Jun 25, 2010I have a Moto Cliq and was wondering if anyone knew if you could plug a usb thumb drive into an Android device via cable (duh) and access the data from the thumb drive?

Aug 14, 2010I'm rooted. However when looking through the internal memory i don't see a good place to put several gigs of music. Where should iput it? When connected as usb drive, i have no access to system files to copy over my music to. What is the best way to copy the music? Copy to sd card the root explorer copy to internal is all i can think of. That would be incredibly slow.

2. Is internal memory for storage same/shared with system files?

My 32 gb sd is full of movies so need to use my empty internal.
General :: Connecting Droid 4 To Portable Hard Drive?
Nov 25, 2012I have a Motorola Droid 4 Smart Phone and I would like to be able to access my Verbatim 500GB portable hard drive with it. I have tons of PDF books and other files I would love to access via my phone. I have purchase a 5000mah battery to plug the phone and hardrive into so power is mot a problem. Is there a proceedure for doing this or some kind of program I need??
I personally think this would be an awsome thing to be able to do. Espcially for any smart phone! Just think it would be like having access to your big computer off your phone. I keep my whole computer data on several portable hard drive. When I want access I just plug them into a computer. If I have a computer issue I very seldom loose my data. I have it all backed up on data dvd's and can always put it on another portable hard drive. I can take my whole computer data base any where and use any handy computer.

Nov 8, 2009When I plug my motorola droid into my computer it recognizes the drive. But when I try to open it, it says: "no media present" . I have tried this on a vista and xp machine same results. I unmounted the sd card. Then reformatted it. Same results. Also is there a trick on how to remove it from the phone? I tried just pulling on it put its in there pretty good.

Android : External Drive With Phone
Jan 31, 2010I want to use my phone to connect to a piano/keyboard that I use, an Alesis Fusion. The Fusion is recognized as an external drive when I attach it to my PC and I can backup or copy new sounds, etc, to the keyboard. . . so, what do I need to do to get an external drive to be recognized from my phone so that I might download info with my phone and then load it onto my keyboard, which is pretty much and external drive. . . which could be ultra cool. Feb 10, 2010I have a Samsung Moment and it is connected to my iMac for file sharing. By default when you connect, you get a generic drive icon with the title NO NAME.
Does anyone know of a way to change the generic icon? Usually you can do this with the 'get info' feature on the Mac, but once I did this, I just get a blank ICO icon file.
Just thought it would be cooler to use the Android robot icon instead whenever I connect my phone.

Oct 11, 2010I developed my first (small) Andoid application using Eclipse and are now ready to transfer it to my Galaxy S mobile device (develping for Android 2.1)
Following another thread in SE, I changed the run mode in Eclipse to manual in the hope that I would be able to chose my phone and/or AVD every time I run the program.
The popup list howerver only show the AVD, my phone is not present in the list.
So obviously, my Samsung Galaxy S device is not recognized. Howerver, I can transfer to and from the device using a drive letter, so the USB connection is working properly.
Anyone any idea what I am missing here ? I'm not sure if it is an Eclipse problem , or a driver or ....

Feb 9, 2013I want to format my phone, it's kinda full and going very slow. Here comes the question: Is it a good way to back up my android phone by connecting it to my laptop and copy all the files and maps in to my D: drive. I don't mind if it doesn't my text messages and contacts.
