Android :: A Verizon Droid Puzzle

Jul 11, 2010

I am based in Germany and publish the "Last Call Widget" on the Android Market.I have been steady improving it over time, but one group of users still complain about it not working on their devices. My widget listens for the "android.intent.action.PHONE_STATE" intent, and then sets an alarm to update the last call UI in 20 seconds, then 60 seconds, then 5 minutes, 1 hour, etc. This works reliably on all my test devices, even with aggressive task killers (try it yourself). Unfortunately I have a cluster of users with Motorola Droids on the Verizon network who complain that the UI does not automatically update. I believe Verizon is a CDMA network (we have GSM here in Europe), though the Android API docs don't specify any implementation differences. This could also be a driver issue on the Motorola Droid (we have GSM Motorola Milestones in Europe).

Motorola Droid :: Can't Setup My Verizon / Yahoo Mail Account (verizon.net)

Nov 10, 2009

For some strange reason I can't seem to set-up my personal e-mail account on this Droid phone. I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.

For this requirement, I need a constant source of public images. My app will be free, so I think it can be considered as Non-Comercial usage of images.

Last week I switched from att and the iphone to verizon and an HTC Eris. loving the phone and android. However being new i did not research too much and saw the HTC incredible is the latest and greatest. Yes it will cost me more for the phone but maybe I shoulda sprung for it. After all I will be stuck with it for the better part of 2 years. Is there that much of a difference in the 2.I am aware of the 8.0 camera and the faster processor. don't mind spending the extra $$ if its worth it.

Games : NumNom / Free Puzzle Game

Sep 27, 2010

I've been working on a new kind of math puzzle game only for Android. Try it out and tell me what you think! NumNom (Free!) - Android app on AppBrain. The game is all about making sets of numbers that add up to "the target" (changes depending on the game # -- like freecell). I suck at any kind of graphic design, so sorry there are no "magical sparkly's"! I still think the game is really fun, and most of my friends (who are cool enough to use Android) seem to love it.Let me know what you think! I'd love to hear real feedback from people I don't already know. Oh, and if you have questions about Android development or selling apps on the market, ask away.

Programmatically Edit Images For Puzzle Usage

The best way to cut up this image and store it in a new database ( and still will be able to slide them). Just a push in the right direction.

Android :: Verizon Or Sprint / Droid 2 Or Evo

Jun 3, 2010

This summer i would like to purchase my first smartphone. I'm out of contract with Verizon so switching carriers is a possibility (not att) I did all the research I could handle and I came to two conclusions or possibilities. Jump ships to sprint for the HTC Evo (I like the mobile hotspot feature, the hdmi feature, and eventually the possibility to stream netflix).Wait for Verizon to release the Droid 2 or Shadow that would have similar specs, (I'd like to have a physical keyboard though with droid 2)Is sprint's cheap plans and bang for your buck really as enticing as it sounds or will i regret leaving verizon's coverage?? I live in rural Kansas btw, everybody here has Verizon. I don't know anybody with Sprint.

Android :: Is Droid X Enough Of A Reason To Go Verizon?

Jul 5, 2010

I am a fan of T-Mobile. I like the ability to pop out my SIM card, and pop it in the next phone of choice, bringing everything with me. This is especially handy due to the fact that I work on a naval base tha does not permit cameraphones of any kind. I like T-Mobile's customer service. They are always polite and know what the hell they are talking about. I'm pondering getting a Galaxy S for T-Mobile.On the other hand, Verizon's new Droid X looks amazing. I love that 4.3" screen. (had the HTC HD2 with the 4.3". Loved it) I would mention the processor and other features, but it seems these two phones, minus the physical keyboard I don't care about, are close to par.Verizon, I must begrudgingly say, also have better coverage where I live. This Droid almost looks appealing emough to stay with Verizon and upgrade. So, do I get the phone I'll probably like more, or get an almost as nice phone with the ability to remove my SIM and have a crappy phone at least at work. ( keep in mind that I have access to a landline at all times at work, anyway.)

Samsung Galaxy S :: Puzzle Pieces On Unlock Screen

Nov 25, 2010

I am a samsung galaxy s user, and have been for a few months, obviously at first i had it as android 2.1, it was brilliant i had nothing to complain about. The other night i updated to 2.2, i think it was that i cant be sure, but, ever since this my phone has just been constant lag, and to be fair i havent noticed any real change except for that, for instance if i recieve a message, my phones unlock screen becomes a lot of puzzle pieces and i have to drag one puzzle piece to a gap, this has become near impossible to do it smoothly, its ridiculous. closing any apps is a nightmare and typing anything is the worse, have i done something wrong? or am i not the only one this is happening to, because my dad has the same phone he updated it just before me and its working fine.

I have been developing an Android game in the evenings for the past 6 weeks or so. It has finally got to the point where I am happy putting it on the market.. It would be great to get some downloads and feedback! The game is similar to match-3 style games with a hint of pacman and tetris There are now two game modes in the game, 'classic' and 'drop'. In the first your aim is to stop the timer going down by popping and eating fish. In drop, fish fall from the top and you must keep eating to stop the screen from filling! Samsung Vibrant : Screen Timeout / Puzzle Lock

Oct 14, 2010

I had the weird issue of my screen staying on after texts, missed calls, etc.to the point that it would continue to drain the battery if I let it.The only way to remedy this was seemingly to activate the puzzle lock piece. On a missed text, call, etc., the screen would turn on to notify me with a visible puzzle lock screen, but then shut off after literally 1 second. Now I feel like I'm in a race against my own phone to detect a text and rip it out of my pocket to swipe the screen before it goes black and I have to hit the sleep/power button to turn it back on and swipe it that way. It's stupid.Yes, I want the screen to not be on all day, but damn.1 second? Is there any happy medium?

Samsung Captivate : Puzzle Unlock / Google Voice SMS

Sep 12, 2010

Alright, so its day 3 of my time with the captivate... so far so good. coming from my iPhone 2g, I will say the device is amazingly fast by comparison... Also, I have been able to make and receive calls from my office and my in-laws house. two places that had been frustrating dead-zones before. So I am happy. Now, I'm switching over to Google Voice for my SMS, since its free, usable on desktop, etc.I am also using LauncherPro as my Launcher.I am not rooted and don't really plan on rooting.A couple Questions:

- I LOVE the puzzle-piece unlock when there is a Text waiting, is there any way to have this become the standard unlock screen?

- Or, alternatively, can I at least get it to work for texts waiting on google voice? Any way to expand the puzzle functions to include email?

- Is there a good Google Talk widget?

- Is there something I can change to improve facebook notifications? It seems I don't get any, unless I open the app. I tried the widget, but that seems to be just a news feed. Am I missing some setting for push notifications?
