View 3 RepliesI have, for the time being, a custom view with a 9-patch image as a border.
That custom view is placed three times in a LinearLayout, so it looks like this:
+------------------------+
CustomView
+------------------------+
CustomView
+------------------------+
CustomView
+------------------------+
I have attached a click event listener to the View, so it is clickable. But then I click it, I cant see that I am clicking it - there is no change in color.
So, Im thought that I'd attach a "onPress" listener, and then change the background of the view but I couldnt find such a listener.
So, the question is - how do I create the behaviour on the View so I can see that it is being pressed? this is normally done in Android with a green background to indicate that it is now being pressed.
I need to draw a child view containing a rectangle and button on top of the content view at particular location on the parent (content view). How can I do this? Did not find an explicit way to set origin of child view?

My application supports twitter and needs to open browser for OAuth. When the user clicks the Share on Twitter button, the main activity will create another subactivity (TwitterActivity) to handle twitter authentication issues. Here is a flow graph showing how activities are invoked currently. Main is short for MainActivity and Twit for Twitter Activity. startActivity() OAuth intent OAuth callback finish()Main ---------------> Twit ------------> Browser --------------> Twit --------> Browser As you may notice, after the TwitterActivity calls finish() to stop, it will now return back to MainActivity, but Browser instead. How can I make it return back to MainActivity?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I size a view based on the size of its parent layout. For example I have a relativelayout that fills the full screen, and I want a child view, say an imageview, to take up the whole height, and 1/2 the width? I've tried overriding all on onMeasu onLayout onSizeChanged etc and I couldn't get it working....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to do some cleanup in a view when the activity is being destroyed. Is there any way to get a callback in the View when the activity is being destroyed? I tried using onDetachedFromWindow, but I'm not sure whether it is correct thing to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn one of my Activities I have a ListView that displays a list of locations. For each list item I want a little arrow icon that points in the direction of the corresponding location. I implemented this icon by extending ImageView. This custom View has a listener that reacts to changes of the device's orientation by rotating the icon image accordingly. I register the listener in the onAttachedToWindow() method and unregister it in onDetachedFromWindow(). This kind of works but the problem is that onDetachedFromWindow() sometimes gets called only a long time after the containing Activity has paused. Also, the whole layout overall seems a little hacky. So my question is: Is there a proper way to unregister the listeners or would you implement this in a completely different way to begin with?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI basically have three activities X, Y, Z and I want only one instance of each but I want control over the navigation and I can't do that by putting all three activities in one task because of the stack structure.
Here is a scenario, from X I launch Y given a certain "id" which correspondence to specific data in the DB, Y inflates and populates it's views, then I go back to X and launch Y again with a different "id" in the intent, I don't want the overhead of launching the activity and inflating the views again, anyone know how to do this?
I tried using singleInstance, but the problem is that I can't send the result code back to an activity in a different task.
GridView is not behaving like it is supposed to.
This screenshot shows that the GridView (in landscape mode) is flushed left.
I want it centered. This is the XML layout for the GridView.

I have a custom Android view which overrides onTouchEvent(MotionEvent) to handle horizontal scrolling of content within the view. However, when the ScrollView in which this is contained scrolls vertically, the custom view stops receiving touch events. Ideally what I want is for the custom view to continue receiving events so it can handle its own horizontal scrolling, while the containing view hierarchy deals with vertical scrolling.
Is there any way to continue receiving those motion events on scroll? If not, is there any other way to get the touch events I need?
i want to trigger the onKeyDown listener programmatically but don't know which method i should call? Does anyone know?

I've tried intercepting the back button press but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if this is because it's not executing the code or I'm using the wrong command.

The docs say "The onStart() and onStop() methods can be called multiple times, as the activity alternates between being visible and hidden to the user"When I press the back button an it will go back to the previous activity which totally covers the old one. What is going on here?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSay you're surfing the web and are on a website like this forum. You then feel like checking a text message or making a call so you go ahead and do that.
How do you get back to the browser that is still running in the background and to the same website you were working on? I hope there's an easy answer and I'm just stupid.
I have installed Tasker and I'm new to using it. My favorite music player is Playerpro, but what I was wondering is what would i need to put in variables or actions, if I wanted to use the volume buttons to press skip or back while the screen is off and i'm using the app.I would use Gravity Box to do so but Cyanogen or any of its tweaks and mods are not compatible with the SM-G730v.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my htc desire s to the official 3.5 sense version and them to the endymion rom and both have something quite annoying in all browsers I have tried (dolphin, stock and boat browsers).
What happens is pressing back sends me to the top of a web page, meaning I have to press back twice to get to the previous page. It's not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.
well a couple of questions actually. So first is it possible to only view pictures taken by the camera when I press the review button in the camera app? for example, not only do the pictures I take come up but also pictures of wallpapers and other saved images located in different folders show up. I also wanted to know if it was possible to have the take picture button be moved to the hold button.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Whenever I am using any app and press the home button, the home screen blacks out for a few secs and it takes around 10 sec to get all the icons back and before I can start using my phone again. I am using a non rooted mytouch 3g.
This problem does not happen if I exit an app by pressing the back button. It becomes very annoying at times.
a friend of mine has set me up for a blind date next week.I am freaking terrified.I'm way, way, way more scared than anything I've ever done in my life and I've done some pretty hairy things in my day.Anyway, are there any apps that can make my cell phone ring with an extremely important call at a predetermined time?I'm looking for an escape hatch. It would need to fully simulate a call so it would need to ring and set off my caller ID so if they saw my phone, they could see that someone was really calling.I could fake the conversation of course.
