Android :: Applying Successive Animations To ImageView In Android

Apr 1, 2010

I would like to apply successive animations (say ScaleAnimation) to an ImageView showing a resource image. The animation is triggered by a button. For example, I would like to incrementally enlarge an image upon each button click.

I've set fillAfter="true" on the animation. However, all the animations start from the original state of the ImageView. It seems as if the ImageView resets its state and the animation is always the same, instead of starting from the final state of the previous animation.

Android :: Multiple Successive Queries To A Database

Apr 10, 2009

Has anyone other than me needed to make consecutive queries to a sqlitedatabase? My application works sometimes but other times (about 98% of the time), the app will crash. What I'm doing is using the sqlitedatabase.query(..) to return a cursor which I parse, I make multiple successive queries to the database and parse different recordsets/cursors.

My question would be does a sqlitedatabase need to recover or clean up after a .query is issued?

Android :: Applying Style To Textview

Jan 10, 2010

I am trying to apply common style to different textview that can be either defined in a layout xml file or programmatically and that does not seem to work for some attributes: My style in styles.xml is:

<style name="ListName"> <item name="android:colorForeground">#f0f</item> <item name="android:padding">4sp</item> <item name="android:textSize">30sp</item> <item name="android:textColor">#CCC</item> <item name="android:gravity">left</item> <item name="android:typeface">serif</item> <item name="android:textStyle">bold</item> <item name="android:colorBackground">#999</item> </style>

In my layout xml i have <TextView style="@style/ListName" ...></ TextView> and in my activity java class i have: TextView nametv = new TextView(this,null,R.style.ListName); However some parameters does not seem to work very well: - textStyle to bolditalic does not seems to be recognized - textColor/colorForeground/colorBackground does not work at all. I have been through the documentation, but could not find precise reference documentation for that attributes, nor sample for the color setting.

Android :: Preference Activity And Theme Not Applying

Apr 11, 2010

I have a problem in the Preferences Activity, in the main preferences the theme shows ok, but if I get to a sub preference, the theme gets messy, it is not white as it should, it is all dark, and the font is black so you can't see much, and when I start clicking on any items they will get sometimes white as they should but revert to black soon after. This is only happens on 2.1, in both the real device and emulator. Tested on the emulator running 1.6 and it was working correctly.

Android :: Applying Effects To Camera Viewfinder

Dec 11, 2009

One approach I've looked at is to use the preview callback, asking for a JPEG buffer. Unfortunately, the HTC phones I've tried this on all call back at several second intervals and give me an NV12 buffer regardless of the pixel format you specify. (Anyone know the behaviour on a droid?) I can code my way around the NV12 hassle but I can't exactly do much when the callbacks are so seldom; I want around 10 fps.

The approach I was considering was making an opencore codec for mjpeg. Which leads me to two questions before I start:

1) can third-parties make and install opencore codecs, or is this strictly locked down? Is it to just drop an .so in the right folder, or?

2) do the HTC phones use the default encoders? (i.e. will using the same way the default opencore reference codecs get their pixel buffers work on the phone?)

General :: Android 2.2 - Applying Animation To SurfaceView

Feb 17, 2012

I'm working on a puzzle game for Android 2.2, what I want to do is a simple fade-in fade-out of the whole game screen, during level changing. I tried with an AlphaAnimation from 1.0f to 0.0f and vice-versa, and it works perfectly if I start it from a View, but if I try to start it from the SurfaceView which I used to write my game engine nothing happens.

I put a completely black ImageView on top of my surfaceview, and applied the animation to this imageView. This is my layout

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="<not allowed to post external links...>"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"

Android :: Best Site For Rooting And Applying Custom ROMs?

Androidcommunity vs Androidforums vs XDA dev forums?

Which is better for instructions on rootings and applying custom ROMs?
Which is better for finding ROMs?
Which has more users?
Which has more experts?

Anyone familiar with the other site or one I may not know about can fill me in a bit? I seem to like this site the most but if there is more information elsewhere, I may need to pool my resources. I would prefer for android forums to be my 1 stop shop n go.

Android :: Run Instructions At End Of Six Animations Played Together

Nov 14, 2010

I need to run six animations simultaneously (each animation simulates a roll of dice, each dice is a custom text view) and at the end of those animations, I need to get back the number of each roll. As each animation changes the number of each dice five times (to simulate the roll), I want to wait that each animation has ended to calculate the sum of each roll. I tried to regroup in one the six animations (so that with an animation listener, I would have been able to wait the end of the animation) but I didn't manage it.

Android :: How Animations Work - Implemented

Jun 16, 2009

I've been looking around in the framework source and I can get my head around some things. For instance, in the ScrollView, the animated scrolling is done by using computeScroll(). To make the screen redraw (and thus call computeScroll() again), postInvalidate() is used. Why is that one used, instead of a regular invalidate-call?

Secondly, I wonder some things about the Animation framework. I know how a ViewGroup is responsible for animating the children (modifying the Canvas and so on), but what drives the animation, i.e. what makes the screen redraw over and over again? In the case of the ScrollView, it's the call to postInvalidate() made from computeScroll(), but what is it in the case of an Animation?

Android :: What Is The Starting Point For Animations

Jul 19, 2010

I am at a stage where I can understand and write a decent Android application. At this stage, I am still not comfortable with SurfaceHolder, Canvas, View invalidate() etc. I don't have a CS background so I must've missed these from a CS Graphics course or something.

Starting directly with Android seemed like a bad idea because there are not many examples out there. And sometimes I am getting things done, but I don't understand what the heck is going on. For instance, there are a few dangling observations. Calling invalidate() from within a view calls its onDraw method but from outside it doesn't do anything and I don't know why this is happening. I know SurfaceHolder can be a powerful thing but I don't know how to use it.

For an absolute beginner to be able to handle this stuff, what are the resources one should follow? Is it animation basics or screen rendering or something else altogether? I mean, it cannot be the case that Android guys invented these concepts right? They must be similar to something out there which has some tutorials already. My end goal is to put myself in a position where I can write some simple custom views that can animate themselves and use some basic physics to react to touch events.

Android :: Custom Animations For ViewAnimator - ViewFlipper

Sep 15, 2009

I am wondering how to use custom in/out animations for a ViewAnimator, such as the 3d flip animation in the ApiDemos. Details below in case you have the time to read.

The following methods:

animator.setInAnimation(AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this, R.anim.fade_in));

animator.setInAnimation(this, R.anim.fade_in);

Require that I use the animation as a XML resource but the documentation says the XML only takes "<alpha>, <scale>, <translate>, <rotate>, interpolator element, or <set>" as the root element. So it seems to indicate that you cannot use a custom animation as an XML resource?

I also tried:

animator.setInAnimation(new AlphaAnimation(0.0f, 1.0f));

Which doesn't seem to work (no animation happens just plain cut).
