Android :: Alarm Clock Won't Ring If Device Is Turned Off / Fix It
Jun 10, 2010
It looks like I am obliged to let my phone turned on to make it ring for the alarm clock. Am I right? At least, this is what seems to happen with Math Alarm Clock (I did not test yet with the built-in alarm clock).

Any way to make the alarm ring even when the phone is completely turned off. I had a problem with my phone that it couldn't charge when it was turned on, and I found out that it was the socket's problem. I got it fixed. But during this time, I had to use a very old Nokia as an alarm. Is there any way to make the alarm ring even when the phone is off?
I read a few similar threads, and some said no. But aren't there apps that schedule automatic power on and off? Some phones actually have this built-in. Is there an alarm clock app that has the feature to power the phone on and ring?
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy SII (i9100G) with CM11.

When I wakeup in the morning, I like to check my calendar to see what the day has in store for me. Of course, I'm often too tired to check and sometimes will go half the day before I see what's on it.Is there an alarm clock app that, after hitting the dismiss button, will open up a program of your choosing?

Tried to set an alarm on the default clock app on the Legend. To my surprise, it never went off when it was supposed to. When I tested it I was quite shocked to find that the built-in/default sounds wouldn't play. When it put I enabled the vibrate checkbox, it began to vibrate at the set time but there was no sound. So I downloaded an alarm app from the droid marketplace and it worked fine. Even the default Legend sounds were working in the app. When I went back to the built-in alarm, the sounds started playing normally. Not sure what could've caused this. Could it have something to do with the task-killer?

Are there any good alarm applications for the X10i?
Basically I use my phone as an alarm to get up for work. My old Nokia N96 I could set the alarm and then switch the phone off at night and the alarm would still go off on time. This does not seem to be the case with the X10i. It doesn't even go off when the phones in airplane mode which is poor. I just don't want to have to leave my phone on overnight in case it rings and i wake up.
Are there any good alarm apps that allows you to turn the phone off and the alarm would still ring at 6.30 for work?

I am overriding the functionalities of current android alarm clock. As of now, if we have set two alarm of ,say, 10:10 and 10:15, now if the first alarm pops up at 10:10, and we click on snooze button(snooze time: 10 mins), then it says that the snooze will not be set since there is already an alarm in between(the 10:15th one). Here i want to both the alarm(i.e, snoozed one and 10:15th one) to be set. Any ideas???

Just got the 2.1 update for my Moment. Have a problem. I leave my phone on at night on the charger. I get up way earlier then my wife. Now after the update - my text notification ringer goes off when I plug in and unplug the charger. I tried turning off the "Notification Ringtone" - and that worked to kill the charger plug/unplug sound - but it also turned off the ring when I get an incoming text. That just will not work - turning that on and off all the time. Is there a way to just disable the sound when the charger is plugged/unplugged?

I am am recent migrant from Blackberry. One of the nice things on the BB was that when you set the alarm, you can switch the BB off overnight and be sure that at the set alarm time, the BB wakes and the alarm goes off. The alarm on the HTC Desire does not seem to do that - i.e. when I turned it off overnight it did not wake when the alarm should have gone off. I tried a couple of other alarm apps and no luck. Is there an alarm app for my requirement? Or is this not possible with an Android phone?

1 year and a half with Android and I still didn't figured out the answer to that. Feature and dumb phones can do that, what stops a smartphone with Android doing that? LT26i

I've got a Nexus S phone with an amoled screen and I was wondering, is it possible to make it so that when the screen is turned off, a clock appears on the screen?
I remember some nokia phone that also had an amoled screen and that had a neat feature; whenever the screen was turned off, there was an always-on clock that'd show up, and since the clock was small and the rest of the screen stayed black, it didn't drain the battery.
I mean, that'd be a pretty cool thing to have on amoled android phones, no?

In the product demo for the HTC Hero, as soon as the home screen is shown, the clock animates flipping numbers to the correct time. I've fiddled with a few settings and I can't seem to get that to happen to my clock. Am I missing something or is something turned off?
Also, am I having major troubles switching the weather from Toronto to my current city. I've added the weather for my city and changed my location but when I go into weather and set Hamilton then hit home, it still shows Toronto. What am I missing?

When i plug my BB into the charger, it recognizes that its charging and automatically switches into "bedside mode" (changes my sound profile, displays the clock, and dims the screen way down). When I unplug my BB, it recognizes that its unplugged, switches out of bedside mode and switches back to my previous sound profile. Does android do this or is there an app that does something like it? I know it sounds lazy, but I'm just used to plugging it in, and the BB doing everything else. BTW, I really hate my BB and excited about the new Incredible.

New to Android 1.5 using one day.
Everything seems to work fine except on starting emulator takes forever then Message :
Application Alarm Clock (in process com.android.alarmclock) is not responding.
Tried setting clock for a time but still no go??
Figure the long emulator startup time is do to the alarm clock error.

I'm looking for one where I can set many different alarms (including multiple alarms per day). I would also like quite a bit of customization (things like tone length, volume, snooze, etc). I don't mind paying, but I want to make sure I have the best before I fork over for it.

I've read through the other suggested alarm threads but didn't find a solution. In my case the screen turns on but the alarm screen does not display nor does any alarm sound or vibration happen. I do not have a task manager installed and i verified via the QuickSettings app that the alarm volume is turned up. It has been many days since I had power cycled my phone.I tried setting a new alarm a few minutes from the current time and it did not activate at all same thing: no alarm screen, no sound or vibration.I power cycled my phone and setup a new alarm. This time it worked perfectly. Is Android killing the phone app at some point to free up memory? Do I need to activate the clock app before I go to bed to make sure its running? But what if it gets killed overnight--odds aren't likely as I won't be using it.

Im the developer of a fairly new app the Math Alarm Clock. A month ago I looked for alarm clock which was a challenge to turn off and didnt find any on the market so I developed this. Basically you tell it how hard you want the math (4 levels of difficulty) from (5*8) to [(17*19)- 16*12)]. It is smart enough to never give you stupid easy questions such as (73-73) or (1*10). Then choose how many in a row you must answer correctly from 1 to 6 to turn off the alarm. Specify a few math-free snoozes if you like to snooze a few times before entering math. Or turn the math off completely and use it as a regular alarm.
The other unique feature is the music alarm. Of the other alarm clocks I found one required you to change music into a ringtone and the other only allowed you to pick one song. This alarm clock allows you to choose an individual song or choose a random song from a specific artist or a random song from a specific album.
And for any Canadian Rogers Dream or Magic users you may have noticed other alarm clocks will completely crash your phone and require a factory reset. This has been fixed in the Math Alarm Clock and it should work with no problem on HTC based phones.
Lastly as the comments point out, I respond to feedback very fast and for the most part have requested features implemented within 24 hours.
The last few comments:
"This developer rocks! I requested a feature and it was added within hours. This is the best alarm clock for the G1 hands down!" 5/5
"Great app, developer is quick to update. Highly recommend!" 5/5
"Awesome app!" 5/5
"Amazing! The only alarm that actually wakes me up" 5/5
