Android :: AppWidget On Homescreen : Focus ImageView / TextView With Trackball?

Feb 6, 2010

I coded an AppWidget the user can add to his homescreen. There are a bunch of images (ImageView) in it that perform different actions like starting Activities on click (realised with PendingIntents). To make it easier to navigate through the AppWidget I'd like to use the trackball (as it works with the SearchWidget or FacebookWidget) but I just can't make it work. Here's my layout code for the AppWidget...

So I want to be able to navigate through a bunch of these "Spots" that are all relativeLayouts. How can I make that work out? I'd be really happy about every hint or idea!

Android :: AppWidget on Homescreen : Focus ImageView / TextView with trackball?

Android :: AppWidget Updating ImageView With Drawables?

Nov 7, 2010

I'm trying to create an appwidget with a customizable background. I use a NinePatchDrawable and I would like to change it's color (using the setColorFilter method). This is no problem in an Activity, but it does dot seem possible with the RemoteView object used for appwidgets.Is there some way to get an ImageView in an appwidget to be updated with a new Drawable, not a Bitmap?Or if not, perhaps it's possible to get the actual size of the appwidget and convert / save the colored NinePatchDrawable to a Bitmap and then update the ImageView with that?I already searched quite a bit for a solution, but haven't found anything so far. I hope it's not impossible.

Android :: TextView Always Loses Focus After Orientation Change / Is This Bug?

Jun 11, 2009

When changing screen orientation while running an Activity that has both a normal layout and a layout-land file defined (both of which contain a TextView), then that view loses its focus after being restored and a warning is issued on the log:

"Previously focused view reported id X during save, but can't be found during restore."

Is this a bug? I looked at the mID field of that view, and it's identical for both the portrait and the landscape layout.

Android :: Converting A TextView - Bitmap - ImageView - Nothing's Showing Up

Nov 12, 2010

I started a test project just to get this down. No changes to main.xml. I want to create a widget-sized ImageView (80x100) that contains a Bitmap converted from a TextView. Yes, that sounds very roundabout but this is just for testing; in the end I want the ImageView to have a background image and multiple TextViews. I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing wrong, but nothing is being pushed to the screen.

Is it a problem with declaring the TextView/ImageView and passing it "this" in the constructor? Is it a problem with my layoutParams? Here is the code:

package com.doaf.testproject;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.graphics.Bitmap;
import android.graphics.Canvas;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.widget.ImageView;
import android.widget.LinearLayout;
import android.widget.TextView; Code...
I'm relatively new to Android, and pretty lost with this one.

Motorola Droid X :: Auto Focus - Click To Focus

Aug 29, 2010

I loved the camera on the Eris and the Incredible, not only did they have a whole lot more of a crisp high-res detail, the auto-focus absolutely rocked. With my droid x, I can be getting a little artsy and focus on an object with the crosshair but it'll take me 20 tries to get it to lock on, its insane, I know I'm not getting too close to my subject because it will definitely eventually focus on that object if I try over and over and over again. It's not just close ups that I find myself and my buddy with this issue either. macro shooting mode does not help. My buddie's droid X has the same exact behaviors. Eris and incredible just LOCKED ON first try with even very low contrast / detail subjects, on top of that, have a ton better camera GUI when it comes to "click to focus". I know this thing ain't no SLR but, blows me away of how terrible the camera performance is vs. the HTC android based devices. Ihink motorola will fix this? I know this thing ain't no SLR but it just blows me away how the HTC android devices camera performance (except for video) blows the Droid X away.

Android :: Trying To Update An AppWidget Manually

Sep 7, 2010

I am trying to update an AppWidget manually when a user setting changes on the device.I can tell that my AppWidget onUpdate method is being called as a result since I log some debug strings to logcat in the code. However the AppWidget itself doesn't change on the screen.Here comes the interesting part: if I rotate my device and force a refresh of the home screen (from PORTRAIT to LANDSCAPE or vice-versa) then finally my AppWidget gets updated. However rotating the device does not trigger the onUpdate method to be called, so the AppWidget must be using the RemoteViews provided in the earlier update. Can somebody explain me what to do to force the home screen redraw of my AppWidget when it processes an update?
