Is it possible to write service that can catch any user's click on the touch screen and read text of the click no matter what application currently is active?
For example user click on browser or any other application and that service will know what word is written in the location of the screen.

I have an issue with identifying return to application after it was left using Home click. The main purpose of this is to define when do I have to display to user Type Password dialog. So, let's imaging such workflow, User works in application and decides to see what's the weather tomorrow. The User clicks Home button and is transfered to desktop. Now he goes back to My application. At this point we have to verify that our User is still the right one User by proposing him to type password. How can I identify this condition here? (returning after leaving by Home click)

The press the screen and the images switch randomly. I purchased the ebook "Professional Android Application Development" and have torn though it. I am stumped. I'm thoroughly confused at this point. On which, I am getting 3 times "Stop Application" msg box, which covers 3 previous screen and comes back to the first screen. I understand I must have encountered with Error may be IndexOutOfBoundException which I have not addressed it in my code. I was wondering why it asks for extra 3 times "Stop Application" system message. It is fine to display an "Stop Application" system message if I encountered an error in any screen it should stop that particular screen and should come to the next screen on. How can I trap/catch such incidents not to occur in the consecutive screen. If the above description is not clear at any place please let me know that I be more clear to you.

Which event is called when a user click on the disabled item? It's not onContextItemSelected nor onContextMenuClosed. But the menu is closed after the click.

The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of implementing a HTML welcome panel to our Android app, which presents news and offers on the start-up screen. My question is now, if I present an offer to a specific place (with an id string) can I trigger a callback from the WebView (maybe via Java Script) to the Android app and passing that id string to make it start a new Activity which loads and shows data from a server (JSON) depending on that id string?
The second part is already implemented and working. My main concern is how to get the id string from the HTML WebView back to the Android app when the user clicks on it.
We prefer to use a WebView for that specific welcome panel, because it gives us more flexibility to customize by using HTML.
In my app I draw an image covering the entire screen. I want to now how can I know where the user touched the screen?

Despite the catch, Im still getting a UnsatisfiedLinkError when I try to run this code with the library missing. Why am I not catching the exception? What am I doing wrong?
I'm making an Javascript web app and I can't for the life of me get the touchstart event to fire. I get the touchmove and touchend events no problem. This is a problem because as I see it the best way to distinguish between a tap and a scrolling motion is to zero a counter on the touchstart event, update it at touchmove and then compare it at touchend. I'm doing this so I can do some action at the end of tap but not a scroll. For instance, it would be very confusing if a page opened for an item in a listed after you finished scrolling down that list, but it would be nice to be able to tap on an item to open its page.
This is what I have..
I never see the touchstart alert. If I scroll the touchend will fire and app__touchMoving will have some sort of decent value. On a side note, I've noticed that sometimes the touchend will seem to fire multiple times.
Am I missing something basic here? Plenty of people say that this should work just fine on Android (and iPhone) yet the first listener never seems to fire.
Update: I should mention that I've been testing on a Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.1.
