i'm having trouble mounting my SD card.My computer found the device when i first plugged it up but the drive is not showing up for me to drag files to.I'm trying to drag some pictures onto my SD card

Am I missing something? How do I make it where the laptop will see the moment? I don't see a place for mounting the sd card, only unmounting?
View 49 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had any issues with their Droid 2 refusing to realize that there's an SD card inserted? I went through basic troubleshooting steps for this:
1) try a different SD card - no dice
2) format the SD card - again, nothing
3) factory phone reset - nothing
I have 3 cards: a 2gb, an 8gb and a 16gb. the 16 is what I had in my Droid 1 and it had no issues whatsoever!
I have the latest Motorola drivers on two different laptops, but sometimes my SD fails to mount on the PC when I plug it into the USB. I am able to mount most of the time and do normal file operations, no problem. But sometimes I go into failure mode where no matter what I try the SD won't mount. I try rebooting the phone and laptop, trying my other laptop, uninstalling an app I suspect is causing a problem, but probably isn't, etc. Then, sometime later, for no apparent reason, I'll plug the phone into the laptop and suddenly it's working again. I see threads about SD mounting difficulties, but none that address an intermittent problem like I'm having. Any ideas about diagnostics, fixes, or preventive measures?
When it fails to mount, the symptom is that with many attempts, the phone will make the mounting sound repeatedly, but never mounts. Other times, it makes the sound once, as if it succeeded, but it doesn't mount. I've checked the log with aLogcat, but I see nothing that I can tell might be informative, but then I'm not an expert with that stuff.
I must say, the error is really vexing. Mounting works well enough to use the SD card for transferring files, but then just when you need it (to transfer something back) it fails.
I just picked up a Moto Droid X coming from the Droid Eris what a difference.For some reason it takes a very long time for my Win Vista laptop to be able to connect to the SD card. When I pull down the notifications bar and select USB storage, it takes about 5 minutes for the process to complete?I have checked to see if the Droid X has issues on a WinXP machine and it mounts right away. I have downloaded the Moto drivers, but wondering if anyone else has had issues with Win Vista.

today I put my sd card into my sd card reader to throw some photos on to my computer. After I was done i put the sd card back into my droid and booted it up. After booting I get a notification saying my SD card is blank, so I turn off the phone and pull the battery out. When I grabbed my SD card it burnt my hand "literally" it was that hot... Wtf?!?! I put the SD card back in the reader and the computer doesnt even see the card. Idk if anyone has heard of a similar problem b4 and knows a fix...Thanks in advance! Side Note; I work at a cell phone repair store, so I put the sd card in two other blackberry's and they say "your sd card needs to be formated or it is corrupt". I put other sd cards into my phone and i have no problems.

I had over 1500 music files, but while they are on the 32 GB card, only 100 are showing up in the music player. I deleted everything and recopied the original card

Then I've checked it in my phone if it is success. But for some reason, .apk files were not showing up on the list, all I see is the SD Data of my NFS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just had a warranty swap out done on my droid. As soon as I got the new droid, I hooked it up to my computer flashed back to Android 2.0.1, and used Universal AndRoot to root the phone. After that I used Rom Manager to flash ClockworkMod, and then I installed a backup that I did on my previous Droid. Everything workd great. I'm back running CM 6.0 set up just as it was on my old phone.
The problem now is that when I go into settings to change a ring tone or a notification tone all the "stock" sounds are listed twice. I don't know how to remove the duplicate.
I've deleted system/media/audio, rebooted the phone and then I only had one of everything in the menus to choose a tone. This had a negative effect as it also deleted sounds for some other actions as well. So I moved a backup copy of audio back to system/media, and the duplicates are back.
I've searched with Root Explorer for various ringtone files, and have deleted files off my SDcard thinking it was pulling files from it, but that hasn't worked.
I have the Droid Eris 2.1 and today all of the sudden I cant save to my sd card. I can open it fine on the PC and drop files in it. The error says to make sure it is mounted correctly, i have done that and rebooted.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a picture from the web onto my X. I used dropbox. The problem I'm having is I can see the picture when I go to phone files. I copy and paste from dropbox to my picture folder. The picture doesn't show up in the gallery. So just to be sure I copied the picture to a folder called background, its still not there in the gallery. Weird thing is when I go back to the phone files, and look for it. Its there in the gallery folder AND the background folder, but STILL not in the gallery! not sure whats going on there? I just want to make a picture a background thats all. It would be nice to just go into the phone files LONG press a picture and have the "Set As" option. This option only seems to be available in the gallery.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?
I installed some games (H.A.W.X and a few other from Gameloft) and all the sound files from the game show up in my Music List.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a problem with using double twist to sync music then the default player to play it, but i recently wiped all my phones music using double twist media sync program and then put some more music on... after this i went into the default music player and it was very lagy and showed songs that i had removed with double twist but when i went to play them it would play a random song that was on the phone... does anyone know how to get the media player on droid x to rescan your SD card so i can realize that some songs are gone now?

For some reason, my computer was saying that the phone wouldn't accept those kind of files. So, I tried to do it the old fashion way, which is using the USB cable, but when I connect the phone to my computer, the computer won't recognize it. It charges the phone, but won't show the drive. View 4 Replies View RelatedI was cruising an Incredible manual online and I saw this screen about connecting the Inc to a PC. I'm new to Android but I did have an Eris for a few days to try out. On that phone I would hook it to my laptop, open the notifications bar, and choose "Mount" to be able to drag files back and forth.
In this picture, there is no "Mount" choice. How do you drag files back & forth?
Also, what is USB debugging? Do I need to select that in order to drag files back and forth?

Just got my Droid working perfect today, I was sooo happy. I am running Smoked Glass V5.0 overclocked at 900 mhz and loving it.
I decided to play with tethering. Got it going on my mac just great. I tapped the stop tethering and after Wifi Tethering shut off I pulled the usb cable without amounting, ohoh. I am usually so careful about this as my Mac get angry at me if I don't.
Now this is the only thing I can think of because then my beautiful widgets wouldn't work right stating it needs an sd card to operate.
Hmm, what's that all about I thought..yep went through the settings and the droid is not seeing it. Pulled and reinserted the sd card number of times. Soft reset a few and even Advanced restored from recently and still does not read it.
My Mac reads the card without a problem through a card reader. So I got this brainstorm to back it up, do a disk repair to see if that helps. No dice...
I erased the disc on the mac hoping the droid would see it and I could format it from in there, no go.
Finally I restored everything after formatting it on my mac and still it does not see it.
The droid just goes into a 3 time boot cycle then it says preparing the sd card, then it freezes and boots again finally to a working state. Of course without my sd card.
So I guess I ruined the sd card by pulling it without amounting? I have the insurance on this so I was thinking to Advance Restore to my status prior to rooting then walk in to Verizon and just say it stopped working.
Do I have to be more cautious and delete the smoked glass files from my sd card or just leave as is. I have everything backed up on my mac so I could just throw the restore file back on there if they replace the sd card for me or if I need to delete all those files to be safe and not jeopardize the warranty.Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
Didn't have a problem with this before on my EVO and can't recall any settings I might have changed to cause this problem but when I choose the "Disk Drive" connection for "Connect to PC" it takes a long while (minute or so) for the drive to mount. I have the default connection to "Charge Only" but when connected to my computer and I choose the "Disk Drive" option the mount is SLOW. It SEEMS to get a bit quicker if I RE-choose "Charge Only" and then go back to "Disk Drive" to mount the SD card, however, like I said above, it is MUCH SLOWER than before. I used to choose the Disk Drive option and the mount would occur RIGHT AWAY. But not it is slow.
I have installed various apps over the weeks but only recently experienced this slowness. I recall some information about USB debugging conflicting with the SD mount but that option is turned OFF on my phone. Anyone know of any apps that might be known to conflict with the SD mount?
