View 2 RepliesIn J2ME, I've do this like that:
getClass().getResourceAsStream("/raw_resources.dat");
But in android, I always get null on this, why?
I'd like to access resources from other packages installed. Is there any better practice than using getResources() combined with createPackageContext()? Another question is how to use resources from other packages in methods like Notification(int icon, CharSequence tickerText, long when), where 1st argument is just resource id?

When we submit credentials to WebGate / Access Server the authorization succeeds, however after the authentication is performed, the form action (as configured in the Authentication Scheme - with passthrough:no) returns a server error instead of redirecting to the originally requested URL.
If we use Mini Opera, we are able to get authenticated and forwarded properly.
This problem happens on numerous Android phones (versions ranging from 1.5-2.2), as well as the Emulator provided with the SDK.
This is proving to be a real problem as the default browser on Android phones is not able to get access to our sites(and this is the only browser that is having this problem).
I have created a WebView-based custom browser with the hope of seeing a client-side error and tried trapping every possible error....none show up....
I have tried to trace all of the http requests and found only a single difference in the requests... the http header for Connection:keep- alive is not sent by the Android WebView.
I have provided some tracing info below...

I am experiencing a problem with accessing an application from the Android-browser. The application uses DWR to persist connections to the clients that are connected with it. Everything works fine for me, except that if the application does not send any data to the client on the Android-phone for 2 minutes, the connection seems to be lost and no data arrive at the client. The same scenario works just fine on Firefox, Opera and Chrome. If the pause between two data transfers is less than 2 minutes, it works just fine.
So, now my question: Is there some timeout setting for the android browser that I am missing? Or is this some built-in bug/feature/whatever that I cannot circumvent? I know that I could prevent this from happening with some sort of heartbeat, I would just like to why this is happening.
Is it possible to programmatically access the website that is currently displayed within the Android browser?
As far as I know the native Browser doesn't handle plugins (please correct me if I'm wrong), so I thought that reading the browser cache would be an option. Is there a more sophisticated way to get the currently displayed HTML?
I want to add,delete,update android Contact Database using native c code. please tell me how to do if any one have done it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know if it's possible to associate a protocol (for example: 'myapp') to a native application installed on a Blackberry (or Android) so that if a user types in 'myapp://xxx' in a web browser it calls the native application. In this case, how is it possible to achieve it? As far as I understood, it's possible to do it with iphone but I don't know if it's possible with blackberry or android.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my Android project, I want to loop through the entire collection of Drawable resources. Normally, you can only retrieve a specific resource via its ID using something like:
InputStream is = Resources.getSystem().openRawResource(resourceId)
However, I want to get all Drawable resources where I won't know their ID's beforehand. Is there a collection I can loop through or perhaps a way to get the list of resource ID's given the resources in my project?
Or, is there a way for me in Java to extract all property values from the R.drawable static class?
So sprint updated my phone to 2.2 and now when i try internet I get:The Application Internet (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [force close]Data works because I can do gmail, facebook, imdb, yelp, etc.. and they all work fine.Any clue how to fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for people's opinions on which browser they think is best for 2.2 and why.I've searched and mostly came up with older threads talking about browsers that let you view flash sites, obviously before FROYO.I've experienced a problem on a couple different sites, using the stock browser, where the webpage continuously reloads,so when I zoom in to read something,5 seconds later,the page reloads and it zooms back out.I've tried stopping the page and 5 seconds later,it still reloads. Very annoying, so I was going to try another browser and see what happens.Any thoughts or comments please?
View 26 Replies View RelatedI just got froyo and noticed when I kill the browser with my task killer it no longer defaults back to the home page when I open it again. Also, the history does not clear. It shows it as cleared, but since I can reopen the browser and scroll back to where I have been browsing it is not deleted.Bug, or something with my phone?Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this because a friend of mine said he was not.

View 16 Replies View RelatedEver since I got the Evo, I've been using Dolphin Browser HD -- the combination of tabbed browsing and great features make it an overall improvement over the HTC/Eclair browser.
Now that people are switching up to 2.2, are people switching back to stock for the much acclaimed speed improvements? Have people noticed significant differences between the new Froyo browser and Dolphin HD?
Which Browser do you think is the best with Froyo on Droid? Me personally it would have to be between default and Opera because speed is important to me.

View 15 Replies View RelatedHas the copy/search function been removed from the browser in froyo or did it never have it? When i copy in the browser, I only see the option to share or copy to the clipboard. I have the HTC mytouch slide 3g, running 2.1 and when I copy in that browser, I have the option to search but I don't see that with the Incredible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs it may be a little while before Froyo is available for the Incredible I wonder if it might be possible to port Froyo's browser with flash support to Android 2.1. Ah the things you dream up when stuck at work doing data entry all day.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI currently have a few classes that are called by an activity (some statically) in which I want to use a string resource. I tried: Resources.getSystem().getString(R.string.mystring), but am getting an error. It seems as though you can only use this within an activity.
Is there anyway to use a project resource in a standard (non Activity) class without having to pass the resource object from the activity calling the class?
I have an app with 2 Activities and an IntentService all which need to access the same SQLite Database table. What's an appropriate pattern to use?
Should I create a ContentProvider that manages access to the database, ie opening/closing, querying, updating etc. And have the 3 clients all access the DB via the ContentProvider?
Or is it OK for each client to access the DB directly? This is the approach I have now and it seems to be working, but I need to close my cursor and the DB after executing every statement or I start generating stacktraces in the log about unclosed DB resources. But closing the DB after each statement seems wasteful and I suspect that this approach will always be susceptible to the stacktraces because there is always the potential for collisions between either of the Activities and the IntentService.
I haven't been able to find any good resources that show DB usage in full. It always snippets that miss out the *obvious* piece such as when should the resources be closed etc.
Anyone was able to play a video included in the .apk? I'm able to play this video from the SD card but not when it's a resource.
