Android :: License Verification Library And Multiple Google Accounts
Aug 12, 2010
Does the Android License Verification Library support a device logged in to multiple Google accounts?
Does it use the first Google account to determine who purchased an app?

I'm trying to integrate the LVL to my app, and I followed the 'Licensing Your Applications' document [1].
For some reason I'm receiving the ERROR_NOT_MARKET_MANAGED error, although my app (package: org.jraf.android.logcatlivewallpaper) is indeed available in the Market.
I suppose I made a mistake is on my side but all I did is follow the document (I used the ServerManagedPolicy and the AESObfuscator), so I don't see what I could have done wrong.

I can't import the License Verification Library to the workspace. In the Eclipse wizard I click "File > import" but no Android option available, if I choose normal Java project then it doesn't work because it has no Android api reference. How to do?

I'm still experimenting with the LVL and I noticed that, with the recommended strategy (ServerManagedPolicy), in case of no connectivity, the callback's dontAllow() method is called.
This seems a bit odd to me and I wanted to make sure this is the expected behavior, and not a bug on my side.

I've setup the Android LVL with my application to check for licensing. This seems to work great with the Test Accounts. The problem is, if I turn the phones internet connection off and try to run the app, the licensing check will fail and tell me it's NOT licensed! One thing is, why does it tell me the application is NOT licensed and more importantly, how can I have the application 'remember' if it is licensed or not

Here's the deal: I will be upgrading to the Droid X very soon. I know that when you setup the phone you have to tie it to a Google/gmail account, but what if my wife wants to check her email and stuff as well? She isn't going to have a smartphone of her own. Is there a way to designate an app or widget for her Google account on my smartphone? Or will she have to go through the browser every time and log-in?

I bought a Fascinate yesterday and I have two google accounts. The primary one works fine. However the second one has a calendar that's not being picked up by my phone.Under 'Accounts and sync 'Manage accounts there only 'Sync contacts' and 'Sync Gmail' but no 'Sync Calendar' like I can with my primary account.I set up the calendar in Google and got the mobile part registered and received the code and it says it's working...the phone just isn't realizing it's there.

So here in the land of 2.1 on the Sprint Hero we're supposed to be able to have multiple Google Accounts. It says so straight up when you go to Settings Accounts & sync -> Add Account -> Google ("You can use more than one Google Account on your phone...").When I try to add the 2nd account I get the issue that other people report when trying to replace their first account, or if they skipped account setup when activating the device. This is the "unable to connect to network" / "unstable network connection" issue detailed here: [Fixed]I Want To Use a Different GMail Account

Have had an ongoing problem with error 403 in the Google Play Store. In this case, the issue seems to have arisen because I have historically used 2 google accounts to purchase apps. 'Account A' from 4 to 3 years ago, and 'Account B' from 3 years onwards.
I now only have 'Account B' on my phone (N7000), however, some of the apps which I purchased with 'Account A' still appear as purchased in my Google Play Store, even although phone can be hard reset with no further 'Account A' reference. So I get this 403 download problem, although I wouldn't even mind just buying some apps afresh with 'Account B'. Also, maybe of relevance, the same card was used to purchase on both accounts.
Is there a way I can 'clear' the original 'Account A' purchases?

I have the phone running Android 2.3.4 (rooted).I have two Google accounts setup on my phone. I use both of them as there are apps purchased from both accounts.
I would like to sync contacts from my phone to BOTH the accounts. As of now, contacts are being synced to just one Google Account. In the "Accounts and Sync", I see both the Google Accounts listed, with the "Sync Contacts" option enabled for both accounts.
Is it possible to sync contacts to both GOOGLE accounts from the phone? If yes, how?

There's a large chunk of apps on the market that are free, with ads. Users can pay for an "unlocker" app to remove ads in the "free" app, presumably by doing a check on whether or not the unlocker app package is installed.
If LVL is verified intermittently on a paid app, is it useless for these unlocker apps? Presumably a user would never run the unlocker app, so how would LVL even check the authenticity?

I'm using the Android Development Toolkit (ADT) in Eclipse Galileo. I've created a project in which to develop some util classes, which I intend to use in several upcoming Android projects. However, when I come to use these util classes (deployed as a jar and included in the Android project as a user library), I get a java.lang.VerifyError during the startup of the emulator. Can I force the verification of these library files, or do I need to include them as part of the Android project, and not as an external jar?

My Android app has a ContactsList activity in which I simply display a list of contacts that are on the phone. Only recently I noticed that my activity only displays contacts synced with my main Google account. I have two Google accounts on my test phone and ideally I want my activity to display the contacts for both accounts (or multiple accounts). How do I query across multiple accounts?

I would like to build an application that caters for multiple accounts (eg. home, work) and account types (e.g. ISP, VoIP, Mobile). Essentially, I would like to get the user to create the accounts they want and then have all the accounts listed on the start page grouped by type.
For example:
ISP:
- Home
- Work
Mobile:
- Mum
- Dad
When you click on the account, it would take you to another screen where I do a bunch of calcs and display the results.
I currently do this via multiple apps but am looking at consolidating into the one app. I am just not sure where to start or how I go about achieving this? The way the Contacts app works is a good example of what I am wanting to do.

I not only have accounts in all the major IM vendors/formats, but I also have multiple accounts with each service. I have found Fring and Agile, but they appear (from use and FAQ) that they can only support one user per service. Agile is awesome, as it understands how to send video/camera shots directly, and fring seems not to be able to as easy. But that is secondary to being able to load all your accounts, eh? I guess I'm looking for Digsby functionality for Android!

I just recently came from an iPhone and it seems the android is lacking on the email side of things, perhaps I'm missing something. Is there an app that supports:
- Multiple exchange accounts
- IMAP/POP as well?
I can't even find an app that supports multiple exchange accounts and the apps that do support exchange (touchdown) don't support pop3/imap.

I have a Nexus One running the stock Android 2.1. I've got my normal gmail account that works flawlessly, and also my company's email hosted on google apps. Both accounts are set up, and both work for email, but only the gmail account seems to be able to sync my calendar. Is this a limitation of Android, a setting in the calendar, or a problem with the built-in calendar application? If I can't get the corporate calendar to show up, it seems like a pretty big limitation.

With Google Talk I'm automatically logged in with my main gmail account. Is there a way to add other gmail accounts to this? Or swap to a different account when I need to? How about non-gmail accounts? Can I add an AIM account, for example? Is there an app that can manage multiple chat accounts? I use Adium on my Mac to have 3 or 4 different chat accounts open (useful for work, people who don't have gmail etc.) and I'd love to do the same thing with my Droid.

I'd like to have two GMail (Google Apps mail, if that makes a difference) accounts active at once, both getting new mail notifications, and having the ability to send and reply through both accounts. My current solution is to simply forward all of Account #2's mail to Account #1 -- but then I can't send. Am I missing an option here? Surely this must be possible on Google's OS.

I've seen the video for the Nexus One handling multiple Gmail accounts, that's fantastic, but what it does not show me, and what is killing me about my Eris, is that there is no "Reply As" drop down menu like there is in the regular Gmail app for Desktop OS. Ex. I have 3 email accounts (Hotmail, Work and Gmail) that I have setup on my Eris. Currently, the only one getting pushed to my phone is Gmail, which means that the other two are constantly polling for messages and causing a drain of battery, not to mention the hassle of having to enter into different mailboxes, apps to retrieve mail. I would love to be able to have my Gmail pop those other accounts and label them accordingly so that I can receive all my mail via Push from Gmail, saving on battery and making email management on my phone much easier.
However, this is not a possibility for me simply because I need to be able to Reply As the account that the msg was originally sent. Ex. Someone sends an email to my work email, and I'm on the road. I need to reply as me@work.com, not me@gmail.com. That would be really confusing to the sender, not to mention unprofessional for me. I've read some work arounds where some people have Gmail setup the way i described above, but also have their sep mail accounts setup on their phone w/ the Auto Polling set to manual. That way, they can manage their email in Gmail, but if they need to reply to one from a specific account, they open up the Mail for that account, manually refresh and find the msg and reply. Also, the built-in Mail apps have no ability to do batch operations such as "Mark as read" or "Delete all" functionaility, GMail does.
So, I can't be pumping through 30 emails a day w/o this feature. I'm doing it now on my Eris and trust me, it's more work that it's worth. I'm not one of those people that can just leave the Mail Icon sitting there with a number on it. It has to go away. Otherwise, I don't know if/when another email comes in. It could be important. This is especially important to me because I'm an IT Professional, and, not only do I need to get my email in a timely manner (Push is instant and therefore ideal), but I need to be able to reply as such. I've been looking at alternatives, but this seems to be the only/best way, and I'm really hoping that it's built-in to Gmail on Android 2.1, like it is on the Desktop OS version.

So I've poked around a bit, and am mildly disappointed with what I've found so far in my search. I need a Twitter client that can actually reliably deal with two accounts, and not mix them up. I tweet for an organization as well as my own account, and cannot have it bugging up and switching accounts as I've heard that Twidroid does. FYI, I'm using the free version of Twidroid now, and have no complaints about it thus far, but I have not been wowed by it either. Does anyone have any experience with any other clients, or should I just suck it up and throw down for Twidroid? I don't mind paying for an app, as long as it functions solidly.

I am looking for a Twitter client for Android that can ...
1. Handle multiple accounts
2. Display multiple accounts on the widget
I like Seesmic but the widget is just too small for my taste. I can only see the very last tweet. It would be nice to have a widget where either tweets from multiple accounts are combined or there is the option to switch between the accounts quickly directly from the widget. Any suggestions?
