Android :: Change Button Shape To Oval Like One?
Nov 8, 2010I want to change my Button shape to an oval like button.

I want to change my Button shape to an oval like button.
Is it possible to change the default shape (i.e rectangular) of the button (normal button as well as imagebutton) to something else maybe like star or a triangle in Android?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a button on my app that I want to change the color of during different states of my application. However when I call btn.setBackgroundColor(Color.GREEN); the shape of the button changes. The rounded edges go away and I get a flat looking rectangle that is green. Is there a reason the shape is changing? Is there a a way to change the button color without the shape changing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am creating custom shapes for certain buttons but I want them to maintain the systems current color scheme. I thought that by not applying a gradient or color it would automagically take care of this for me but I am mistaken. By doing that I end up with a black button and black text. Any pointers?
Obligatory code...
I've a border set around a drawable using LinearLayout (bg: rounded rectangle).
The drawable and the border is used as a tab view. I'd like to change the border color of the tab when it is selected.
How can I do this?
Color state list doesn't seem to work as the view being selected is not the shape (i.e border) but the tab. Drawable state list doesn't seem to work either as I'm trying to swivel between views, not drawables. Moreover, I can't find any "onSelectedListener" of the sort...
I want to have a elmenent with a 2 color border outline. I can do a single color outline using the element, but this only allows me to draw a single line. I tried using 2 elements within my but that didnt work either. Is there a way to either draw a shape within a shape or draw 2 lines around my shape (which has rounded corners btw).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been reading a lot of comments on how it is more lightweight to use views instead of intents in setContent when using tabs.
Since I will be creating an app with tabs, I am trying to implement this instead of having intents inside setContent. However, I am having a difficult time looking for examples or straightforward tutorials on swapping the current view with another one.
Say I have TAB_A, with some entry fields and a button. When the user clicks on the button, a TextView will display "Hello, user!" in the same TAB_A. Of course this is an oversimplified example, but it will surely point me in the right direction.
EDIT: I have a tab called TAB_A with a button in it. If the user clicks on that button, TAB_A will now display "Hello, user!" instead of the button.
Here is a sample of my TabSpec.
CODE:..............
Where ShowButton and ShowHello are classes both extending LinearLayout. Both are initialized in onCreate like this:
CODE:.............
When the app first starts, the user sees the view showButton. When the user clicks on the button, I want the tab to change its contents to showHello.
The question then is: Is there any way to update the contents of the tabspec without using startActivity?
