HTC Incredible :: Battery Draining Really Fast - Cell Standby And Phone Idle At 36% Each

Aug 6, 2010

Just yesterday my phone was getting more than 14+ hours of battery. Now it's draining really quickly even when I'm not using it (I left it on while I was asleep). It's not facebook because I already downloading the fix and rebooted. My "time without signal" is 0% so I don't think that's the problem. I did download Quickpedia yesterday but a quick search tells me that's not the problem either.

The only other thing I did differently was switch from ADW to LauncherPro yesterday, but if that was draining the battery wouldn't it be under Android System and not standby or idle? Regardless, I switched back to ADW just to see if that works

HTC Droid Eris :: Battery Draining - Cell Standby And Idle Are 36%

Jun 23, 2010

I tried doing the Airplane trick...I am not sure this is the 50% issue others have mentioned because when I go to view my battery statistics, it doesn't show the 2 lines of information like it did before (i.e, 50%), but my phone idle and cell standby are Both hanging around 36%...seems kind of high in my opinion.

HTC EVO 4G :: What Do Cell Standby And Phone Idle Mean?

Sep 13, 2010

There has been almost no variation from that. Every now and then Display or Wi-Fi would show up as about 2% each, then disappear after a while. That's all.Last night my battery reached 10%, I turned off the power, charged it overnight for 12 hours, unplugged it, and turned the power back on. I noticed two things:

1. My Battery Use list changed drastically. I assume this is actually a better representation of what the list should look like than what I had been seeing for two weeks, but the other thing I noticed was

2. My battery was draining a lot faster than it ever had during the previous two weeks, even during idle periods. My battery had consistently been draining at around 1% per hour idle until today. Now I'm seeing it drop 5% in LESS than an hour while idle (idle meaning the screen shuts off and I don't use it).

So my question is, what do Cell Standby and Phone Idle mean? Previously they had both been 2% and my idle battery use was excellent. But today they both shot up to the 20-30% range and I'm thinking this may account for the excessive battery drain even while the phone is sleeping. Why would these two things be so high? Nothing changed between yesterday and today except that I turned off the phone and turned it back on. I almost feel like I messed something up by simply turning it off!

I was just wondering if anyone had the same issue as I do, with about 44% of my battery use coming from the notorious call standby.

I heard some speculation that this is akin to the issue with the Eris 2.1, so it would be solved by the Airplane Mode trick, but I have not found any results favoring that remedy.

Samsung Captivate :: Phone Getting Hot / Battery Draining Fast

Nov 18, 2010

Since I got my Captivate just a couple of weeks after it hit the market, I experienced really good battery life. I could plug the charger in at 6:00 when I get up, take it off the charger at 7:30 when I leave for work, and make it til the next morning most days.A couple of weeks ago, I left for work with a full charge, and around 11:00 I took out my phone to test WiFi coverage for some new access points we had installed in the office. The phone felt very warm, and the battery indicator was yellow. For the next couple of days it went like this. I had a spare Samsung battery from when AT&T sent us a new one for my wife's Captivate when she was having random shutdown issues, so I swapped batteries. Things were fine for 10-11 days. Then suddenly last evening about 7:30, when I went to look something up online with my phone, it was very warm again, and the battery indicator was red. Had to put it on the car charger when I left church. When I got home, I put it on the charger all night. By midday today, it was in the yellow, and it finally died about an hour ago. again the handset felt very warm. I don't have a spare USB cable here at work, so will have to wait to get home to charge it. Anything particular I should look for on the phone (running apps, etc.)? Or do I just need to go ahead and place a call to AT&T support?

Nexus :: Standby Draining Battery

Jan 14, 2010

Just got my Nexus One yesterday, and I'm loving it! My only concern is the battery life meter is telling CELL STANDBY 67%?? When you click on it, it says time without signal 50% and then it says thats whats causing battery consumption.

Before I go on, I have no issues with 3G, been getting a solid signal since I got the phone yesterday, just a little confused on what to do? Shouldn't standby SAVE battery?

HTC EVO 4G :: Cell Standby Demolishes Battery

Jul 29, 2010

I charge my evo while I'm sleeping. Last night I went to sleep with it at 100% and woke up 10 hours later to find that I had lost 50%. Battery indicator told me that it was 48% cell standby and 48% phone idle and only 2% Android system. Is this usual? I didn't know just leaving my phone on the table would kill so much.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Fix For Fast Battery Draining

Sep 5, 2010

I'd like to thank the people over at XDA.I think they may have found the culprit for the horrible battery performance some of us are seeing. There are two threads of interest over there:Time without signal > 50% - xda-developers Wow battery from 100 to 10 in 3 hours xda-developers.The short of it is that the 3G signals don't stay locked and the phone keeps hunting. If you go under the battery life settings and click on "Cell Standby" there's a field for "Time Without Service".Mine and many others were hover around 50%.This is constantly draining battery even while you do nothing. So the temporary quick fix is to turn on Airplane mode, then turn it right back off. This fixes some incorrect setting. On my phone, Time Without Service dropped from 52% last night to 0% today. And my battery only dropped about 9-10% idling over night. This is MUCH better than the 30% draining overnight I was seeing over the past few days.

Then if I just flip screen to screen - another 1% gone in less than 15 secs!!I have searched through the forums but haven't seen if there is a 'fix"I have build 2.26.60534 CL140744 - that's the latest, correct? My Minor issue is signal strength - I use to have 3-4 bars constant and now am lucky if I get 2 - again saw others had the same prob but didn't know if there was a fix besides the *228/2 -I have powered off - taken battery out - that gave it about 10% more juice but still declines rapidly as before.REALLY NEED SOME HELP ON THIS TO PROVE TO MY WIFE I AM NOT A TOTAL IDIOT (please keep those comments to minimum - at least til my problem is fixed) AS "SHE WARNED ME"

HTC Hero :: Battery Performance Report - Draining Very Fast On 3G

Nov 5, 2009

I was quite frustrated earlier with my battery performance. I turned off:

- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- "Use wireless networks"
- Gmail/Email pull and Auto-sync (but leave the "Background data" on)
- "Enable GPS satellites"
- Weather update
- "Enable Always-On mobile" (but leave the "Mobile network" ticked)
- and let Twitter/Facebook to automatically update only once/twice a day.

Still the battery was draining very fast. The only thing I did not turn off is the 3G. Yesterday I decided to switch to 2G and replace the built-in SMS with Handcent SMS. To my very surprise, the battery life improves greatly. I will now do a test to see how fast it drains. I have just fully charged the unit and will update it here once I get the result.

HTC Hero :: My Battery Is Draining Fast / Awake Time High

Feb 22, 2010

Before everybody redirects me to the standard "ways to extend your battery life" threads, I believe I've tried all the usual tricks, which is why I'm posting another thread. This is really starting to drive me nuts. Up until a few weeks ago, I was getting good battery life. A couple of days worth with normal usage, which I think is reasonable with all considered. But now, it lasts about half a day, which is obviously not much use when you can only charge it at night.I've been checking the "awake time" and sometimes it just keeps staying high. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When the awake time is high, it is also warm to the touch, as if it is doing a lot of processing or something.

I've also been using "spare parts" to see what appears under "partial awake". I have never seen anything under this which accounts for the awake time. For example, the awake time might say "15 hrs", but "partial awake" in spare parts shows the biggest thing as being "Android system", but only taking "2 mins".I have (as far as I can tell) disabled the standard HTC messages app, and am now using Handcent SMS.I have turned off bluetooth and GPS, but leave wifi and mobile data on. I know switching these off saves power, but I've always had them on without as much drain as I do now.I have done a factory reset, and reinstalled all my usual apps, and left off any which I don't really need. All seemed well for a few days, but then the drain started again.

I have a feeling my battery drain is due to an update to an app, but as it's not consistent, I can't figure out which app or update it could be.As it is, with the battery lasting for less time than I am out in the day, it makes it a really rubbish phone, and just not fit for purpose. Is there any other way, other than using "spare parts", that I can tell what is using my power?

I am using xperia p with stock JB (unrooted). I have to charge it twice a day without even any significant use.

Sometimes battery just drains out by 10% or so with just an eye blink! Battery details showed that it's staying awake (or something is making it stay awake) while in sleep. Tried using BetterBatteryStats to find the draining app. But just 'kworker' and 'admsrv (or something like this)' seemed to be the only problems. Tried flashing and/or factory resetting 5 or 6 times and still no improvement.

General :: Asus Fonepad Battery Drain In Standby Due To Cell Radio

Sep 20, 2013

I recently purchased this Tablet cum Phone Device (Asus Fonepad) in India. I found this device very impressive with decent battery backup along with great standby time. Everything was allright. In morning I found heavy battery draining during standby.

Next day I uninstalled that Black market application and Uninstalled Exdialer with all downloaded themes. I got full signals and everything was working fine. But the Battery Drain in standby remain same. I observed the situation till next two days. I searched to forums and did following things:

1. I made factory reset to my fonepad. which was haviing 4.1.2 Android after updating through OTA. Which remains same after Reset.
2. I didnt install any other applation
3. I turned of all battery comsuming services like GPS/ Location reporting/ Data/ Wifi/ Uninstalled Google Play Service Updates etc
4. Installed Wakelock detector, Better Battery Stats etc All are showing that phone goes in deep sleep no prblem but Wakelock detector show that Cell Radio wakes up so much time when phone is on sleep mode. Default Battery monitor of Android Showing "Mobile Data" as most battery comsumer.

One thing I want to mention here the device is supportive to mini sim only. I was not having mini sim so I went to market and mobile shop keeper cutted my Sim to adjust into that slot and it woked. I was using same sim from Day first. It's Vodafone INDIA.

I have not rooted nor flashed anything from my fonepad. I am reached to the conclusion that There is some problem with Exdialer installation and applying new/old theme combination to it which made me device with no signal. And now The Cell Radio has been changed which is attempting to achive something in standby mode. Which is causing heavy battery Drain. Standby time is reduced to almost 15-16 Hrous

Motorola Droid X :: Battery Life Is Terrible - Shows Display At 93% And Cell Standby At 7%

Aug 2, 2010

First off, I read these forums like every day for 2 months (nearly drove my wife insane!) leading up to the release of the X. Stood in line and bought one in the store on the 15th. Had nothing but iPhones until now - loving my DroidX!

BUT

As of right now my battery is down to 60% after having been unplugged (when I unplugged I was at 100%) for 1hr 46m 9s!

It shows display at 93% and cell standby at 7%.

I'm running smart battery mode, auto screen brightness, not that many widgets, and I rooted it and have autokiller running on Aggressive.

Do I just have a bad battery? And if so will Verizon (or Moto) give me a new one?
