View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a way to adjust volume settings for each of the different streams (media, notification, ringtone, etc) and have a way to preview the output sound level of each stream. I believe I have the correct implementation, but when I set the output stream type, there is no sound that plays.
Here is the code that correctly plays the user's selected alarm sound:
CODE:.................
That commented out line is what is causing me problems. I would like to hear the alarm sound at the volume levels of the different audio streams, but when I include that line for STREAM_ALARM or any other audio stream, no sound at all plays.
I took out the 8GB SD card from my Blackberry Storm and put it the Incredible.
I had a bunch of music saved on my SD Card that I downloaded from VZW Music Media thing.
When I go to music on the Incredible and go over the song (it shows the picture of the album of the song)
it says "unable to play this type of audio"

I want to play a video file sitting in a server by setting local sdp file in the mediaplayer.
How to set the mediaplayer to read the local sdp file and start playing depending on the sdp connect (if it has unicast/multicast, start corresponding session)? I want to test unicast for now.
I have an app that worked fine on Android 2.1 (Eclair) but is no longer working in 2.2.1 (Froyo). I think this may have to do with the shift from OpenCore to StageFright for video encoding and decoding, but am unsure.
The debug logs show two things I'm not sure about:

Can anyone tell me if the Android MediaPlayer class is able to play a video stored in a remoted URL? Just for testing purposes, can I use the URL http://localhost/video-name.3gp. Another question is if the MediaPlayer works well on the emulator?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI copied song.mp3 to my project's assets directory and wrote this code:

I'm using JB 1.4.2 on Razr i. There's one thing that's annoying me a lot. I've installed the SNES Emulator SuperGNES and I've found that every single file type that have no app associated is showing SuperGNES icon and associated with it. Example: .log, .db, etc. Even files that have no extension is associated with it. The same problem occur when ZArchiver is installed. I don't know if it's a bug of these two apps or Android's in general. Remembering that this associations are shown only inside Android's native file manager. It's like every "unknown MIME type file" act like being the same.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a requirement to play several sounds many times in my game so instead of creating the MediaPlayer again and again I have called mp.seekTo(0) in onCompletion(mp) so that it will restart. Sometimes the sound is not audible from the device when I call mp.start () after setting mp.seekTo(0); but the player calls onCompletion() without playing any sound, this is observed randomly on most of the sounds
My sounds are of short duration mostly less than a second.
I am using a separate MediaPlayer for each sound (as I need this) -
There are almost 28 sounds in my game so i will be creating 28 MediaPlayers.
Below is the attached code for player
Also If I try to play many sounds one after the other in a short period of time i get an error saying "no more track names available". can u tell Why this is happening...?
check the below code:

I am trying to play file which is stored in SDCARD in emulator. I have Linux O/S. So i need to provide command in run configuration. I am providing following parameter.
-sdcard /usr/android/sdcard/mysdcard.iso -audio oss [i]
The following is my code to play file.
try { mMediaPlayer.setDataSource("/sdcard/test_cbr.mp3"); mMediaPlayer.prepare(); // Giving error. mMediaPlayer.start(); }
Not a single type of video is playable on my phone. Youtube.com, YouTube App, videos from my phone's SD Card, videos I recorded with this phone a few days ago, nothing. Videos I was able to watch on my phone before also suddenly stopped working. I also can't record videos.
On the other hand, my camera works perfectly, so does the music player.
I haven't added any weird adds or anything of the sort. I've attached screenshots of my "About Phone" info, and two other screenshots of what it looks like when I try to play videos on the YouTube App and videos that are directly saved on my phone.
I'm posting here continuing from the Galaxy S I9000 General forum [URL] ....
Since then, I've done the following:
-Rebooted the system and re-installed the latest Kernel version.
-Uninstalled and re-installed YouTube.
-Installed MX Player. This solved the problem I faced while playing videos from my phone, but still can't watch videos from YouTube.
-Went through my Apps and found that I'm missing the Video Player app (click picture)
-Factory Reset to no avail.
I've had this phone for about a month and a half, and installed ICS on it on day 3 or so. Ever since, the videos were working properly, lagless and flawlessly, just a few days ago problems started appearing.
Perhaps the Video Player apk would do? I can't seem to find it anywhere for my phone.
What is the best way to determine file type in android? I want to check if the given file is image or music file or video or smth else. Could you please give me a small code snippet?

For example if I have a new file type 'file.mjl' and I receive this file as an email, I want Android to associate this file type with my app and allow me to open / save it.
I did some search in this forum, and found the below thread. So an intent-filter is needed. But it did not have an answer regarding how/ where to add code, and get the file name passed by another app, say a file manager. http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI use my file explorer a lot. It eliminates much of the "You have to put the files here" sort of requirement of many applications. And in many case - movie files for example - when you touch the file, it opens it in the appropriate application. There are exceptions like *.epub files. When I touch one, I get the famous "...does not support." message. So the question is, can I "register" Laputa (for example) to be the app to open *.epub files - Similar to the File Types dialog in Windows?I suppose this might require root access?
