on android sdk and GREEN on HTC SenseUI. If I could detect that color my component will look as part of platform on both version. Does anyone knows how to do this?
It's possible to create "selector" which uses custom image for default state and platform default for focus/selection. To do this follow the steps:...........................

I like being able to wake the phone to view the lock screen using the home button at the bottom of the phone, but is there any way to make it so that a second click of that button, or a click of one of the others down there, will make it sleep again? Having to press the power button up top is just an inconvenience.

I specified a selector drawable for the background of a layout as below, so when user clicks on the layout, the layout will have a different background. But, I didn't specify color selector for the TextViews in the layout, because there are many TextViews with different colors and I am too lazy to define color selector for them. So the text color keeps the same when the layout is clicked. My questions is, is there an automatic way to specify that the text color is highlighted/changed when the layout is clicked, so I don't have to define color selector for each of the TextViews in a layout?
